it's funny because... actually, no, this isn't funny. and i'm not saying that as a fan of lord of the rings (which i am)... but i say this as a fan of actual comedy. like monty python, for example. part of the reason this isn't funny is because, if the creator of the video had read the books,and payed FULL attention to the movies, he would know that wasn't possible. secondly, tolkein already reponded to a joke similar to this when the books were frist released.

2. The eagles would have just been corrupted by the ring.

3. Sammath Naur is inside a cavern so you can't just drop it in.

4. A bunch a bigass eagles are much more likely to be spotted than a handful of people on foot.

5. They would have been ripped to shreds by the fell beasts as soon as they got close.

6 and most importantly: It would have made a terrible book.

However...In my Opinion, Several eagles with Elven archers would have been more than enough to keep the Nazgül at bay long enough for The fellowship to get to the Mountian. As long as the eagles flew high enough they wouldn't have to worry about Orc archers. I get the sense that if this plan had been chosen, the ring would have been kept safely out of sight where it would have not so easily corrupted anybody. I have more too...

Elven archers wouldn't have been able to do much against the nine Nazgul. People seem to forget that the only reason the Eagles in the third book and Aragorn in the first one managed to hold the Riders back was because they were less than nine. When they are together, they are unstoppable. And the Eagles wouldn't have been able to fly for days without rest. They would have to stop sometime. And then... well, you get the picture.

I was under the assumption there were less than nine present, as you only see them all together once at Weathertop. I think the idea though was to surprise/distract Sauron so the Ring could be destroyed before he could gather his forces at the Mountain. I was going to say the eagles would land at the base of the mountain and the fellowship walk.

7. Saruman had spies in the air, which makes 'more likely to be spotted' into 'would have definitely been spotted'.

8. By that time the Witch King would have been still alive (as much as he can be, anyway), which would make the nine Nazguls impossible to defeat - not even Glorfindel could do it, and he is one of the Firstborn and slew a Balrog. So - no chance whatsoever.

As Frodo never got stabbed the horses would not have been killed and no fell beast would have been spawned... Just saying

It's a good idea, but that never would have worked because the Great Eagles cannot enter Mordor while Sauron, or any evil rules. The only reason why they could to save Frodo was because Sauron was destroyed just before that.
