  • id take rich over natanui anyday.

  • So great West Ausralian footballers, you always hear of Victorian players returning home, but hopefully Freo can get some of these young guns like Rich to return to WA :P

  • Go rich!!!!!!!

  • go rich

  • natanui and rich is a killer combo

  • natanui does jack shit people overate him like u...

  • daniel rich smashes all of the draft picks. his a high poseesion getting midfielder !! he is already won of the lions best players!! his awesome

  • daniel rich is better than rhys palmer

  • Spot on.

  • richy the next cousins, judd

  • I doubt Richy will have the pure speed/athleticism of either of those players. Comparing apples and oranges there.

  • i agree but a very good pickup by the lions however rich is already looking amazing at his strengths like tackling and his hardness at the ball its not really matched by anyone else in the draft this year

  • And those are the qualities I love about the kid. No idea why I got the thumbs down for pointing out his weak areas :S. Especially on the comparison to Judd/Cousins. Excellent pickup by the Lions, I'd have no problem with being at Carlton. I do still believe Yarran was the right pick for us, needs to work on his fitness so he can become a sneak up forward. Rich was the perfect fit for Brisbane, so no doubt the recruiting manager couldn't believe his luck!

  • He won't be anything like Cousins nor Judd. But that's not to say he won't be a superstar like them.

He's gonna be in the top 20 best players within 4 years, I reckon.

For some reasons he reminds me of Sam Mitchell :S

  • he will be a better afl player than jack watts

  • Watts>>>>>>Rich.

Rich at 7 is still pretty damn good. Could of gone 1-5, only questions on his endurance and upside.

  • Draft number doesn't matter for shit. Rich plays like a 24 year old senior player, Watts doesn't have the body, the fitness, the strength nor the kicking power or skill of Rich.

  • You're an idiot. I rate Rich, as my comment showed, saying at 7 he was an absolute steal. Watts will play a much more important role for Melbourne than Rich will for Brisbane. If you did the draft again I'd still take Watts over Rich.

Watts is an 18 year old KPF, comparing him with Rich is nonsensical.

  • Can I ask when we can expect to see Watss playing half the season? 2-4 years time? How many has Rich played in his debut season? Draft pick numbers don't matter. How many of the No. 1 Draft Picks in the past 15 years have played in a Grand Final. 3? 4?

  • You're an idiot. I'm not saying draft numbers matter and once again you show your ignorance. Watts is a young KPF, Rich is a ready-made midfielder. Do you rate Deledio over Roughead and Franklin? He showed more in his first season after all.

  • Which means that Rich is the superior player. Also, Rich isn't quite ready-made. He still has a lot to develop, just like any other player that is in their debut season, but even if Watts does develop to beome better than Rich, it will be when both of them are 30-35, in which case they might have retired anyway. I'm not being ignorant, I'm just saying that if Watts is ever to become a better player, it will be later on in his career, when he and Rich are close to retirement. I do think however,

  • that perhaps the Dees should play Watts a little more. Rich has played what, 16 games this season to Watts' 1. Maybe this could be an indication of Watts being a player that needs time to develop. Most draftees play 3-5 games in their first season, with those that are ready playing many of the home matches, although we saw Rich in almost every Brisbane match. Rich is an outstanding player and we can't see into the future, so for now, he is the better of the two.

  • You didn't answer my question about Lids. When I say Rich is ready-made, I mean he was ready to play AFL, not unable to improve. Murphy was a ready-made AFL player.

So if Watts will be better it won't be until he is 30? LOL

Mate, KPF don't take THAT long. Now you obviously don't really know what you're talking about. Watts is still in school and it has been said several times that he won't be spending too much time in the AFL. And FYI, he has played 3 games, not that I expect you to know V_V

  • watts is a 6 tf 5 chf and rich is a midfield, you can't compare them.

I think tom scully >> rich

  • daniel rich is gonna be a star player, brisbane should be very happy that he slipped down so much

  • How he slipped so far is amazing!

  • Welcome to the mighty Brisbane Lions. :D

  • what a thumper of a left boot, seems to make good decisions under pressure aswell, looks like a number 1 to me. looks better than jack watts, he didnt impress ms much as this kid, rich is ready made for the afl, like trent cotchin.

  • Is guy is a certainty, takes the inside ball, roosts it a mile of one step, reads the play and loves the tough stuff. I would be wanting him over nic nat,

  • my bad i ment chris yarran.

picket is 30 odd years old lol

  • lol alistair pickett would get a game for us right now. But seriously, Yarran looks lazy and undisciplined, I don't know if I'd be willing to risk an early pick on him. We need quality midfielders.

  • yeah but dont forget about allistair pickett.

could be the small forward fremantle need now farmer is gone

  • why do we need nick nat weve got cox

  • west coast need rich...

    like... we really do.

  • West coast have made it clear they want nick nat. so its rich to fremantle to join palmer as rising star for 2009.

  • i want rich :(

  • can't have everyone unfortunately

  • W/C will take Rich

They would be stupid not to
