  • Will be volunteering for Extreme Makeover Home Edition in Bastrop. Keep your head up, although it's just one family, you never know the power of awareness and compassion :)

  • Watching this video was very difficult just after the fires took place, but as time has gone by I've been amazed at the way those in the community have pulled together to help one another during such a devastating time. While I'm still horribly sad for those who lost so much, I'm encouraged by this song and video as I feel it portrays, for the most part, the positive and persevering spirits of those affected.

  • God thank you for saving my grandmother from this fire.

  • This is a great video, thank you for putting it together. I lost my home and this is a good documentary of the events surrounding the loss.

    Thanks again.

  • @HannahsMimaw I love you mom!

  • @juggernette397 I love you too!!

  • The song, the video, and the 16 year old young man who put this together is an AMAZING ANGEL. My mother and father lived on Cardinal Dr. The hardest hit area when the fire broke out. This is a reminder that everything GOD gives he can take. Just as he gave once, he will give again. We have to be blessed that we are here to be able to start over. There where 2 individuals that perished in the fire. God Bless everyone and thank you for an awesome video.

  • This is a great video! Our little community will stand together... Put our head up and overcome this devastation. The out looting of love from all over is abundant and amazing!

  • Even though the fire is about out, I return to this video when I need uplifting. The song choice was perfect. Sometimes when I drive to Austin to work, it comes on the radio and I turn it up. We all need to keep our headup now and go forward.

  • Wow! great video! It's so sad to see it. This video really shows the devistation. For those that think the song was bad if you listen to the words it simply says the message the kid is trying to send out therefore its perfect. "Keep your head up" is the title also. He's trying to raise the spirits of his community. Great job on the vid!! We are praying for yall here in Houston.

  • Hey Bastropians, hope the little trailer made it fom Midland. We having another drive this wkend and hopefulmore stuff going yr way. We got .33" of most needed rain day. Hopeful the Gulf will send sum y'all's way FAST!!!

  • I have a fully furnished rental house available in the country in San Marcos. Please pass on the info to anyone who may now be looking for temporary housing. tw4short@yahoo.com

  • I just want you to know that Andy Grammer is using this as a link for his Fanrank contest. He's amazing, I talked to him today and he loves when people do things like this. It's how he's famous.

  • I want to thank everyone for the positive, thoughtful comments. My 16 year old son made this video for his town and it's nice to see that most of the comments are meant to encourage the residents of Bastrop rather than critique the video/song choice. For those who don't like it you certainly don't have to view it and you are free to make a video that conveys whatever message you want to put out.

  • @TSgtBacon I think what your son did is GREAT! My mother lost her home on Kona Drive in that fire, and while it's definitely hard to watch and I still cry each time, that is a normal part of the grieving process anytime we are faced with difficult things in this life...God Bless your son for his efforts...yeah the song is up beat, but if I'm crying from that, imagine if he'd put some sad song to go along with a very sad story...He chose to contribute in HIS way and I love it =) Angela Carnegie

  • I, too, thought the music was too upbeat/not a good song choice...

    Gail

  • Praying for God's Grace and Peace to be with all of you and for all your needs to be met. God Bless.

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I found out about this video via my friend on Facebook.

We faced similar situations back in 2003 & 2007, here in San Diego. I know what y'all are going through. I have also made a donation to the provided Red Cross link provided by eseeoh.

    Sending positive healing energy!

  • Hearts out from luling texas

  • Remember everyone greives in different ways. If this video is too hard for you to watch, don't watch it. Please don't be critical of the person who made it. It has helped them and others to cope. Great Job!

  • What is the name of this song

  • @cco2014 Keep your head up. By Andy Grammer.

  • Awesome!!! Job very well done. Thanks!!!

  • Wonderful effort & heart, but I personally don't care for the song choice at all ... I think it's a bit too much this early in the game. Especially when peoples homes that are completely destroyed are in this video. But I do understand the good intentions, and praise goes out for that.

  • For my friend Mel, God Bless!

  • My friend Just moved to Bastrop, luckily she is Okay!

  • FROM LITTLE ELM TEXAS- Aunt Michelle, Cole, Keaton. You can go through this (: keep ur heads up. The USA is tryin to help (:

  • Sorry for all bastropians that lost thier homes mine is fine i will help out when u need TMAR operative serving all texans is what we do. my best friend recently lost his home. i personally in bastrop myself live 3 miles east of fire so i now how scary it is

  • It's ok Bastrop. You'll get through this, we'll all get through this. I'm in Nacogdoches, we're surrounded on all sides by these fires, by some miracle they spared Nac. And they fire fighters are getting the ones near me under control, but it just as easily could have been Nac burning. And I've been semi packed for days, waiting on pins and needles for the evacuation order. I'm extremely grateful that hasn't come yet, and it's looking like it won't come.

  • Bastrop will get through this. WE will get through this. As long as we keep our heads up!

  • With love from Katy.

  • my dad lives by bastrop and on the way to take me home we saw this it was verey said :( but keep it in out prayers laGrange tx was hit to my memals land was destroided but her house was ok

  • @archersfriend Again, take your attitude somewhere else. Quit trying to make this about YOU and your personal views. NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK!

  • Bastrop, Texas will help you rebuild. I know a lot is lost, but hang in there. *hugs* Austin loves you. :-)

  • Andy Grammer tweeted this. Everyone keep your head up! <3 I hope things get better there and I'm sorry for everyone's loss :(

  • I love the song. It is upbeat and positive. (Of course, there are always people who love to focus on the negative!) Anyway, hope it brings in lots of donations for the people of Bastrop! I am so sorry for all of the loss you are experiencing. I had no idea it had gotten so bad. Thanks for raising my awareness.

  • @archersfriend I happen to live in Bastrop and I think this is an AWESOME video! It's an uplifting song, which is what we need right now. The only thing pitiful is your comment. If you don't like the video, don't watch it. We don't need any negativity here, we've had enough, thanks.

  • @ilovehaters76 amen!

  • Our prayers and thoughts to all in Bastrop. I cannot imagine the pain of loosing all of your earthly treasures. As I watched the TV the other night I could not decided if I was given a few hours to get out of my home ... WHAT would I take with me -- The pic. of my son who died at 16 in 1989 ... OR all of the art work I have on my walls from the awesome women who raised me. I still cannot decide so pray I never do have to. God Bless and I know my husband and I pray for healing to all.

  • Remember, Perry Cut Fire Department Funding by 75%

  • Where the hell is the President he likes to tour disaster areas oh I forgot this is Texas.

  • My grandsons and I will be out tomorrow to volunteer...

  • i have family in bastrop and seeing the damage in this video is devastating. but you texans sure know ho to stick together and pull through. keep your heads up and your hopes higher. xox

  • My teenage son made this video because he loves his city and he wants to help raise money for all those affected by this terrible fire. He's choosing to remain positive during these difficult times and I think that's wonderful. I am VERY proud of my son. Good job Zach!

  • Prayers to ALL of you who are suffering from the wildfires around Texas. Praise to the person who did this video - it helps us "see" what you are dealing with.

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! Think on the positive - you will get through this. I think it may be helpful for you to tell us more specifically what we can do to help...do you guys have any more immediate and specific needs? Lots of people are wanting to help - along with the RED CROSS DONATIONS, what can people do?

  • Great video, great song, great message!

  • Not sure what I think about the song but the photos really bring this home. Bastrop such a wonderful place - we are praying for all of you. I think it is true that this will inspire people to donate - I know it did me.

  • Hate to see this happening. Your song choice made it worse.

  • I used to live in colovista in 2005 then moved to Bryan house I grew up in is gone:(

  • Texans always pull thru

  • I grew up camping at Bastrop State Park and tears come to my eyes when I think about the loss of those beautiful woods and all the homes and lives. I understand the devastation that you are going through... I lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. I am praying for you all. May you see signs of hope as the days dawn. There were many for me and I know there will be for you as you take one day at a time!

  • Ve

  • Luv this video!!!

  • Had to help my family evacuate, Shit is scary

  • Just Awsome!!!!! Thank You, Thank You! I choked back the tears while feeling so proud of my community.

  • my moms house is gone in this fire and i think its great video. keep your head up and lets soldier on

  • I think it's a great video. My father lives in Cedar Creek off 21 and he was blessed enough to make it through this. I live in Honolulu and it felt so horrible watching all of this from here. I Know Texans will stand together and make it through this chaos.

  • The video is wonderful. I have friends sharing it as far as Maryland. People are hearing the music, stopping what they are doing to watch the video and wanting to know how to help.

  • I am smiliing thru my tears, this is a fantastic message to all of us.. Keep your head up.. Renew, rebuild. stay STRONG.

  • This is beautiful. I'm so happy you did this, brother. I think this shows how our family feels about this tragedy- we will all be OK. This is the worst thing to ever hit Bastrop Texas, but we are a strong community who will love on each other and get through this.

  • We love your video. We are going to play it during our live program tonight on television. When you go through bad times and you realize so many people are reaching out in love it changes you heart and your life. You can watch tonight at 7 PM

  • @christian7225 Which station?

  • now i feel like austins fires are freaking heaven beyond measure

  • If anyone reading this knows Judge Evans and his wife Elisabeth of Bastrop, PLEASE ask them to contact their friends in Houston. we are ALL extremely worried about the both of you. PLEASE respond to this post if you know how I can find them. Thank You for reading...God Bless

  • Praying and praying and praying for Bastrop and the people of Texas. We pray for rain and strength to the families that are dealing with this terrible tragedy.

  • Prayers are with my family in Bastrop. I'll be home next week.

  • This video will get thousands of views and prayers for the people of Bastrop and the more the word gets out the more help and prayers will come.Thank you for this video.

  • I am sure the person who put this together meant well, to those of us who are living through this hell, it is too much to take in especially with the overly done upbeat music.

  • @georgetta214 georgetta, sorry you feel this way. I;m sure the pain is horrible. I have sent this video to 300 people, if anything, some will donate and help those in need most.

  • @georgetta214 I forgot to mention to you that my nephew and his family live in Bastrop. He is the coach of the HS football team. Brian Miller or coach Miller.

  • @georgetta214 I think it depends on the person. I think it would be too much to me but one of my direct family members lost her home and is encouraged by this video. You're right that the person meant well. I hope things get better for you very soon.

  • @georgetta214 With all the views, this video is helping raise awareness of the disaster in OUR city. Donations will most likely follow with the popularity of this video. The reason this was put together is to give people some hope, this disaster is bad but we will get through it. Our community will come together and we will rebuild and help all of those in need.

  • georgetta214: As a person who is living through this disaster I was heartened by the video. I am fortunate my house is safe and my heart goes out to those who lost everything. In viewing this video I am struck with resiliency of my fellow neighbors in Bastrop County. In talking to many people in the last week, some who had lost everything and some who like me had homes to go to, the attitude is one of hope for the future...a 'let's get 'er done' attitude. I am proud to be a Bastropian.

  • @katgann1 Please continue to be strong...I know this has got to be so very difficult for all of you. We all continue to pray for all of the people affected by this fire...My mom lost her house, but hasn't lost hope! We can't change the past but we can take charge of the future and move on to bigger brighter days...God Bless you all! Know that there are millions of us across the country praying for and thinking of you all daily <3 Angela Carnegie

  • Dear @georgetta214 ... We're right here with you sharing this hell, even if we live so far away in Rockne. We see your loss, we see your pain. We feel it too. We as a community will help each other get through this catastrophic event. If you need someone to vent on, lean on (not gonna let ya punch me though .. :) ) call on when you need that too .. We're here for ya. Mark

  • @georgetta214 I understand completely. My family has lost everything and a lot of my family is suffering with the Bastop fires. Keep in mind that people have good hearts. This was well meant and we should be thankful people are focusing on what is going on here. There are many tragedies that get glossed over or ignored completely..

  • nice video.. the outpouring of love and support for my hometown is just overwhelming..

  • My friends although they don't even know where Bastrop is, they will still pray for them, and I will do too!

  • I'm sobbing, and we live 82 miles away. Friends who have lost everything, are in our hearts and prayers.

  • I can't stop watching... I can't stop crying... my head is up!

  • My brother and nephew lost everything.. this video really hits home.

  • Bastrop and area, we are grieving with you! And we are in this together!!! With love from Austin.

  • This video really makes it hit home. Family within 2 miles of fire, but praising God that they are very blessed to be safe and properties spared. Praying for home and business owners that have lost so much and for the brave firefighters that are still working hard to protect them.

  • We missed the fire by a few miles. Praying for you all. :""(

  • Whoever put this video together did a good thing. I'm sharing it everywhere I can. Thank you for making it!
