I'm pretty sure that sound is made by holding your fingers lightly over the strings of the guitar (so your fingers are touching the strigns but not holding them down) and moving your hand back forth.

Emocore is nothing that the word "emo" nowdays says. Emo is nowdays more of american hardcore/metalcore/screamo musically, but also it referrs to the teenfashion. Rather not call this emo, because it gives the wrong image about it.
