some advanced alien who just happened by Earth. RME
And some of the earlier Dr Who episodes. I understand the Catholic Church OF OLD did some bad stuff but to act like the catholic church is just like it was hundreds of years ago is nothing short of insane. I'm talking about 1960's dr who story "The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve". No wonder do many stupid people are so hateful towards ALL religious people. They have never been taught to respect people of any faith. Isn't it about time?
like IT NORMALLY DOES FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS, And just bury it's (collective) head in the sand. Ignoring problems do not make them go away. In fact it's like the story of the Camel and the tent. If you don't strike the Camel hard on the nose the minute he sticks his head in the tent, he will keep coming and coming and coming until pretty soon, your outside the tent and he is inside.
So laugh all you want. children might be taught that god isn't someone to be worshiped. No, he's probably just...
Well I know it's silly to get up in arms about what "might be" but rumors are swirling that the morons who write for Doctor Who are going to have it "revealed" that the Doctor is some sort of god. or something along those lines.
Well as a Christian and as a long time fan, I find such an idea completely repulsive and highly insulting. Besides the idea of presenting this fictional character in this ridiculous manner, it greatly undermines the original shows premise.
Actually real psychologists have done studies and have found about 5-10% of all (all over the world) science fictions fans are mentally ill. Of course the severity of their illness probably varies but I have noted some people here on youtube becoming extremely defensive when I've pointed this out. And I never pointed a finger at anyone, it was a general statement. Science Fiction also seems to attract a lot of sexual perverts and predators. I don't mean "kinky" I mean full fledged Pervert!
something a normal decent person would ever say, joking or not.
What is scary is how many teenage girls are looking up to this mentally ill character as a hero. No joke. I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering how many pen-pals even the most dangerous and malicious prisoners get.
Some deny she is ill, which is insane. Of course this character is insane. sane people do not hold even ONE person hostage just to get someone they met 3 times and have known for accumulative of 1 hr.
with fans. You know, REAL PEOPLE? This River Song character who is criminally insane by any (sane rational) definition has attracted fans who are equally mentally unbalanced. Some of the characters fans have tweeted things that whether they are serious or "joking" they are clearly in serious need of psychiatric help. That's not hyperbole. One psycho tweeted "If you don't think River is perfect, then you should shoot yourself in the face". Again, even if Sarah was "joking" that is not
But thankfully such a relationship did not come to pass.
However the character has gone from merely annoying to a sick, obnoxious, trashy, stalking sociopath who threatened to let trillions upon trillions die unless the (lead character) Doctor married her.
Now some say big deal its ALL FICTION. Well, yes, it is but it is still the fictional actions of a VILLAIN. Some fools are saying she is a hero, or that she & the dr are this "great love" relationship. it's like EXCUSE ME?! What is wrong...
I have no intention of taking up any sword. I don't know if your serious or your mocking me. if you are well, Jesus did warn that when those of us who stand on the word of righteousness should expect to be mocked so whatever.
Second such a relationship SHOULD be illegal. if it is not, then what is to stop adoptive parents from having relations with their adopted children? That is sick and the severe emotional damage such pukes would do to the child or adult would take years of therapy to fix..
@sallyjosie -- your own definition of 'incest' notwithstanding: I am not enjoying the River Song/Melody Pond arc (to predictable). However, the relationship between two un-related consentual adults is perfectly legal in this country (UK). -- While the relationship may be morally dubious it is not illegal. If as I suspect you are a science fiction fan then you may wich to consider the the lessons of the Vulacn IDIC.
I hope all good God-fearing folks are still paying attention to the rubbish contaminating the tv. It being made to appear that on the show Doctor Who that the lead character (the Doctor) will raise a child and then marry or take her as a lover. That is, of course, disgusting. Whomever raises the child would be to all intents and purposes, the childs parent. So any relationship between the 2 should be considered incestous. I sincerely hope that Steven Moffat isn't really going to do that.
@sallyjosie It is long past time for Christians to take BACK UP THE SWORD!! Democracy has failed us ..........Restore theocracy...and strike the wicked DOWN
@choralcathedral1 Thanks, but I meant who was the composer of the chant setting for the psalm (e.g., Turle, Attwood, Stanford, etc.) Sounds like a Victorian setting. Should be on the CD case if you have it.
Lovely stuff!!! Brings me back to those days when I wanted to teach my former church's congregation some of these chants (especially when yours truly wasn't gifted with the good-sized choir & organ ideally needed to pull off this kind of artistic result). I'm very glad the 3rd World is learning these things (from some of the reports on other of these Anglican-chant excerpts on YouTube) as my suspicion is that this heritage may well be very soon lost given how churches are in decline here, sad!
@LJBSasha is true, but the Word of God is fulfilled in the end times, this time of the third generation: "And because iniquity Shall abound, the love of many wax cold Shall." S. Mathew 00:12
Blessed are those who walk in the ways of the Lord, walk as Jesus walked.
This is so glorious!!! Who composed this setting of the Psalm. Thanks for posting. I've seen plenty of churches with choir stalls in the chancel, but have never seen a choir balcony @ the front of a cathedral-love it! Was a novel idea.
@blackmaestro As far as I can determine, the setting for verses 1-23 is by William Crotch (1775-1847) and the rest by William Longhurst (1819-1904). Crotch wrote a number of Anglican chant settings in the 1982 Episcopal Hymnal and appears to have been especially fond of this psalm. Willcocks does a fine job directing this performance--especially see the transition from verse 29 where the creatures (and the music) hush with terror and then come back strongly in 30 with the Spirit's breath.
Wonderful. Awesome. Edifying. Please keep up the good work. I never knew we could get to hear all these psalms again on this medium. I thought no one could get them. Thank God the beautiful chants are here. Keep doing the great work. I think the psalm that I am also looking for is 147. I think the same choir that chanted 148 did the same. Kindly see if you could upload it. God's blessing for ever.
A beautiful video of a sublime cathedral.....this video has been added to my favorites.

What version of scripture are they using?

@Bingdog805 This is from the Coverdale Psalter--used in the traditional Anglican service, but now superseded.
