  • Yeah, I get major "Harley Quinn" vibes every time she appears.

  • I love 1:06 - 1:14

  • It's a pain in the ass to storyboard though!

  • Awesome! Great Video.

  • Yes, a cartoon is most definitely real life.

  • that's right

  • Is this the same video that the WTF boom! videos came from?

  • Well spotted. That was how I came across this video, through WTF BOOM.

  • =:-)

    Do the Evolution !!

    =:-P

  • The same creative team that produced and animated this video at Epoch Ink Animation is producing a new animated feature—"War of the Worlds: Goliath", a steampunk SF battle epic.

Check out the Trailer or the Website at Heavy Metal magazine or Google the movie.

    Thanx.

  • fucking crazy.

  • The song is great but the video is absolutely amazing.

  • the death dance in joy while humanity kills each other, i just love the irremediable apocalyptic truth of the thematic in this song.

  • @irelandrocks2

sorry you had to learn that from me. usually people i interact with already know the rules.

  • okay then, MEH! hows that?

  • @irelandrocks2

    Only marginally better.

  • oh well, you'll just hsve to make the most of it then

  • @irelandrocks2

We already did. Our jackassery has taken up the whole first page of comments. I've been effing around here for a while and this is a first for me. Thanks! Let's do it again some time.

  • lol, good point, go us (^^)

  • Pearl Jam greatest. Thanks.

  • devastante..

  • Very dark...

  • WELL if you think about it a minute the evolution of the world always bent in violence war and slavery try finding an epoque where everyone was peaceful and there wasnt any killing...

  • This song and video was inspired by the book Ishmael by Dan Quinn- if you haven't read it then read it now. If you've already read Ishmael then read Endgame by Derrick Jensen... if you've already read both of these books you know what must be done - dismantle civilization!

The "evolution" Eddie sings about here is our cultures myth: We (the culture you're a part of) believe we know the best way to live on Earth and we must force all others to do the same. Even if it kills all life.

  • "I'm at peace, with my lust....I can kill 'cause in God I trust."

  • the best music.

  • 2:53 ITS THE WTF BOOOOM GUY!!!!

  • maybe we can evolve not to have snarky assholes like the ones filling this page. DO THE EVOLUTION!!!!!

  • I love this video!

  • Hallelujah

  • Ok Who's putting thumbs down on everybody ??

    I bet it's a religious guy :)

  • Your´re right!

  • depressing but WOW!!

  • Im a thief im a liar im my chirch i sing in the choir, Hallelujah Hallelujah! Its my ring tone on my friends phones!

  • isnt that death girl from another anime or sumthin? i remember seeing her before.

  • Batman beyond intro scene i think.

  • incredible song, incredible video. Makes me think alot about Pink floyd's The Wall.

  • Is it true that the cartoon is made from Todd McFarlane's films?

  • Todd McFarlane did the animation, but it was all original and choreographed for this song.

  • OK thx, now I can rest in peace XD

  • it`s a great an amazing song*****

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH****

  • So, does the girl represent death? Or does she represent the dark side of evolution, how the species continues to evolve, but yet people continue to act and behave violently and terribly, and basically be vicious and violent? Or maybe she represents both?

Its a great video, I really like it!

  • it's inspired by the book ishmael by daniel quinn

  • Hi josh :D

  • Am I the only one who said "Good riddance" at the end of the video?

  • Probably not!

  • lol nope.

  • Noooice fuckin song. lol@SlairMongrel. I was thinking the same thing when it started rollin' along.

  • Wow. According to the stats: Italy loves this song.

  • Italy? This lyrics is much more about USA...

"I can kill 'cause 'In God I Trust' "

"This land is mine, this land is free, I'll do what I want, but irresponsibly"

But of course, it is a criticism on the modern way of life in general, not about one country or another.

  • that comment was way too smart for the youtube audience

  • yah, almost all people would say this song points more towards the good ol u.s of a. but honestly this is sadly how most humans are in general.

  • "I'm a thief I'm a lier there's my church I sing in the choir."

  • Cant wait to see our species whiped out....hope its coming soon.

  • You wont be there to see it dumbass.

  • Fuck you cunt...you dont know that.

  • Are you retarded? A full extinction of the human race includes EVERYONE, even you.

  • And what makes you think I wont be here to FUCKING WITNESS IT you miserable idiot ??

  • i'm a thief, i'm a liar, theres my chuch i sing in the choir!

  • Wow. An entire issue of Heavy Metal packed into four minutes. Killer.

  • hard video ...but real

  • The best part 2:15

  • such a good commentary. Evolution spells the end of the B.S. Positive humanism movement. We're evil, opportunist creatures and should come to terms with it

  • This video makes me think about the current situation in the world with all the diseases and everything were are destroying ourselves.

I live in Mexico and it´s a nightmare right now!!!!

  • ITS EVOLUTION BABY!

God, I just want to scream that to people on some stupid news channel.

  • evolution is life....life is evolution...we and everything we know is constantly evolving....species, technology, logic, reason...were all just riding along...yeehaaww

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty much the matrix at 3:00.

  • I always thought he was saying "Admire me, admire my home, admire my son and admire my account". But now that I look through the net it doesn't say that anywhere ^_^ Well, it still would've made more sense than "here's my coat". That can't be it. Especially since money is as much a root of corruption and chaos as religion and technology. In fact, they're all practically the same thing anymore...

  • the reason he says "Here's my coat" is because that's one of the many vectors (as well as blankets) we used to kill off the Native Americans so we could exploit this land until the point its at now- non-supportive of life. Read Endgame by Derrick Jensen...

  • ...where in the hell did you get "here's my coat" from?

  • He doesn't say "here's my coat," fucktard. He says "he's my clone." He's alluding to the passing down of genetic fallacies throughout the generations.

Dumbspeak: Fathers try to make their sons into little copies of themselves.

Also: Those were smallpox contaminated blankets, not goddamned coats.

    Learn2 4th grade History, dickbag.

  • best clip EVER

  • This is easily the greatest music video of all time.

  • beatiful gifs 1:07/1:15 ^^

  • Song is great; I feel dirty just watching it.

  • There is no one meaning for this song. you define the art the art doesnt define you.

  • Actually Eddie is very open about the meaning and purpose of this song... If you ever listened to him talk in interviews he has a great interest in tribal cultures and "primitive" humans. This song is a tool used to raise awareness of our current problems (of civilization) and Pearl Jam wanted to say something with Yield: Let us please slow down and look ahead, we're driving fast towards something destructive. Read Ishmael by Dan Quinn.

  • poopie its not about that.

It's how though man has evolved and become more intelligent, we are still animals, and we are slowly turning into an enigma which will eventually destroy itself, where life will start the process over again.

  • Dead on!

  • If not then life earth is doomed as well as life in this galaxy. I doubt WE are the definite cause of our own demise but I do think life will eventually die out on Earth. I don't know I'm just ranting to random people.

  • Of course we are our own definite cause of our own demise. What is the single greatest hunter of humans? other humans. Some would argue viruses but far more humans have killed humans than viruses.

Everyday we are killing our kind, with bombs guns knives, all with inventions created by man to kill. If an asteriod or the sun doesn't kill us, humans will.

  • yet, despite being our own greatest hunters, we continue to multiply at a rate exceeding our own rate of self annihilation... If we are the source of our own extinction, it won't be war that kills us but starvation due to overpopulation.

  • You're discounting nuclear annihilation from the equation

  • whoever thinks the songs badmouthing religion, shut up fuck up the song is clearly about how man evolves, its simple, the smarter and more technologically advanced man becomes the more likely hes going to destroy the world through greed and hate. although religion is mentioned there more to it.

  • I saw this video on MTV when I was still a kid back in the days..

scared the shit out of me

  • girl is mysterious... she hypnotizes me

  • this video is badass.

  • My guess after reading the lyrics is that it's not just about religion, but also that we are complete hypocrites. And yeah, we have to change. But why fight over religion? They basically fall under one concept. There is a superior being, and there is a heaven or something.

  • Beautiful video

  • but...is a new song's PJ? it's so actually

    :-D

  • This was dawn by the same guy(s) what did Batman TAS, right? That show was the shit.

  • Nope, drawn by the same guys who did Spawn, even better.

  • It's not knocking on everything, it's simply telling about how no matter how much people say we change we aren't changing.

  • It's actually a commentary on how we CAN change.

  • yes admire my son hes my clone. either way its still a knock on religion and specifically christianity. and if we dont change shit up we will destroy the whole planet.

  • WTF BOOM!

  • Ci sono proprio tutti gli orrori della storia dell' umanita' ! Un grande video ! Bellissimo ! GREAT !

  • if you listen to the chorus he says admire me admire my home admire my SON admire my THRONE the song is basically a great big fuck you to religion and saying that if we dont stop letting religion start wars we will destroy the entire planet

  • he never said thrones , "admire my son , admire my clones"

  • It's "Admire my Son, here's my coat."

  • Comment removed

  • Admire my son, he's my clone.

  • Admire my son, he's my clone.

  • I always wondered the meaning of this song, but thinking more into it I've come to my own conclusion: Doing the evolution means "quit being such barbaric shits, it's time to get with evolution"

  • at first you think the video moves too fast but than it fucks you in the ass

  • this version has a great quality

  • Great video.

  • You can see the Statue of liberty in the explosion at the end. Jeez, this is heavy

  • o-o

  • 3:30 Yield

  • whoa lol so much going on i didnt even get to enjoy the animation

  • this song reminds me of how fucked up we are

  • amen to that

  • Um... that's the point

  • I love those two completely different sounding guitar sounds....

  • The line about the ignorant indians was probably coming from the mouth of an explorer... or so that's what I think...

  • Go satire!!

  • two things ive noticed about this video:

1: the guy at about 3:16 has tubes going into his pants, so yeah, hes gettin off.

2: just before the bomb engulfs the screen at 3:36, we can see a man killing himself pictured earlier, symbolizing the general suicide of the human race

  • this is DEEEEEP

  • KAYLEIGHHHHH!!!!

  • Wow, people really let fly on youtube, god bless pearl jam.

  • Right-wing conservatives

  • Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, or lust, or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, for he is the harbinger of death.

    - Cornelius, Planet of the Apes

  • its darwinism baby!!!

  • Darwins theories aren't just theories, they are true for all animals, but for us we have set ourselfs out of the "wild" world by advancing in intelligents. So, in a sense, Darwins theory would NO LONGER apply to humans.

  • few corrections.

His theories are theories since they are not facts but is widely accepted. its a theory because its being changed, facts cannot change.

And it does still apply to humans, wtf do u mean it doesn't?

natural selection is extremely promienent in human society.

for example birthweight. rly light and rly heavy babies tend to die as do the mothers, meaning the medium weight babies live to pass on their genes.

Just because we are highly intelligent doesnt mean we aren't animals.

  • I agree that we seem to place ourselves too high. We've done so much that we consider humans to be "above animals"

Humans are ten times as barbaric as, say, a tiger.

At least tigers don't find pain funny or amusing. However I do if it's just an animation. What was I talking about again...?

  • Have you read Ishmael? That was the inspiration for this song.

  • Ishmael? I'm guessing you don't mean Moby Dick right? I've never read either of them. XD

  • Lol, no, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. You should check it out, it's amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • Ishmael is life-altering. Every human being should read it

  • Is it worth to read?

  • Sadly, we seem to be removing ourselves from the theory, rather than simply no longer applying. Rather than letting the weak and sickly humans die, we're doing everything we can to save them. Underweight babies, babies with genetic defects, malformed organs/physical formation. In nature these weak creatures would die of their own accord. We're allowing these weak genes to survive.

Humanity has truely lost it's humanity. It's sad, isn't it?

  • RT: WeAreL3gion: stop being a neo malthus eugenics nazi and show some compassion to babies, monster

  • We'd be showing more compassion to babies by letting those who will suffer their whole lives die with dignity, before they truely have a chance to suffer.

You're the monster if you think allowing a Cerebral Palsy child to live his life is humane. Imagine not being able to feed yourself, or clothe yourself, or wipe your own ass, or masturbate? That's what its like for them everyday. That's worser than hell.

  • Some would say it's the anti-thesis of being humane to make the dicision for them.

  • If I was crippled at birth, I'd want to die. If I was crippled now in a car accident, same thing. What point is there in living if you can't live life?

  • Millions of people are crippled and don't want to die, I was in a car accident in '06. I shattered both my heels, fractured my kneecap, and tore my acl. I'm nowhere near severely crippled but I do live with a lot of pain. And the las thing I want is to die. I do agree that Genetic mdification is worse than Euthenasia, even though my name is a play on words "euthinization"... Get it? Because Genetic modification is pure vanity/egotistical, While euthenasia has can have misguided compassion.

  • There is nothing misguided in euthenasia. It's a good thing. Banning it on the basis that it is murder as a crime against humanity.

What's worse: Putting down a new-born child because of a serious mental defect, or preventing a suffering adult his/her right to die a painless death?

  • It would literally take millions upon millions of years to "weed out" all the bad genes through euthinasia. Since every human carries these mutations, though they are rarely expressed, it's an extremely ineffective means of forced evolution and/or sympathetic execution.

Over the long amount of time nessecary for these bad genes to be, again, "weeded out" of a population, many other genetic mutations would arise and in effect make euthinasia pointless in this regard.

  • thats why we should genetically modify all babies to be more perfect. well at least the rich ones. thats why i'm getting into science anyway.

  • Genetic modification is far, far worse than any form of Euthenasia.

  • If used wrongly, I strongly agree.

  • I don't let my very mild physical disabilities get in the way of me living my life. Right after my accident, when both my legs were in casts up to th knee, I thought my injuries to be much more severe than they were. I made friends with a few crippled people, one I'm still very close to today. He snapped his spine in a motocross accident when he was 16, he's paralyzed from mid chest down. I've never met anyone with as much of a love for life as him.

  • You seem to believe we should put down everyone who has a slight disability. If that were the case I'd be dead too due to respiratory problems. Your friend, by the sounds of it, still has the ability to use his arms. He's still capable of doing things for himself. What if he were crippled from the neck down? Do you think he's appreciate life just as much? Appreciate not being able to feel anything?

  • No, I was trying to conceptualize your argument. We can't project how we think we would feel if paralyzed/disabled onto those who are, to do that and then make decisions from those assumtions is to rob them of the right to decide. And that my be the only freedom they have left.
