The conductor also has a key operated switch that has to be put to the "door enable". When that happens the power to the engineers panel gets cut off to prevent the train from being moved with the doors open.
That's great. They opened the doors on the wrong side. I don't understand how. You know how that works? There is a button that the engineer and conductor have to both press to get the doors to open on the correct side. If the engineer doesn't press the right button, the doors can't be opened.
LOLZ...this reminds me one day when I saw this train above me on the J line on Jamaica Ave and I saw the doors open on the wrong side...I did not know on test trains they do this. I figured they would test speed, braking, and rail handling on different lines and to see what stations it can fit in.
Its called a burn test. each newset of trains must get 50 rail hours before its accepted into the fleet. COnductors open the doors on the opposite side for one trip then usually go back to Jamaica Yard.
Great video! But all the test trains open the doors on the wrong side. I mean the first time I saw that it was crazy and I was scratching my head in confusion.
Oh my god! R160 on the G? You got to be kiddin'. I saw the R160 on the G line to Smith-9 Sts at Myrtle-Willoughby Avs, but it's not testing, and did not open the other door.
i saw it in revenue service on saturday night. the lead car was 9173. probably was on the f, but since the f's are running on the a this weekend, they turned it into a g. i wish i was there when you filmed this lol!
at the end yous said they're testing it

Very nice video. It's funny how people are quick to point out that something is wrong when they're just ignorant of the situation...
