Now I'm starting to think the people who go here to post their comments about Green Day's genre are record labels cause they always argue about the band's genre, labeling them with what genre they think this band is.
i have this song on my ipod and its supposed to be about 3:05 but for some reason when i sync it the song on the ipod plays alot slower and is about 8:00 long, why is this happening? is there something wrong with the audio file because i downloaded a different file same thing, converted it, same thing, whats wrong with this song?
@DestroX71689 by the way when i open it in a digital program like itunes or winamp it plays at regular speed only when i sync it to my ipod, none of my other songs have this problem

I don't do too bad of a job; I make sure that when I sing a song I'm not totally butchering it. Fair enough; I stand by mine as well. I'm not into modern punk and/or pop to begin with... but Husker Du was mentionned several times in interviews by Nirvana, the Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters and Soundgarden in the 1990's.
those are/were influential bands, so Husker Du doesn't need a cheap imitator like Green Day to get more recognition.

I don't do too bad of a job; I make sure that when I sing a song I'm not totally butchering it. A word of advice, come up with better comebacks than calling people pricks and fuckers; it's not making a good case for yourself. Better yet, come up with a valid argument. I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to waste your time trying to look halfway intelligent.

Fair enough; I stand by mine as well. I'm not into modern punk and/or pop to begin with... I'm actually really into metal and a decent amount of 80s hardcore punk/crossover thrash, so to even like the original, for me, is saying a lot. I just think it was a well-written song, and I happen not to enjoy this version at all.

I am of the rare people here who aren't stuffy enough to hate a band for doing a cover of another band they admire. Nor will I hate on Green Day cause they are popular or write hooks are who cares. I'll also say that I like Green Day. Actually, I like Green Day A LOT. But Billy Joe has nothing on Bob Mould here and it would be unwise to claim anything to the contrary. man i cant believe how far this video has circulated. i mixed the studio version audio of this into the tv version, the original had billie and mike talking over it so thats why i did it. thats also why you cant hear billie scraping his guitar on the mic stand. i should have put my name in the corner so people would belive me. this video was circulated thanks to good old Kazaa for those who remember it.

Take the Clash as an example. Their debut album was a brilliant, sonic 3 chord assault on the senses back in the late 70s. It was a reaction to the complacency of the music scene and political landscape of the time.
