If I could be emperor, I'd gladly disenfranchise the Christian right from even participating in the political process. Perry exemplifies how dangerous they really are.
im not scared about rick perry at all, im confident to say their are way more people int he U.S who are pro gay rights then anti, i do agree with one person on here who said that their will aways be anti gays in the world but i do believe as we realize gays are just your normal every day human being that the population of homophobic will keep getting smaller
the problem is, Perry is appealing to right wingers, of which there are many (no offence for the assumption, but many southern states). If elected by the Republicans he may garner a strong following, which does worry me, even if I'm not a US citizen. This is reminds me of Anita Bryant and John Briggs, over 30 years ago? we, as a society cannot reverse this progress.
@Calvinios Yes we can. 30 years ago *no* state in the US had marital equality. No nation had it either. Now both of those things are true now. You keep fighting until the bastards put you down. Remember: first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. We are in stage three.
Why is it that republican politicians only bother to appeal to 15% of their base, while ignoring the rest of the people in their party? It's as if they assume every republican is a christofascist theocon.
These kids may not have a high level of political awareness, but they have other, much more important qualities: common sense and a moral background that isn't fooled by passive-aggressive bigotry. The future looks a tad bit brighter suddenly.
I'm extremely pleased that these teens are seeing through Perry's hatred and agenda, and I also like that they don't seem to impressed by mixing politics with religion. I'm also pleased to tell you that most of the Christians I know would be outraged by this man's message of hatred, and would point out that it has nothing to do with what they believe.
May Rick Perry serve only as an example to others.
The sad thing is, even though the younger generation finally seems to start going into the right direction (doesn't matter how bad or well informed), I'm pretty sure that we'll be seing another homophobic, "God talks to me and orders me to attack country X" Republican become president next year. After all, we're talking about the same political landscape here that complains about Obama killing the economy (that little bastard somehow started doing so years before he even became president :P).
@JimahoAlMabin Conservatives have spent a lot of time & money to make sure to muddy the waters. To convince Americans that it was not they that destroyed our economy. It is sad.
@tetsubo57 And they seem to be incredibly successful at it, too. I've talked to people I'd normally consider fairly intelligent, yet they completely fell for it.
(Then again I bet it's simply a lot easier when you're looking at things from outside.)
Though I'm with cockroach2 - IF the US can stomach another couple of years in conservative hands, I just hope it will come out of it a whole lot more open, tolerant and definitely a lot wiser, in a "once burned" kind of way.
I'm kinda surprised that the Republicans continue to campaign on an issue that's so clearly doomed in the long run. In 50 years we're gonna look back on ads like these the same way we look back on people like Strom Thurmond campaigning on segregation today. The tide of history is on our side.
@cockroach2 Of course it is. But conservative folks by their very nature resist change. Hence why they are conservative. They will cling to their petty bigotry until the very end.
Im a conservative, but that doesn't excuse Perry's retardedly redneck views

Man, I can't wait to see what happens to Perry's future in Texas.
All his opponent has to do is demand a debate.
