Jimmy page and Hendrix are equal. There both insanely when it comes to guitars. Hendrix and page are the best guitarist ever!! FUCK SLASH. I wish Hendrix was still alive :/
thanks for this takes me back a long way love this,i met the man in buddy guys club and gave him two buttons that said chicago blues and bought the man a drink and shook hands with the man ,and told him besides,my grandfather and uncle you are one of the reasons i play guitar
@ilikebigbutts58 Fully agree with your comments and Jimmy is an absolute gentleman. I think we should refer to Jimmy as the elder statesman of the modern electric guitar.
@Rocknroller5555 EVH is one of the best guitarists, but to say he created shredding is insane. Many guitarists before his time shredded, it just wasnt that popular in the guitar world yet. Eddie popularized finger tapping, something Brian May was doing years before Eddie came on the scene.
In his biography it says when orchestras were becoming really big in music in the early 60's Page walked in to a orchestra recording trying to make observations he trys to blend in so he picked up his guitar and a violin bow ....
That is pretty cool but he wasnt the pioneer of playing the violin bow with guitar. Eddie Phillips was the first to do it and Page admitted thats where he got the idea from. Its obvious though that Page was way more innovative with it and took it to a completely higher level.
@dt089 thats a pretty bold statement too make.... Who knows what the future will hold for guitars and guitar players. Jimmy page was amazing but too say that there will never be another person as good as him is ridiculous! Also define "The best". Music is all about personal preference. Music effects us all in different ways, one song may reach out to somebody and effect them, and it may not have the same effect on your or me..
@bluesun1989 You better believe thats a bold statement and I'm confident backing that up. The impact Page had on music and guitarists is legendary and if you think another guitarist will come along in the future and will make a bigger impact than Page, or Hendrix did, then I think you need to take a good hard look at music in todays day in age.
Hes got like... Phaser, Wah, Delay, and chuorus Flange going.. at the same time.. Cool. i have a similar setting on my Line 6 Spider 2 amp. (it comes with everything..) I dont have a violin bow tho =(
Jimmy page is the best guitar player ever. Just to let some of you guitar players know, most pawn shops have like 2 dollar bows to wreck if you wanna try this shit. If anyone wants that tabs/chords for this, i have them. (most of it anyway)
As far as i know jimi hendrix played with the pick between his teeth not just his teeth, unless thats what you meant. Not a big deal though. Good day!!!
This is the bow section of 'Dazed and Confused' live. It is from 'The Song Remains The Same' movie from 1976. The footage is from several nights at the Madison Square Garden in NY city, 1973.
Jimmy Page is the most amazing guitarist. Back in the day, effects and all that stuff wasn't common, and tons of it hadn't even been invented yet, so it's not like today where we just say "i wonder what effects he was using in such&such song". but it was like, "how the hell did he make that noise?!" what a genius
anybody can buy a shitty $30 bow but in 1976 there was no digital effects petals thats why this new stuff today is rubbish if your going to critize someone put your brain in gear before your mouth.
Jimmy climbing the mountain side at full moon behind Crowley's old Boleskine house on the shore of Loch Ness during Dazed and Confused is the BEST PART.
This was great. The story I heard was that Page got the idea of using a bow from David McCallum's (from the 60's TV show "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.") father who was a classical violinist. True or not, a good story.
That part at 1:05 always gives me chills

Don't forget Eddie van halen, he essentially changed the way every guitarist would play and thus created shred

Ah Alright.
I just ran over to my Led Zeppelin book as fast as my legs would take me, but there is no violin solo to be found. (I didn't think there would be :P)
Does anyone know how to play this, or if there is music anywhere?

i found tabs for the chords he uses when he hits the bow against the strings, but that's it.
