  • Sin does not exist.

  • It's interesting to see GEERUP go on about his categorical moral view. Morality as custom, as dictated to you by some authority... it's hard for we post-moderns to take seriously. I mean it's difficult for me to believe such a thing ever existed, but here it is. Morality without relation to personal utility, without reference to suffering or consequences of any sort. In short, an imperative with no reason, a mere 'thou shalt' suffices for GEERUP.

  • @GnosticAgnostic Upon analyzing your response to this video I must conclude you are merely dismissing my moral viewpoint because of your personal unbelief. All modern morality has its ties historically to that of natural law and its biblical directives. Most of our current foundational laws are based upon such. take for instance " all men are created equal" and we hold these truths to be self-evident.

  • @GEERUP

There exist many moral theories which have nothing to do with natural law or Biblical directives: egoism, virtue ethics, Deontology, Utilitarianism, etc. Perhaps you mean to say that some founding American documents borrow considerably from Locke, who was in turn likely influenced by his faith?

  • Sin is meaningless. If there is no way for a person to be free of sin, who cares about sin? It's just a word that is made up to make people feel bad about themselves, which is obvious when you look at the bible. That's pretty much what the bible is all about: We should feel bad about ourselves. It's a mind trick, nothing else.

  • Hey Geerup;

Sin is just another term born out of superstition and for the purpose of mentally indoctrinating gullible people to afraid to question such madness. In short, sin is a myth.

  • Definition of sin:

1 John 3:4 "Sin is the transgression of the law. We can understand it came from Lucifer as when he exalted himself above the throne of god Ezekiel 28. But if we were to truly understand what sin is then we could excuse it...By the way great video

  • "Sin" is one of the major characters in the video game Final Fantasy X, an enormous monster that pretty much destroys everything it comes across, in the hopes that a summoner will reach the ruins of Zanarkand and kill it, to end its pain. The summoner dies in the process, and Sin is killed, only to be reborn a few decades later, and the cycle continues.

Also, "err" is pronounced very much like "air".

  • Two years later but I need to ask where do I find the mark to live by, Does God tell me where to find this mark?

  • Yes, gods law is programmed into our heads, but satn wants to keep us confused, but the bible also describes the mark, everyone will miss the mark , because we will all sin, and we have all sinned

  • the 10 commandments. If you have trouble remembering them, then do what Jesus said. "Love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself"

  • I John 3:4 "Sin is the transgression of the law....."

We miss that mark. And yes It's the simplest biblical definition of "Sin"........(^_~) winky*

  • The Bible says sin is disobediance to the law, which is the Ten Commandments.

  • amen, thats right.

  • I am glad that Jesus Christ died for my sins, he is the true LORD and SAVIOR of the world. Jesus Christ deserves all the glory for his deat and resurection as he is the living son of God, who has conquered EVERYTHING evil.

Jesus is thy rock, thy rod, thy staff thy redeemer. Take care GEERUP.

  • sin missing the mark

hmmm not fulfilling your true purpose getting distracted by ego. persuing the way by the mind the truth by the passion and creating it through life making the word flesh and dealing it amongst other amen

    great vid nicely explained

  • You don't really believe that do you?

  • If the "slightest sin" as you say, prevents us from entering his presence, then how can ANYONE get into heaven? We are all inherently sinners, as he supposedly created us. It's almost as if the game was set up for us to fail.

  • Through the grace of God, Jesus Christ the savior

  • Then you were not correct in saying the slightest sin prevents us from entering into his presence? We don't have to be perfectly sinless, through the grace of Jesus?

  • Aye, we don't have to be perfectly sinless, as long as we have faith in Jesus Christ, and do not sin carnally.

  • So we can have faith in Jesus...sin carnally and still not be saved?

  • I think that if you had true faith in Jesus, you would not want to sin carnally. If you do continue to sin, repent and turn away from sin and put trust in Christ and your desire to sin will begin to fade. That's what I believe anyway, hope it helps.

  • That didn't help at all, I'm trying to figure out why sinning carnally is worse than any other sin. that seems to be what you are saying.

  • When you sin to temporarily please your body = carnal sin, basically all sins are carnal. We can however sin through our misjudgment, which is why it's important for us to study the gospel . I've still got a lot to learn though so I may be wrong. Anyway, God bless, and I hope you learn truly what it means to follow Christ.

  • yea but if we ask god for forgivness and if we truly mean that he will forgive us for our sins. he will still hold onto you no mayyer how evil you are he still loves you.

  • is it considered a sin if you do somthing say somthing illegal but no one was hurt by it and no suffering was caused by it?

  • yes..sin is To violate a religious or moral law or legal law. btw all laws have a moral to them.

  • Sin: A weakend state of human nature in which the self is estranged from God.

  • Amen. jeff you said it ...hope to see a post from you soon Blessings

  • Thanks for breaking down the definition of sin. Very thought provoking.

  • On May 3, I invite you to participate in "Meet At City Hall" from 12:20 pm to 12:40 pm during the National Day Of Prayer. At thousands of city halls across the country, individuals will gather to pray for a moral rebirth in our country. The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress which encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its leaders.

  • America desperately needs a moral rebirth. We should be ashamed of the kind of immoral society we are leaving our children and grandchildren. We need to implore God's blessings on our country. We need to ask God to forgive our sinfulness and restore our moral perspective. (May 3, National Day Of Prayer)

  • II Chronicles 7:14 says: "If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

  • Err is pronounced the same as air. A "sin" to me is only one thing, it is when you commit an act that harms or disrespects another person(violation of their rights). I believe these to be natural laws, that we are compelled to follow. Those that do not, step outside the realm of their responsibility to humanity. And when they do so, they must learn the consequence.

  • that would say that sin is possible without there being a God, which I don't think is possible erally though.

Sin is the whole idea of disrespect for God and His laws, not humanity's is it not?

  • no it is about being without god, nothing to with good and evil

  • You are absolutely correct!

  • Read Ashetheraven's comment. As the raven says, nevermore! Our role to humanity is the only one we should respect, "sin" is a concoction of man. But, it does not preclude us from respecting and not imposing on our fellow man. I'm not aware of which word would satisfy you to represent this view.

  • sin is denial of God, if you don't believe in God it is impossible to you to commit this act, it would not apply to you at all. It has nothing to do with humanity it has to do with God.

the dictionary defines sin as :"Noun

an act that is regarded by theologians as a transgression of God's will"

Take God out of the picture, and sin merely ceases to exist.

  • can you see the " "? This means I use theists terms so they understand the concept. Of course there is no sin, but that doesn't mean nature doesn't hold a set of rules which we must abide by in order to interact. It's called common sense, humans have this, we suspect animals do not. I do not behave as an animal.

  • I am truly sorry I have offended Ashetheraven. My comments were "out-of-line"(rude!) concerning a certain bk person. I agree my comments needed to be taken off because they caused division between us, not peace!! My actions were inappropriate. I do receive correction from Ashe but he will never know that!! I was hoping he would accept my apology?

  • Accepted. I thank you for that

Hope you are well and no hard feelings

  • Thank you for accepting my apology. I do feel MUCH better after hearing from you. I realize we are from 2 different view points and thats OK. I accept that! I believe we can learn from each other....again, thank you.

  • Since Ashetheraven has banished me from his site; my sins remain against him and have separated me from him. He no longer will hear me or talk to me. The only way I can get my message of sorry to him is through a "mediator" - Parymich777. (true to life illustration)

On a larger scale...Gods anger has banished us from HIS site. Jesus Christ is now the only acceptable "mediator" between us and God.

  • Oh and I lfted the block by the by, it takes a lotof courage to apolgise. Very few do on YouTube and that always gets respect from me ^^

  • .....and I respect you for doing so!...Thank you!!

  • Parymich you are welcome to expound on this( true to life illustration) to Ashe since he is not talking to me. I didn't mean all this to happen but since we are on the subject of sin.. You are welcom to go for it. Thanks...Love Bonigee

  • You have made an interesting point, and wise of you to post where he may read it! I hope Ashetheraven understands that in order for us to resolve conflict, we must keep the lines of communication open. The Raven seems very reasonable, I hope your apology is accepted. We must all be allowed to speak our minds and be willing to disagree without animosity.

  • I agree. We have to agree to disagree and a times accept that opinions wont change no matter how much you push them

  • I try not to accept defeat. If a person is unwilling to listen to your point, yes, you must allow him his belief. But if he seeks to discuss, always listen and clarify your point, he may find understanding. I believe thought is a part of the evolutionary process, at some point all mankind will catch up. Probably not in my lifetime, but I look to the future as well.

  • All I can do is put my point across, but I wil not evangalise it constantly, I woudl become exactly what I hate about relegion

  • So true, but I think Bonigee is truly sorry he offended you. I think you should hear him out.

  • Sorry, didn't look back to see you already opened a dialog with him. Very happy! Everyone deserves a second chance.

  • I can't stand a world where people aren't given a second chance.

  • Me either! And when you are given it, you best be grateful and use it to its fullest potential. For some people are very stingy in giving it out!

  • I thank both you and Raven for your kind comments. I understand I cannot change you nor can you change me and that's ok.!! The only person I have power to change is myself!! I think the greatest thing we can get is "understanding" of one another.

  • Oh thank you! You speak my mind as well on this matter! I am a humanist, I respect the rights of all, for then I deserve the rights I expect. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Thank you, GEERUP !!!

You bring it excellent to the point. Very good. I saved this to my favorites :-)

  • Keep up the great work bro

  • jesus christ died for you on the cross he paid for your sins because he loved you believe in him trust him and confess hes name. and you will be saved from the wrath of god. SIN MUST BE PAID FOR WITH DEATH.

jesus paid the price for you he went to hell for you so that you dont have to.god wants you to put your trust in hes son.

  • Why don't you answer the question properly?

1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

  • I believe sin to be a moral ideology based on the observations of what works for an individual based on their needs and desires. I believe the 10 commandments were suggestions to bettering our lives. But I don't think god has preference in our lives in that matter of expecting us to live up to a certain way.

  • Food for thought, thankyou

And thankyu for your opening words I truly appreciate it

  • he's right though, ash, you are a decent guy, rare here to find. :D

  • Sin seems to be defined as not living up to an impossible standard, but if we try to live up to an impossible standard, we won't go to hell (or we get to go to Heaven--however you prefer to view it).

  • That's why God's son was sent to give us a fresh start when ever we are willing to admit that we have sin. It's a narrow road. He never said it would be easy. But as His children, it's the best that we can do in this world stained with sin!

  • What then? shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If Jesus is not LORD of your life then sin will have control over you. The addiction of SIN pays you wages: death even hell! Who sits on the throne of our heart and rules

  • And who escatly made Hell?

God made it, to punish us for a crime ourancestors commited. God sacrficing himself is pointless becasue it's him who needs accept responsibilty for a ridiculous punishment. Sins of the father is wrong

  • no, hell was originally created for the devil and his angels, not for man to begin with.

  • If this is the definition of sin then I love to sin.

  • Most people love to sin my friend. Even the early disciples admit to finding pleasure in sin. I do as well. Unfortunately, that doesn't make it any more right than overdosing!

  • Well spoken indeed..5 stars

  • Yes, you should be better. We all should. Really, you sound like an evolutionist, in a way. For me, it is obvious that our sense of morality is an advatageous

adaption for social order, but that's just my opinion....

  • But what is the aim? What is glory? what are you supposed to live up to? What is good? I can keep going... Again, how are we supposed to tell which book (all of which claim to be the sacred word of whichever god) knows what the rules are? what is this grand goal you keep speaking of? ......

  • The aim is to be obedient to that which God has given us in His word. Glory is the fulness of the presence of God. We should always strive to "Be Holy as He is Holy", but because of the sin in this world, we lose sight of what that means. The only way to know how to do that is follow what is laid out for us in the Word. If you read it as a whole with that question in mind, it will be clear as day to you.

  • I fear it already is. I'm sorry but I really can't see it your way

Missing the mark is one thing, it still doesn't answer why we should die for something that even the bible says is a natural condition.

  • The first manAdam's sin brought death and condemnation to all; it made people sinners. When law came in, that only increased the trespass. It showed up sin for what it was. The end result is disaster!! By contrast Christ brought life and acquittal; "As in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive" (1 Cor. 15:22).

  • Which makes Gods's "plan" flawed or that there was no plan. We can't have it both ways

  • There is that word again. Obiedience.

I can't obey a falible contradictory system and no matter how many times you dent it, it is. I can't get over the gaping holes, the contridictions the very idea that a bunch of mistakes somehow make this deity something to be worshiped,

Sorry not trying to attack, just making it clear where I stand

  • Romans 3:20,23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become CONSCIOUS of sin." So the law is good in that it made us recognize that sin is the transgression of the law. This is by God's design, because only when we understand our weakness will we consider relying on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus.

  • "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become CONSCIOUS of sin."

It's impossible for a feayuis to be even aware of the law

    See Paslms 51.5

  • You are right! Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace we are saved through faith; NOT of ourselves; it is the gift of God; NOT of works, lest any man should boast. Jesus came for sinners. (we are sinners) John 3:16 God so loved the world (you, Ashetheraven) that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should NOT perish, but have everlasting life.

  • But that is a pointless gesture. We are the product of the punishment of Adam. The sins of our fathers, therefore there was no point for him to die as it was Gid's fault we were in this mess for not giving his actions any forethought.

And to be frank, why is death such a bad thing? Why do we fear something that only adds value to our existence?

  • physical death vs. spiritual death.

My body might die but my soul never dies. The value to our existance as you put it, rests on our souls, and what we choose to do with that. The physical body is only temporary and is an outward evidence of the things that reflect on our souls.

If I die from lung cancer, say from smoking, it is physical evidence of my sin of disobedience to God in my soul.

  • Why are you so concerned over eternal life? Eternal life gives us nothing. Mortality is what makes us the people we are. Wheter we live our lives or waste them. I know I'm not going to change yur vierw on that, but yes I do see a great beuaty in a great nothing. It's not howwe die that matters but how we live

  • to me it matters how we live because of my eternal life. what I do on this earth affects my future in heaven, why would I not care for this life then? I have much at stake to this life AND the next, all you have to consider is this one.

  • I have conseidered it for 20 years. The bible only confirems to me my doubt in God, his existence or indeed his love. Call me a Malithiest if you must but it's about thime we came to realise that God was as much responsible for our sin as we are, if we are to beleive what your bible is telling us. If God wants to take away a beautiful thing such as our mortality, then we are doomed to destroy our world, becasue what have we got to loose or gain?

  • it just seems too hopeless to look at things that way, it's sad that you see it that way, I feel that there is much to lose or gain.

God is not responsible for our disobedience to him, we are responsible for oue actions. He is there to help us, yet we are so selfish and stubborn that we insist on doing it our way, how is that His fault? I don't think it is

  • He created satan knowing full well what his role and destiny would be... is that tough love?

He created the tree knowing full well what ould happen, and what Satan would do... tough love?

He punished thouasnd sof generations of children for the sin of one mand and woman.. is that tough love?

Or is it invictitive of a God who claims nothing is possible without him, when in your own words it actually is. Maybe your God isn't what he claims to be, and he wouldne't be the first God.

  • Take a look at Sablechickens video: How do we honor Jesus on Easter?

It will give you insight into the actual crucifiction of Jesus Christ, an innocent man, how they mocked him, how they set a murderer free instead. You can rent this movie at Block Buster. It's called: The Gospel of John. It's the most acurate account that I have EVER seen. I feel strongly this movie will answer the questions you have. I'll talk to you again OK?

  • I just realized according to Psalms 51:5 are you meaning fetus? (feayuis was not in the dictionary) A fetus is righteous, has no consciousness of sin nor is it guilty of breaking any law whatsoever. However we are not righteous to kill a life that is already forming.

  • It never says that. It says we are concieved in sin. God makes no distinction. In reference to your second answer, sin is not a state of evil it is a state that is without God according to the bible.

If such a state of indendence is vile to God, especially as he put it there it raises doubt to to his onipotence.

On the subject of abortion tat is another topic for a nother time.

  • Are you saying that God created sin? Sin was originated by the fall of Lucifer to heaven. When Satan decided to put himself above God, that was the original sin. When we choose to put ourselves above God we do the same.

  • "Are you saying that God created sin?"

Yes and I'm not going to repeat why. No amount of storytelling can replace those famous words in Isah

"I create good and evil, light and darkness, I the Lord do all thses things"

  • We are all sinners. It is part of the human condition.

  • great job
