@zielonybaleron Muzyka nie zna słowa "rocznik". Nieważne ile mamy lat , ważne, że łączy nas milość do takiej muzyki i, że potrafimy świetnie się bawić na koncertach.
My friend George put me onto this album back in 1985 quite some time after it's release and I immediately loved it - not one bad track on it. Would be great for them to do a reunion tour. Great songs, great memories....
101 personas están muy confundidas , yó por mi parte convencido de que la ELO es la música de mi vida.5 de Octubre de 2011 , teatro Cauplican,Santiago de CHILE.
I remember the very first ELO album I bought...it was on cassette. What an incredible band...nothing like them. I was fortunate that while stationed in England I got to see ELO II perform live at the Apollo Theatre in Oxford England. It was like having a private concert.
always liked this song from the disco-very album but sadly it seemed to mark the beginning of the end for the string section..the "orchestra" in electric light orchestra. time, secret messages, balance of power they slowly become less of a factor on those albums
Maaan! This sure brings back memories... Used to listen to them on 45 rpm vinyls... Or 19cm/s high fidelity tape recorders... Casettes were still not comparable to those. Used quarter of an inch width 4 tracks magnetic tape reels. Great times!!!!
ELO was the first group to add orchestra instruments to their band which gave it the unique sound. The bubblegum music today will never compare to the sounds of the 80's.
I used to get lost in this song. If they ever formed again......OMG I would be first there to buy a ticket. The most magical band ever. Why can't we see musicians like this now. ELO you totally Rock!!!!!!!!
Long Time ago....makes me melancholically upset! Its unbelievable how time goes from a provincial Town in Germany to the Top Of the world ...Hollywood
love this song. still have all there singles and albums on vinyl. also got cds. all my children brought up with elo. youngest son is 17 and loves the music. midnight blue is another awesome track.long live ELO.
My buddies and I in Hilliard Ohio's Colonial division in the 70's used to make fun of Yamaha keyboards,Ovation guitars, and blue violins. I swear the kids of today could make good music if they tried, but they have no taste. Come on, show some balls! I know what you're saying @winterstellar I kept my secret affection for ELO too. Whatever happened to everyone knowing what cool was even if we couldn't be it? Now they simply haven't a clue. Although some do, my 17 year old is cool just being him.
This was one of my favourite bands when I was a kid, but I never told my friends. I worried that they might think it was "cheesy" or something! I still think the music is great.: )
@frizzlefrap No, I just added a letter infront of interstellar. The avatar I wanted was taken. I could of just added a number, but I did it like this instead. I wasn't aware it was an actual name when I made it, but I too have noticed that some actually have that name. : )

Indeed at times of tribulation the (true) scholars arise to help illuminate the masses amidst the clouds of confusion. Even some kids today are appreciating the genius of ELO and Jeff Lynne.....usually through playing Grand Theft Auto and the ilk...They can never be copied!
it's taken me more than 30 years to realise how brilliant ELO are/were - saw 'Orchestra' at York in 2008 and now buy and play as much of their music as time allows.
I really wish I had appreciated them first time round as my old mate Graham Hogger recommended!! - all the best Graham you were so right about tham
Love this music since is I was a younger boy. I'm 50 years old now and still love the music of ELO. The Orchestra of today is a far cry from what they made in the '70s. But that's the meaning of a simple Dutchman...
When I was in Germany around 1979, on the juke box of a local pub, they had this song with a German language version on the flip-side. Anyone else hear that version?
@bed928 Don't be so harsh, you have to feel sorry for these cretins who are outnumbered by about 40 to 1, they are probably x factor fans who wouldn't understand or appreciate proper music all the time their arse points downwards.
The problem for ELO was that we were all listening to new wave in 1979 and this song, though very good, felt old fashioned at the time. Ditto ELO's image - big hair was very backward by then. They couldn't adapt their image to the times. This was pretty much their swansong.

They may have lost their fair-weather fans, but they don't count anyway! And big hair was not backward, it was just taking off! Also, Jeff and Kelly cut their hair for the next LP "Time", if that helps.
@stinkypants10 He's not totally wrong, a lot of bands that were popular in the early to mid 70's did have a hard time from 78 - 85 when New Wave hit, there was a definite rejection of "old rockers". Whether you want to call ELO old rockers or not is subjective but it's true. A lot of these bands were brought back into the light recently from people like us that have a nostalgic sense to music from our youth.
Bands like Elvis Costello,Talking heads, Police etc took a lot of these guys out.
@stinkypants10 I understand where you're coming from. You can't simply all of a sudden dislike something you liked. The point I was trying to make was there was a new type of music the "new ears" wanted to listen to and they didn't take time to listen stuff from the past. It's like kids now saying Zeppelin sucks because it's "old people's music" dismissing it outright without giving it a chance. Peace!
@stinkypants10 He's not totally wrong, a lot of bands that were popular in the early to mid 70's did have a hard time from 78 - 85 when New Wave hit, there was a definite rejection of "old rockers". @stinkypants10 - I was a teenager at the time, a record buyer. We were all listening to Elvis Costello and Ian Jury at the time. Don't get me wrong, I love this song but there is no escaping the truth that this was terribly old-fashioned in 1979. How many records did ELO sell in 1980?
@tonymontana1974 Forgive my developmental disorder, as previously stated. I meant Ian Dury who you've clearly never heard of but was one of the best UK new wave artists of the time, with one of the most talented backing groups in my recollection. Hope that helps.
@stinkypants10 E.L.O were well before their time, i'd lay odds their 70's stuff would have made big 80's hits. old fashioned not, i'm in agreement with stinkypants (love the name by the way). This one i remember played every hour when radio one was worth listening to!!!!!!!!

@Johnnywhamo Like I said, only fair-weather fans "rejected" ELO. Good riddance to those wankers.

Peace!

@trashcanalive Stop repeating yourself. It's only your opinion. You don't even know the guy's name is Ian Dury...Jesus!

@tonymontana1974 Forgive my developmental disorder, as previously stated. I meant Ian Dury who you've clearly never heard of but was one of the best UK new wave artists of the time, with one of the most talented backing groups in my recollection. Hope that helps.

@stinkypants10 - I forgot to say that I have Aspergers Syndrome and this song is therefore a bit of an anthem for me :-)

@stinkypants10 E.L.O were well before their time, i'd lay odds their 70's stuff would have made big 80's hits. old fashioned not, i'm in agreement with stinkypants (love the name by the way). This one i remember played every hour when radio one was worth listening to!!!!!!!!
