This toy is neat, even though the concept is only used here - and not in any other Snoopy-related merchandise. I have seen a few of the strips where the children respond to whatever Snoopy is thinking. It's odd however, because the comic seems to be adult in nature.
Ah....Another techno-toy from the 80's toysmith's Worlds Of Wonder. My dream as a teen was to be an electronic engineer working on all the latest high-tech toys from them.

Dumbfounded. I'm surprised Schulz approved this, too. All I could do as Snoopy was "talking" was blink rapidly and waver between being bemused and being annoyed.
Oh well, at least the subliminal Theodore at the end is funny as shit.
@RossIrving It's really no worse than Schulz approving of his characters to endorse an amusement park, snack cakes or life insuruance. Besides, though I will always envision Snoopy as the unitelligable communicator he was, I would have killed to have a talking Snoopy as a 5 to 6 year old kid.
worlds of wonder made a few spin of fs from teddy ruxpin due to his popularity , snoopy , mother goose and hector, mickey and goofy ,all share the same animation cassettes technology, playing standard tapes wont work in these toys ,as there sophisticated programmed tapes make the eyes and mouths move in perfect sync with there tapes ,cam clark was the voice of snoopy , phil barons voice was teddy ruxpins,so to have different charecters with the same voice just wouldnt work
I had one of these when I was a kid and I absolutely loved him until the boy next door broke him. Laugh all you want but my mum says that when I woke up on Christmas morning and saw Snoopy sitting there and then talking she said it was the best picture ever! My face just lit up and it still does watching this clip and I am 25 now! Snoopy is the best!
Agreed, though, the character did think aloud in thought bubbles in the strip. Except for the animated versions Musicals, they never explored this in animation.
Personally, I liked the Big Bird and ALF ones better.
lol Schulz approved of this??? Looks like his artwork in the book.
Kinda like the parody rendition of Linus and Lucy they used here.

@MilesBennetDyson4 That was Cam Clarke doing the voice of Snoopy. He also did it in the 1988 special "Snoopy: The Musical".

I thought that sounded like Cam Clark. I couldn't imagine what a real voice for Snoopy would be, but I'm not totally surprised by this one.
back2s0ul 2 years ago
@back2s0ul Cam Clarke did the voice of Snoopy in the peanuts special Snoopy: The Musical
AlmightyToonGod 1 year ago
@back2s0ul Yup, it's Cam Clarke, the voice of Leonardo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.
MattJFisher 1 year ago
@MattJFisher He's also the singing voice of adult Simba in The Lion King 2!

at the very end you can see Theodore from "Alvin and the Chipmunks."

Wow. So this was probably made the same time as the animated "Snoopy the Musical," because Cam Clarke is doing the voice.

Cam Clarke. Should've known.
Besides, Bill Melendez wouldn't be right for a Ruxpin rip-off.

I didn't think Snoopy would ever shut up or was that what the kid was thinking!

im fairly certain that thats Cam Clarke's (leonardo from tmnt in 1987) as voice for snoopy... and even though hes a respectable voice actor...
no... just, NO... its just downright stupid to allow something that strays this far from the original character.

he made a perfect ninja turtle but i dont know about the rest.

niceone1572 4 years ago
Well, it's close to getting Snoopy to "talk" rather than let him stay silent, but I think the voice here doesn't suit him.
SignoreBoy 4 years ago
I thought this was a silly idea, never heard what the voice sounded like til now. Aside from the musicals, Snoopy DOESN'T TALK!
eyeh8cbs 4 years ago
Sure he does. It's undecipherable, but he talks. Mostly "ay ay ay ay ay" (from "You're Not Elected") and other laughs.
palmercomm 3 years ago
I'm surprised Schulz approved this one... it's pretty far removed from what the character was in the strip.
