First of all, It's a nice video you've helped me a lot
I have a question: I want to buy a Mac and I saw your video, I was thinking of the mac mini, but I play bass for 8 years. And my question is whether it is possible for the mac mini simple GarageBand to record things. I have all the supplies
for recording, but it's simple bass lines and stuff like that?
Now if you are doing simple music editing you will be fine with the mac mini. But don't forget, you have to buy a monitor too and the cost always ends up being minimal compared to the iMac.
One question: i dont own a mac and i really want to buy a imac but question is... thats the only thing i need to use the mac? like to be able to use the iMac, do i need to buy the mac pro? or is the iMac is just a plug-in-play?what i mean is that i just need:Apple® - iMac® / Intel® Core™ i5 / 21.5" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive to be able to use it?
@TodaysWordIs No, You'll need to get softwares too. If you want to use it for video editing you will have to get final cut pro which cost like $250. If you want to do photo editing you'll need photoshop. If you want to write an essay, you'll need Microsoft Word and etc....
I am a video editor, should I purchase the MacBook Pro?
I mainly use After Effects and Sony Vegas, I realise you will have to run Boot Camp to get Sony Vegas, but will you respond to me which one would work for a video editor?
Also, I have a PC desktop, but I have heard that Mac's were pretty good for video editing, and I also need a new computer/.
@AsQkcom I COMPLETELY understand your decision, however, I need a portable computer because I am graduating next year, and I really need a portable computer, right now I have a Windows 7 Desktop, this is a very good computer, however, like I said, I need something portable, so, a Macbook Pro I could use for video editing and school work, I will most likely be buying a external hard drive anyways, so memory capacity is least of my worrys.
I am looking at getting an iMac for video editing in Final Cut pro or adobe Primiere CS5. If I do After effects once in a while will it work well for me? I highly doubt I will use AE everyday. If I had to give an estimate to frequency of AE use I would say 5 days out of the month maximum.
@AsQkcom I'm torn between the iMac and the Macbook Pro!!! I have a recording studio (not professional) next to my house and I know the Macbook would be more portable but I have nowhere to put it because my desk has mixers and speakers etc. I would be bringing it in from the studio and in to my room all the time would do you think?
if you want a free hd tv go to this link , make an accout, complete any one offer from the list and get the no. of referrals they tell you and you are done your imac will be on its way!

also i have a mac mini 2009 and editing some videos on imovie, i have a lot of pictures, 3 web browsers, itunes, and a bunch of documents on microsoft office 2011 and it runs fast.
Nice vid. I just bought a Mac pro with a 21' apple screen for $400 yesterday. The hard drive was missing but I just bought a brand new 1 terabyte HDD today and installed it. WHAT A DEAL!
I'm looking for a mac to run final cut express but I want to possibly keep the same computer to and through at least a little bit of college so I need something that can handle final cut studio or can be upgraded to do so. I also don't care if the upgrade must be done by sending in the computer to apple.
I'm thinking macbook pro but I'm scared that when I upgrade to 1080p HD it won't be able to handle it.
What best for me I like the machine I thing it prefect for me but I want to edit movies and a little bit of photo and video but all that will not be all the time maybe 2 times a month just for fun but I really want it for is to go on Internet
I am getting a mac this week. I want to use it for photo editing in Photoshop and Apreture on everyday basis. Is Macbook pro good for that? Also I would like to have portability, so I can transfer photos from my DSLR to my pc as soon as possible and to edit it.
@Zagica the iMac is my recommendation in terms of price and performance. but if you need the portability then the Macbook Pro will be fine. You shouldn't really notice any difference so don't worry.
There are three factors: Need for portability, amount you are willing to spend, and your existing equipment.
If you need portability, then you have to go with one of the laptops. From there, the decision is simple: Get the most expensive one that isn't over your defined budget for the purchase.
If you don't need a portable, have a very good monitor already, and price is an issue, then your choice is the Mini.
@HotScreens How often are you planing to use After Effects and what are you doing with it? just to let you know, Mac Pro does take advantage of an 8 core processor.
The iMac will handle AE & 3D animation just fine, it's not worth spending the extra 2K just the cut down a few seconds of reder time if you're only using it once a week.
@rs1985 Don't have any experience with the Mac mini, but seems like a lot of people are having problems with the audio. I'd wait until another update maybe...
@kallummckeetv The Mac Pro will be "better" but the lowest-end Mac Pro will run you a thousand dollars more than the highest-end iMac. If you are a sponsored professional gamer who can justify a maxed-out Pro rig, or money is just no object because you're filthy rich, then go ahead and spend the $7,000 or more (which doesn't even include the cost of a monitor) on a tricked-out Pro. Otherwise, you'll be fine with an iMac, which won't cost you more than $2,700 even if you max it out.

@AsQkcom thank you that responds to me,
But I already have a Full HD LED 21.5-inch monitor for 150 euros in the Netherlands is not all that overpriced.
I would say looking at another Dutch website, I do not know if they export to other countries.
but thanks for responding, I'm going again to the apple store and neighboring indormatie questions, but I'm pretty sure that I want the mac mini!

@tarzfx why not get the iMac? More power, more speed and less money.
The Macbook Pro will handle both programs well so you're fine which ever you choose but I'd recomend the iMac.

again, the iMac is faster, cheapter & better in almost everything against the macbook pro.
the only thing the iMac can't do is to be portable ...for 7 hours:P
