I just attended my first Quinceanera tonight; my daughter was one of the court members (a total of 24!!). Maybe I should have researched it a little bit, but I didn't have any idea what a Quinceanera was before I walked through that door...wow. I'm still trying to figure out what happened tonight...but I gotta tell ya, it was a little weird if you ask me. Basically this is a girl's 15th Bday, right? So what's with the faux wedding stuff? And why is it soooo over the top?

Yes the girl turned 15 becoming a women just like sweet 16. It's been a tradition for many many years! Some have simple quince's while others have have over the top. Some decide to include a church mass if they are catholic.
