@5505miller If the meteor is hit with an explosive in the way they would hope to hit it, it shouldn't hit the earth in the first place. Especially if you could get it with an off center hit. It should direct the meteor away from the path it was previously taking at the planet. The more distance from the Earth that the impact is made with an explosive, the better. A one degree angle change in the meteor's path misses the Earth completely even if it's just a million miles away.

However, not in our time have we ever seen these events unleashing at this high speed. And yeah i did go to a private christian school when i was young up to middle school and did not fail geology. magnitude of 7.0Mw, There is infact a large list of earthquakes on land within "our time" of messureing a higher magnatude then hati. There have been more then 10 recorded earthquakes in California alone with higher then 7.0 in the past 100 year's of recording them. There is has been no indication of incresse or decresse in this activity that validates your claim.

You know. Why can't they attach a coulpe hundered cables to the meteor. Then when its on its way back to deep space launch a missle attach to each cord. Have the missiles set for the center of the galaxy. That way the meteor goes into black hole and bye bye meteor. Use the same missles on cords thing. Then put a nuclear detonator on the back of meteor. away from the missiles. Tthen when it is going out away from our Earth detonate the nuclear bomb and it will propell it to different galaxy area.

but... I do not believe that a meteorite will come in 2012, 2012 just seems like a myth. The Mayans did not specifically say that it would be the end of the earth, but the end of something old. Actually Neil Tyson deGrassi said (if i recall correctly) that a metorite might come ~2030 or so... would we want to run away from it (which is completely stupid), or propose an idea to get the comet away from the planet?

Such "small" meteor cannot cause that big damage on earth. Neither givin up physical rules .. if you hit something out of its place and theres no block for it.. then it wont come back to you. The materials threw out to space on this video are out of earths gravital zone.. aka no point to come back for an "carpetbombing". What if we discover the meteor only a year or two before impact? There will be no time for gravitational ships.
That is the reason we have to make bigger and better bombs/weapons. Ones that can crack a planet so one day we may have a surviving chance against such extinction events.
Let us hope it will not happen in the next 1000 years. Maybe by then we would be able to figure out how to protect life.
