Cotto has very underrated defence, he was on the downslide by the time he faced pacquiao. He doesnt do the philly shell as well as mayweather but he is a good counter puncher, Mosley prepared for a brawler yet cotto counterpunched him all day. That being said, the beating that he took from margarito really damaged him and there was also a chance that margarito used plaster.
This guy is Floyd fan, it's cool. If you believe Marquez has such great counter punching skills and will give Manny trouble then watch the trilogy fight tomorrow night and make another video about how much Manny has improved. He has alot, especially in the power area, which you failed to mention adequately. Additionally his ability to take punches from bigger stronger opponents which you didn't mention. Manny also couldn't duck Marquez punches. Marquez couldn't hit Mayweather but he got hit with ease. Every brawling fighter like Pacquaio that Mayweather has faced has been knocked out. Interesting video I also noticed SaiBox Pacquaio seemed to look lost when Cotto started moving in the last 3 rounds of the fight also he looked lost against Mosley when Mosley started moving it seems when you present angles and movement to Pacquaio you can blunt his effectivness

It's not the "level of competition". It's just the style of the opponents. There are only few boxers with the same style of Marquez so don't generalize the past opponents of Pacquiao. They have their own style that works for them that just dont work for Pacquiao. Say this, face Marquez with Margarito. So you'll know what "level of competition" you are talking about.

MP hasn't avoided a style like FM. 1st, there really isn't anyone like FM out there, and 2nd, he fought the guys in the divisions he was in particularly early in his career. Fought two wars with JMM, as you know. It's bit like saying why has klitschko "avoided" that style. No one in that style in his division.
i laugh when i watch the clottey fight. here we have this guy who threw every six months and battered pac horribly. And he stood in front of him with a good defense. Not only can you be mobile in the ring and beat pac with counters, but you can clam shell defense, walk him down, and throw lead right hands and uppercuts all night on him. the clottey fight exposed pac for not even being able to take pressure himself if the opponent has a good defense and throws behind it. that fight was a fix.

Look how wide open Pacquiao is when he throws the lead left hand. He drops his right hand completely exposing himself for the left hook. What I would teach an opponent to do is to step around Pacquiao's right foot and throw the left hook just as Pacquaio is throwing the left hand lead. You can catch Pacquio with the left hook and knock him out because he is wide open! And whatever happened to lead right left hook combination on the southpaw fighter by the orthrodox fighter???

Even if pw is a volume puncher but he doesn't have the right science of a punch like floyd, pac, mosley, duran IMO. paul is a wild puncher with unstable feet. while Pac is heavy/great in his feet which has a leverage to punch even harder. @MyAragorn let me step in here and clarify catch-weights. Catch-weighting is NOT an equalizer because one fighter is at the disadvantage simply because they are fighting below their natural weight which effects stamina, strength, blood oxygen levels, power and endurance. A fighter requests catch-weight for one reason only, to gain an advantage. Otherwise, the fighter should face his opponent at his best- regardless of physical differences. Otherwise, don't fight him at all.
i dont have a problem with a catchweight, pac can fight david haye for all i care, just not for his titles. the shit bob arum pulled on cotto with the wbc when he was ready to leave top rank just tells me cotto sold out too. Its no coincidence he gets a career reviving paper title shot at a weight class he never fought in right after agreeing to starve his way into a fight with pacman. the bullshit is so obvious.

Pac is now okay at 147 after cotto and then realize that he can't go up to 154lbs after marg fight. Unless ppl like him to fight s. martinez at 154lbs. btw pac is a price fighter and would like a fair fight. so catchweight is reasonable if ppl want to see a big/mega fight which is unbelievable to happen. Cotto has very underrated defence, he was on the downslide by the time he faced pacquiao. He doesnt do the philly shell as well as mayweather but he is a good counter puncher, Mosley prepared for a brawler yet cotto counterpunched him all day. That being said, the beating that he took from margarito really damaged him and there was also a chance that margarito used plaster.

This guy is Floyd fan, it's cool. If you believe Marquez has such great counter punching skills and will give Manny trouble then watch the trilogy fight tomorrow night and make another video about how much Manny has improved. He has alot, especially in the power area, which you failed to mention adequately. Additionally his ability to take punches from bigger stronger opponents which you didn't mention. Let's ask ourselves, "who are the true strategists & tacticians in the sport at this point in time"? Floyd, Marquez, Hopkins, Klitchkobros, who else? I do have to think twice about putting Manny on the list still, despite how he man-handled everyone after Marquez. Freddy put together great strategies against all of them and Manny delivered. @SaiBoxTV: What has always concerned me about Manny is the fact he does not mind getting hit. He'll willingly eat punches because he is confident he can out punch his opponent. He muscles out the wins. Freddy has done a great job instilling some strategy, tactics, counterpunching, footwork, and defense in Manny. However, I am still not convinced that Manny can stick to a game plan and show patience. He has to show me more than just a KO against Marquez in order to prove he's ready for Floyd.

It's not the "level of competition". It's just the style of the opponents. There are only few boxers with the same style of Marquez so don't generalize the past opponents of Pacquiao. They have their own style that works for them that just dont work for Pacquiao. Say this, face Marquez with Margarito. So you'll know what "level of competition" you are talking about.

settle down. I never said cotto was a bum. cotto is a b level boxer who had a physical disadvantage like most of pac's opponents. why would I say they suck? JMM is my favorite fighter, next to cotto who is exciting to watch. I was pissed when arum paid the sanctioning fees to make cotto drain down to 145 for his title.
By the way, sassy, pac is fighting another drained opponent with no head movement and will take punches right down the middle all night.

i laugh when i watch the clottey fight. here we have this guy who threw every six months and battered pac horribly. And he stood in front of him with a good defense. Not only can you be mobile in the ring and beat pac with counters, but you can clam shell defense, walk him down, and throw lead right hands and uppercuts all night on him. the clottey fight exposed pac for not even being able to take pressure himself if the opponent has a good defense and throws behind it. that fight was a fix.

Look how wide open Pacquiao is when he throws the lead left hand. He drops his right hand completely exposing himself for the left hook. What I would teach an opponent to do is to step around Pacquiao's right foot and throw the left hook just as Pacquaio is throwing the left hand lead. You can catch Pacquio with the left hook and knock him out because he is wide open! And whatever happened to lead right left hook combination on the southpaw fighter by the orthrodox fighter???

Even if pw is a volume puncher but he doesn't have the right science of a punch like floyd, pac, mosley, duran IMO. paul is a wild puncher with unstable feet. while Pac is heavy/great in his feet which has a leverage to punch even harder. If paul taste the power of pac I don't think he will be reckless like everybody pac fought. like roach always says. Only marg is too stuborn to do that but looks what happen.

@matrixlone hatton and paul has a bad fight mannerism. Roach and pacquiao exploited that on pac-hatton. It is a setup punch. They practice it over and over again. For paul, when pw jab with his right and missed he tend to lower his head. That is very bad on the south paw stands. This can be easily exploited on pac team. On s.martinez-p.williams, noticed that martinez didn't even look at paul when he does that monster shot. Like his slipping on side of paul with a punch. It's lucky punch

Catch-weighting is NOT an equalizer because one fighter is at the disadvantage simply because they are fighting below their natural weight which effects stamina, strength, blood oxygen levels, power and endurance. A fighter requests catch-weight for one reason only, to gain an advantage. Otherwise, the fighter should face his opponent at his best- regardless of physical differences. Otherwise, don't fight him at all.

Pac is now okay at 147 after cotto and then realize that he can't go up to 154lbs after marg fight.
