Hmm, that's a great Seymour, but I don't like the plant. I understand it's a Highschool play, but without the puppet it kind of takes out the magic of Audrey II.
I really enjoyed this vid- the alternative take on the plant, while not perfect, really stands out as individual even in such a diverse crowd of videos of the character.
I agree with earlier comments; it could be taken a lot further, especially in trying to make the actor as far from resembling a humanoid as possible.
Wow. i haven't seen a plant done like this before. This is amazing for high school. My school is doing this soon and i am trying to learn this song for my audition. This plant is amazing!!
BTW, I too was very curious at how they handled the 'feeding' part, but going back a few comments here the OP explained how it was done. (Check it out).
Having done the plant in this manner with increased freedom of movement, I would have loved to see them do "Mean Green Mother" THAT would have been interesting to see.
Ok, people, you do have to look at this with an open mind. Everyone is buying into the personification of Audrey II as HAVING to be a Venus Fly-trap type plant. This here shows creativity. However, going this route is very risky and I probably would have taken the costume a few steps further. But the actor shown here is fantastic. He is acting the part well and he has an excellent voice for the character. So Kudos for the different approach.
@jukingeo im guessing the only reason people imagine that Audrey II has to be a fly trap because it's a plant that looks like a man-eater. But i do like the different plant approach as well.
@Gamera35 I love watching this because the acting is done well. Being a high school production, they basically put the talent in and did something different. Granted this version of Audrey II doesn't seem as menacing as the accepted 'fly-trap' style plant, but when the OP described 'their' plant's stages of growth I could see how it would fall into place. Also with this approach the actor's talent is showcased better. Hopefully others can learn from this and try different approaches to A-2
idk a puppets awesome too but with a person you can do so much more! like move around, move the arms easier, move around stage easier, moving our puppet for the production was a pain in the butt, all ths guy has to do it walk xD
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You...used....a.....person.....instead.....of....a....puppet? This is pathetic! I just vomited a little bit in my mouth, I mean the guy's a great singer, but really? This is so awkward!
all of you with this puppet shit, no 2 plays are ever the same, any of my fellow actors here would understand this, this is their interpretation of the play, if they don't want a puppet, then that's their interpretation, and it looks fine to me, it's not the puppet that makes the show, it's the actors, the story telling and the energy
Loved the voice on the guy who plays Audrey 2, but I don't like that there's no puppet for the planet. It just takes away from the experience, I think.
well the plant stage shown here (which is its third state shown in our show) eats the chopped up pieces of dentist (sponges and fake limbs drenched in fruit punch from a bucket) by pulling them in and "eating"....the fourth and final stage of the plant- which consisted of the same actor playing twoey in a mch larger plant pot with two girls dressed as vines flanking both sides- wuld pull the actor being eaten in and theyd fall into the extra space at the bottom of his plant and theyd fall on him
We rented a plant when I did this in high school and it was ridiculous. Only the person that was inside moving it, was allowed to touch it. No one else could because they were afraid we'd ruin out. It was amazing though, it looked just like the one from the movie.
Thats great! Congrats on getting the part! We were fortunate enough to have someone with a powerhouse voice.
Glad you could get some ideas from it!
I will attempt to get the rest of the vids up as they have been requested. We did not do Mean Green Mother, so hopefully our Don't Feed the Plants will be up soon!
Good Job, plant was a great singer he did it very uniquely. I am going to be playing the plants voice in my performance, and hes givin me some good ideas. I would Love to see the supper times, and Mean Green mother if you guys did that. If you didnt then Dont feed the plants would be awesome.
True, my Dad was in Little Shop of Horrors once, and the rented a puppet. But I can't beleave they couldn't do that either in this play, everyone knows Audrey II supposed to look like a Venus Flytrap, not a plant anthro.
acting good, adrey II sounds like i would want it too but... the coustume... for adrey II u couldnt have just made a plant really how much did time did u spend on this? it shows alot not in the acting but in every thing else...
This is different...
