So many times I've had this repaired. I got the recall done! They know about the leaks, but last time they charged me 350. just to fix my leak! My car was 12 weeks and 2000 miles out of warranty. Now it's leaking again! I need to learn how to fix this myself!!!!
@tiffnagel1 It's too complicated for the average mechanic plus you are dealing with air bags - not a do it yourself job I'm sorry to say. Best option is to sell the car - plenty of people want them - God knows why. Sorry I couldn't be mre help.
Oh my.... This was the car hubby and I finally agreed on. I'm glad I came across this. Thanks for the advise, I will go check out that complaints section right now. Also one more Q? Is this just a problem with sunroof models?
@Stefnilove11 They claim to have it fixed but be warned - many many times GM has said this and been caught with its pants down. This vehicle has other numerous problems as well - check the "complaints" section at NHTSA/safercar for more of an idea of what you can expect - check 09 to 11

I have an 05 Buick Rendezvous and I have the exact same problem. Water is coming in by my feet while it is raining. It soaks the floorboards and is disgusting. I live in GA, so imagine the smell after the rain on a hot summer's day! Hopefully, I will be getting rid of it in soon. This has been a problem with GM products for far too long! Will not buy another. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this video. Great help. I have '07 Saturn Outlook w 80k. Car's had a number of problems. Blower stopped working this week. I live in Southern California, so I didn't find much in the way of water stains inside of the cover, but did find corrosion of a fair amount on the bottom of the motor. Blew it out w air and sprayed inside w electronics cleaner. Got it working. Saved $300 that dealer quoted. This is my second American car. Again I'm disappointed. Schnell, back to the German cars.
Exact same problem with my '07 GMC Acadia. I replaced the fan motor last year. Leaks are getting worse, water has started coming from the inside top windshield. I can hear water sloshing around the top, and in the fan housing! I will file a complaint with NHTSA. worried about the airbags malfunctioning. thanks, gm, I have a beautiful $35,000+ bathtub.
@zzzlt Thanks for the tip! - where would you drill the small drain hole exactly? - the vehicle has plenty of drain holes now - the problem is the water isn't going through them.
I have an 08 Enclave and all the same water problems. The latest is the blower stopped working. Headed back to the dealer soon. This is ridiculous!! GM needs to do something. We need a class action lawsuit against them. There has to be something we can do! I've about had it! I didn't spend this kind of money for a piece of ?@"> car and that's what I got! Should have stuck with Honda. Never had a problem in 10 years. Any lawyers on here who can get us in the right direction?
@carquestions I did go on there and file a complaint. I also contacted Buick costumer service and all they can say is maybe you should check the roof for debris before you open the sunroof! Sure let me keep a ladder handy so I can actually see the roof! All they did was set me up a service appt. where I'll hear the same thing again - we know it's a problem but all you can do is keep cleaning out the debris from the drains. Oh and don't park under trees! So ridiculous!
@gigglesalot4271 Unbelievable - this is the kind of treatment that drives good customers into the arms of a competitor - don't forget how they treated you and how well they built this vehicle next time you need to buy another car.
Well, at least this video saved me the replacement cost of blower motor in 07 Acadia, dealer tried to pretend the water issues in the past had nothing to do with the blower motor. Yeah, right.
Hello. I'm from Ottawa, Canada. I have 2008 Acadia SLT loaded. We started to have a problems after 2,5 years owing the car. I can't believe it the GM don't care about their future. My boyf and I so freaking mad. Every time it's rains car is leaking.
Geez, wished I'd found all this earlier! Our 2008 oulook has been in the shop 7 or 8 times for leaking, plus the motor blower going out, and now will go in again for leaks this week plus the second time for power steering issues. I have no confidence in those wet airbags ever working. We are now over 36 months, tho we have an extended warrenty, but am guessing lemon law timeframe has expired on us.
I have a 2008 outlook said the issue is from sunroof I have no sun roof. Blower motor repair going to cost me 200.00 I need help, time to sue. GM no help.
@alvastornado What recall of the airbag sensor? What year are you talking about? I just checked 08 and 09 and there are no air bag sensor recalls. Do you mean seat belt buckle or TSB perhaps?
@alvastornado Figures I'd check 08 and 09 instead of 07 - thanks. I just checked the documents on NHTSA and GM isn't saying anything on why it failed just that after being hit in the rear end at low speed screws it up and the fix is just a reprogram of the sdm. You could still be right since lots of recall "fixes" don't fix the problem the first time around.
I have a 2008 outlook said the issue is from sunroof I have no sun roof. Blower motor repair going to cost me 200.00 I need help time to sue. GM no help.

My 2008 Saturn Outlook is a Lemon with severe electrical issues& has been serviced over 30 times. 7 times in the past 6 months with burning, melting, and a wide randge of electrical issues. GM is not honoring my warranty @ playing games. I am now faced with filing a lawsuit under NC Lemon Law. I found many Outlook and Acadia owners with the same electrical problems as well.
Heather FoxSaturn - GM Outlook & Acadia LEMONS This is the group I started on facebook if you would like to join.
So i took my acadia in, they fixed it again. Just one week after that water started dripping out of my dome lights. Well here we go again, back in the shop. I get it back today...they say they cannot find the leak. Well....37 days in shop, gone through 2 fuse boxes, 5 leaks, and one leak that they cannot find. Oh yeah, and could have died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Speak out people, lets get a class action suit. Someone will die because of this vehicle.
@aphoxxe Keep up the comments - they'll be here for all time for all to see. Please file a complaint with NHTSA - go to carquestions.ca and click on NHTSA then "file a complaint" - NHTSA cannot ignore all these complaints for ever.
We took out Acadia in today and they are going to "fix" the problem. We've already contacted our lawyer and we are going with the Lemon Law route. I want people to know that this vehicle is deadly. GM needs to recall these vehicles. How can you sell this vehicle to families....it could have killed mine last night.
I have had so many issues with my 2009 acadia. Earlier this year i put my car in park and turned the car off, got out and the car was still running! How is this possible??? I went to the dealership, got it "fixed". I have been back 3 times for water leak problems. Tonight i heard noise in the garage, guess what?! CAR IS RUNNING when we have it in park, turned off, and keys in hand. We could HAVE DIED of carbon monoxide poisoning. So now the car is running outside until the battery dies
@aphoxxe Please go to Google and type in "NHTSA recalls" then follow the instructions on how to file a complaint it may lead to a recall for this vehicle. Also this post will remain up for years to come publicizing GM's problems for thousands to see so take some comfort in that.
'08 Acadia started leaking water all over the interior during a heavy rain. Leaked from every opening. Airbag panels, seat belts, sun visors, and the dome lights. Anything on the headliner was leaking. I'm also hearing clicking from the front-end while turning. It's going to the dealership tomorrow.
Update: The Acadia went in early this morning, big surprise water in the fan unit! They want to "wait to address the fan until they fix the water leak." They got the fan working. I guess I have to hope it doesn't rain? I asked about more water leaks, they said they don't know of any? Really? I need a great Crossover type vehicle, any suggestions? Thinking Accura MDX, my Honda had one minor repair on 100, 000 miles!! What was I thinking?
@vaslor - not yet - hopefully, if more people tell their stories - so far it is hit and miss if you are off warranty - covered if your on - and multiple tries to repair it are common.
I have a 2008 SLT II Acadia, been in for first leak on driver's side, going in for 2nd leak on passenger's side. Today, minutes after speaking to a service manager at a GMC dealership, the blower stopped working in the front! Have no air conditioning or defroster. Goes in tomorrow for that and the recall on the heated windshield washer fire hazard. It goes in next week for the 2nd water problem. Do not plan on keeping this car and will not buy another GMC! Ever! This is becoming a full time job!
Would I be correct to assume that it is possible to avoid at least some of the water leak problems by avoiding models that do not come equipped with the sunroof?
not only that. engine problem, timing chain strech and will cause engine damage. Front axle seal leak. oh well i fix them everyday cause i work at GMC dealer LOL. Theyre not worth to own it. Thats why im keeping my honda pilot.
I lease a 2008 Saturn Outlook and I have experienced these water problems. My dealer has done everything for the sunroof and skylight seals and drains. Now I am experiencing the water pooling in the blower motor. We shall see what happens next...

For my Enclave turned out that it was the drains in the sunroof. They had to fly engineers out to california to find the solution. The fix was to plug some additional drains that were causing the leaking (Odd that you would plug some drains to stop leaking in the car.) I have since hired an attorney and made a deal with GM as a result of the Lemon Law to turn the car back in. GM accepted the request with no fuss and I have already arranged to buy a 2010 Enclave.
thanks so much for posting this...I have just posted a video showing the water entering from my sunroof and rear headliner and GM cannot seem to fix it. After seeing this my stomach dropped to think of all the electrical problems I could face even after the water leaks are fixed. :-/
