@KeithBrown51 Not generally, once again there is that static charge that wants to spread the shavings all over, not a big deal though. Masking tape works well that way though. Thanks for watching.
Been with you long time. As I've said before, your vids rock. Ok, so maybe I didn't say it like that, but again, you are becoming one of the most informative sites for outdoor stuff. I have mentioned you have the best shelter videos but they were always survival crawl into vids. Can you show a survival longer shelter vid?..Dash Riprock
Good tip. I notice the rod on your magnesium bar always works the first or second time whenever you start a fire. I've seen people strike their rods 20-30 times before getting a flame.
Great idea. I was wondering if you could just scrape the magnesium right onto the tape and light it there, then fold the tape over just a little to hold the flame on the way to the tinder.
@TomAlegar The Duct Tape being plastic, has a static charge, and wants to distribute the shavings evenly all over its surface. The shavings need to be concentrated to work properly. In the end the easiest way turned out to be how it did it in the video. Thanks, have a great Christmas!!
Great vid. I'm moving away from my ferrite rod and striker back to magnesium and I think duct tape is a great add-on!
