why are people so dense? Its not just Apple products, Foxconn makes parts for just about all electronics now, Xbox, TVs, all brands of computers,' Phones.... etc etc etc.
How many of you give a fuck? As long as you have your Pad and iPhone. When you go to hell, satan will have you working for eternity as a Foxconn battery hen.
This isn't even close. The people who work there (enslaved there) live in the same complex they work in. They are not allowed to talk while working. They work 17 hrs a day often on thier feet and are forced to use sub-standard chemicals that cause neurological damage. If they speak of unions they will go to prison for 7 years or more. And lets not forget the suicides. Holy crap dude get your animation straight.
Apple typically asks suppliers to specify how much every part costs, how many workers are needed and the size of their salaries. Executives want to know every financial detail. Afterward, Apple calculates how much it will pay for a part. Most suppliers are allowed only the slimmest of profits. So suppliers often try to cut corners, replace expensive chemicals with less costly alternatives, or push their employees to work faster and longer, according to people at those companies.
You can either manufacture in comfortable, worker-friendly factories, or you can reinvent the product every year, and make it better and faster and cheaper, which requires factories that seem harsh by American standards. And right now, customers care more about a new iPhone than working conditions in China.
@P4trikk Are you unfamiliar with the 24 h clock? That's not 5 pm at the end, it's 9 pm. That makes a difference. - However this animation really just shows the ideal day in those conditions... there's probably a lot more to it.
@JulixHartley a second difference is the amount of money they get payed for doing harder work (stressful, repetitive though requiring concentration), than Americans would do. Definitely not 85 %! I'd be surprised if 10 % worked in similar conditions.
@P4trikk low wages (under 300usd a month) and 12 hours of work daily... oh yeah and abuse and stress from managers. they have been known to destroy their own hands over the years just to keep up with the workload
@ERKRAKANARB They definitely make a LOT less money but 10 to 12 hour work days and abuse is very common in American factories. Most of the people I’ve watched retire over the last 30 years (which I don’t believe the Chinese do) retire with many forms of damage from repetitive motion and huge vision and hearing impairments. Yes the Chinese factory workers have it worse-
@P4trikk --My biggest point should have been I rarely see this type of concern over American factories. Now some of our factory workers I know do have it very well, but most do not and the economy over the last three years has allowed for the worst.
@moroccanAlphateam You would love to work 35 hours straight, live in a tiny dorm with 7 other people, and make 31 cents an hour doing the same thing over and over and over again?

I would have fun there :) their job is to eat and play with iPads. Their living conditions are not unusual for china. In cities they live in small spaces because there are millions of people in small areas. They are also communist so their food and housing is included with their job. China is very efficient!
It's ironic that the Orwellian 1984 conditions are at the worst - not in 1960's hardline Communist China but in 21st Century fledgling-democracy China. Who would have thought this?
@jasefest True. My bad. But maybe Capitalism can schmooze China into the light. We all wish China would turn, overnight, into a fully democratic country but it aint going to happen. It's going to be slow painful steps, with lots of people suffering on the way. Where's the miracle that's going to alter that fact? A bloody uprising that will maybe kill millions? Or small steps, a gradual bettering of conditions? A Chinese Spring won't happen overnight I think
