@dmt979 They both have French accents, just different. If you watch movies with real french people in them, you'll see a lot of them have a subtler accent such as Chauvelin's here.
you've probably been asked this a thousand times, by is Rachel pregnant. And if so, why is she still in the show when she is THAT pregnant...lol <3 her but still...
This clip always makes me laugh. It's really been an inspiration to me and my friends also. We are trying to put on a play, and it's really shown us what potential it might have. We all wish that we could have seen the whole play.
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! This was the first b-way show I ever saw and it's my FAVORITE and I can never find vids. of it. (I saw Terrance Mann as Chauvelin and the original Marguerite) but still, you got Douglas Sills! So awesome! Thank you!
The most energy i've ever seen/heard in this song! This is charisma! He is so believeable, and his voice is great-not studio perfect like Terrence Mann, but accurate, beautiful , communicative, and complete. He is not a one dimensional character, but a real person, bursting with emotion, His 'Reprise' is the best for the same reasons!
i feel like he rushes through the lyrics. i've been listening to so many variations that were posted here on youtube but terrence manns still puts goosebumps on me when i hear it.
That video ist fantastic XD Chauchau *rofl* I like that scene, when he speak Chauvelins name. Unfortunately tht scene is not in the German show... I like it. XD
Just wanted to say thank you for posting this...its such a shame they did not offer for sale a DVD version of the stage production...I am sure they would have made a good deal of money
I absolutely loved this! Thank you very much for uploading this. I loved the Pirates of Penzance (and I suppose after acting with Kevin Kline it helped him keep a straight face the rest of the time) so when I heard that he also sang this I had to search for it. :)
Gosh, I have no idea. I know I'd find it quite difficult.
I read in an interview with Douglas that he had certain points in the script where he could ad lib a bit. Which would definitely make it all the more impossible to keep a straight face, I think.
Give her a pond to ponder. Back. Back again. Back again....oy.

Chauvelin is middle-aged, and has a kid. (Sir Percy Hits Back) -_- love the musical though. XD never ceases to make me laugh.

....oh my god. I'd heard the audio for the spelling scene before, and read about it, but...wow. Douglas Sills is amazing.
deusabscondidum 2 years ago 2
he doesn't have the creep factor that he should have like mann did. and his voice is too high. and its a little too fast but not by much.
dragonlord1485 2 years ago 2
I didn't know that Mann played Percival at one point. I like him as chauvelin, though I'd love to see him in something else....

Sills makes himself giggle an awful lot. I guess if Chauvelin can't laugh, _someone_ has to. Heh! At least it's in-character.
