Usually hate when people always comment on what guitar people are using when the playing really is the important part but I was just wondering what you call that sort of guitar with a small sort of body compared to the neck and head? Have seen a lot of fingerstyle guys with them
great job bro, im a classical guitarist, yawn, this is so easy to follow and the results open so many new doors, i love it. Im feelin it in me bones!!
it's magnificent, brilliant, awesome, best slow blues ( any key) that I have seen on YT. I might want to zoom up some, only to see the work of perfection closer. Just inspiring.
Thanks a lot for your "FREE" lessons when you don't have many money you're happy to find people like you with talent who share their knowledge for free. How sould I do to get the tabs of your lessons? Have you an advice in the order to take your lessons for a very beguinner? Thanks, I just love what you play. Pierre (from Belgium)
ok.enough is enough. i'm so SICK of everyone bitching "please tab this please please"I simply dont understand this. you are watching the guy play every note?! it's called transcribing.if this is intimidating, start with something more simple. everything you need (audio) is right there! It's just really sad, no one wants to work for anything! spend some time. yeah, it might take you a month to figure out, but your overall skill will improve ten fold - I guarantee it.
I love how people admire your music and ask for instruction yet its considered nagging you? Ouch to the fans yes.... sounds good, but i'll look else ware for tips n tricks
I don't consider people asking me for instruction as nagging. .. why would I post lessons then....frankly I don't exactly know what you wnat to say with this kind of comment...btw many of my lessons have even free tablature
daddy, been listening to you on your website. You play very, very well and many interesting songs.
I"m doing a lot of S. Grossmans stuff at present and I have lots to do there but I think I'd like to mix a song or two of yours in too. They alone would keep my busy for "years"...
Bad ass! The tabs are well worth 7.5 euros though, for all I know, that's $1000. This is a step up from Stefan Grossman's excellent slow blues in E. Other instructional materials out there are too basic for me. This presents the right amount of challenge. I'm learning this fast thanks to the tabs. I love the bends and timing of this piece.
Let me remind all readers that I cover this song in 5 FREE lessons and that I explain all positions. So you can learn this without any tab, but it will cost you much more time rewinding etc. With the tab at hand it will take you much less time and effort, that's all.
Many of my lessons have free tab which you can download at my website, not exactly a ripoff artist's behaviour ;-)
it's an old Supertone from around 1927 - got it from a guy on the weenie campbell country blues forum - these old guitars are not that expensive, mine costed $350
how are you playing those e7 chords? are you hitting only the bottom 3 strings and are you covering 3rd fret on the 2nd? I can't get it to sound right
I cant seem to get my guit-fiddle to sound like yours but this song has really grown on me and Im gona just keep on picken. Thanks for the lesson and anyone have any sujestions on what strings I should be ussing?
thank you soooo much for your videos , i'm a young (23) and newbie guitar player from France, and the only music i appreciate playing and listening to is BLUES old delta blues . I don't need to mention that in my circle, listening to delta blues is like beeing a real geek , it's very unlikely to find people who share that fascination for old blues
thank you
ps: pour ceux qui aiment et jouent cette musique je suis partant pr apprendre et paratager :)
i get that sound by using d'arrdio nickel wound strings at 1.07 mm. gives that steely blues sound. i suggest using the electric guitar strings though for a steelier sound.
It's a Supertone from the 20ies - a so-called 'catalog-guitar' - guitars sold by companies like Sear Roebuck, Montgomery Ward etc were called like that. Supertone was Sears' brand.
I can`t tel you how much I APPRECIATE these lessons mate they are amazing your teaching the blues to a whole new generation . Respect were can I GET YOUR CDs mate I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK .
Mr Stovepipe You my man were borne to play the blues. Brovo to your sharing of that gift and helping us to understand that style. You my man are an incredible player and teacher. I have been enriched today. Captbadhand
Mr Stovepipe you were absolutely right - this is going to take me a long time. Can't seem to get past the bend on the G in the first measure. You just make it look way too easy.
1. replace your G string with a 020 gauge plain string (I used it in my previous recording - see link in vid description) The plain string will bend much easier - lotsa old bluesmen did this.
2. instead of one righthand hit you can do it in two hits : first hit string 3, fret 3 and bend, then hit string 3, fret 2 and do the hammer and the two pulloffs - this way you don't loose sound as much
Supertone was a "catalog" guitar, Sears and Roebuck in this case. This one was ready to play and costed $350 on ebay. It's from the 20ies; in 1940 the name changed into Silvertone.
i just finished my jack daniels to that!! thanks!! great one to learn

yes indeed.
daddystovepipe 1 year ago
Thanx a lot, I was confused when some people told me that using nails on a steel acoustic was more suited to classical guitar.
Also, I have noted that many old blues masters like hopkins use the thumbpick/ fingerpick combination.
