  • The two antagonists of this movie were clearly his father and his brother, and the protagonists were probably Logue and him.

  • FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK! BUGGER BUGGER BUGGITY BUGGITY FUCK! FUCK ASS! WILLY WILLY WILLY!..and tits.

  • does this have an antagonist, would it be his stammer, but that wouldn't make sense, would it??????

  • My grandparents where avid David fans and thought because the King couldn't speak properly meant he was a puppet, They did admire however that he and his family stayed in Britain fo for the duration of the war

  • There are some people who cannot truly understand the concept of this film. Those who say that the main actor does not sound like the King, have to recognise a)the changes in technology -audio etc. b) the actor chooses his own representation. This outstanding film - The consequences on "Bertie" were enormous-

  • We rented the movie and watched it last night. I liked it very much. On a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the best, I'd give it a 9.

  • @RichardEldenwow he didn't look like the King? how very dare he!! Perhaps he should have had major cosmetic surgery. Clearly this man has no dedication to the role. And, he sounded nothing like him? Well, we can only assume you knew the king intimately to make such a point. How fortunate we all are to have such a critic in our midst. You twat.

  • I think the people dissing this movie are sortof missing the point...

  • @RichardElden idiot!!!

  • @RichardEldenwow you have no clue what true talent is.....

  • This music as background to the speech is grossly inappropriate. This is Beethoven -a wonderful German composter. The enemy the King is addressing - Nazi - listens to Beethoven as an example of their superior race. It would be better to play a Scottish hymn as one from "the King's people". Oh, by the way - the movie Director cut the last line of the speech - a prayer line spoken by the King in his speech. But, we are talking the art of film not facts. Excuse me and God saved the King.

  • "I'm not, here to discuss, personal matters."

"Well why are you here then?"

    "BECAUSE I BLOODY-WELL STAMMER!"

    "Do you know any jokes?"

    LOL!

  • I just had the pleasure of seeing this movie last night. As a practicing Speech - Language Therapist, I was deeply moved. Firth and Rush deserve every accolade. Excellent representation of the disorder, the stutterer and therapy during this time period.

  • To be honest, I am now old enough to have experienced this period! I grew up during WWII. As a small boy, with a grandfather who fought in the Machine Gun Corps at Passchendaele & a father in the RAF, I was brought up to be a patriot. I admired the King & Queen, always listened on the radio to him & even felt I knew him personally! This film moved me to tears! Lucky not to have a stammer myself, I was totally involved in Firth's brilliant portrayal of how it must be to suffer such an impediment.

  • Wow Geoffrey Rush had such an amazing voice..His soothing voice reminds me of James Earl Jones's and Morgan Freeman's voice

  • @whatsgoingonthen

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the King's Speech. It is a tribute to a man of great courage. Who at a time when the world was facing a great evil, had to face his greatest fear, in order to ask his people to die in their thousands in order to stop Hitler. He and his family remained in central London with the people. Everyone should be able to admire courage and goodness. I'm sorry you can't because it's your loss.

  • Geoffry Rush should have won best supporting actor for his wonderful performance in the King's Speech. He was marvellous.

  • Well said Bookwormbeddoe!

  • @whatsgoingonthen - I suppose if you put it like that then I agree, it's just strange that you would look up something which you hate. And while I do think that everyone is entitled to their opinion, I don't agree with insulting people. Everything can be worked out nicely if you try hard enough! :D

  • @whatsgoingonthen -Dude, I get that you don't like this film or the guy it's about. So why do you look up all the trailers and interviews and even a real speech by the King? You've picked arguments on every page I've been on. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple arrangement that keeps everyone happy. :)

  • @whatsgoingonthen u sound mad :)

  • @no3ggs4u he mad :(

  • @whatsgoingonthen why you mad? :(

  • @whatsgoingonthen so u ARE mad. :D

  • @whatsgoingonthen why you mad? :(

  • @whatsgoingonthen uMADtho?

  • colin firths got a stammer now lol

  • This is simply an excellent example of proving a misconception wrong. It kills me to see people attribute a person's speech impediment (such as a stammer/stutter in this case) to lack of intelligence. Everyone has imperfections, but those imperfections don't make you any less of a person.

  • Just outstanding film!!! The actors' acting is wonderful... even more))) It's PERFECT!!! I really enjoyed the movie))) Thank you for such a beautiful piece of history and personal feelings!!!

  • there are those hollywood blockbusters with a lot of special effects. I guess at the end of the day I usually prefer movies with a strong story, sympathetic characters and great actors. The story in King's Speech was simple: a ruler has to overcome his speech impediment to inspire his people for impending war. However it was moving, beautifully done and it definitely deserved an Oscar.

  • I've just come out from watching it and I cried! It's amazing! Apparently Wallis Simpson carried on her affairs with other men after she married the ex Edward VIII (she'd obviously wanted to be Queen) and there's a cringe-making photo of her shaking the hand of Hitler and obviously enjoying the experience. I wonder how Britain would have turned out if Edward hadn't abdicated.

  • @Sunflowers159 Agreed... I truly shudder at the thought. By all accounts a thoroughly dull and vacuous little man.

  • Colin Firth is so hot! I love his 'bed hair' in this clip!

  • G-g-g-ggreat film-m-m.

  • I know what it's like to want to say something, but the words don't come out. It's frustrating as hell. The movie really hit home for me. It's my favourite movie of the year.

  • WHAT!!! i didnt recognized him at first then i was like......

"he needs to fix his hair" lol.....

  • I love the trailer all on its own. Firth's stammer was very believable, he's just so talented! I'm excited to see this movie.

  • best movie i've seen in a while

  • everybody I know is handicapped one way or another

  • The people who bash this movie have been brainwashed by Hollywood glitz and an excess of sfx, gratuitous sex, and unnecessary violence. That, or they just don't know how to appreciate a story about the little everyday victories that make life so beautiful.

  • Saw this last night.

Firth is SO ACCURATE to the 'phwrasing' and "voice mannerwisms" that aristocrwats STILL use to this day!!!

  • Was that the greased up deaf guy? hehe!

  • he still got the after affect of stammering :P

  • i really cant share the enthusiasm everyone has with this film. It's stammer... i stammer myself when i speak in front of many people or strangers... but make a film out of it is just exaggerating imo. When i watched it i was like "meh you're just readin a bloody paper u didnt even write urself... and now that iur finished ur smilling at everyone for readin it flawlessly? did you pay any attention to its content whatsoever?"

  • @benZZZgomeZZZ According to the history, the Prime Minister had *already* announced the country was going to war. The king's speech happened days afterward. People were frightened, upset, thinking about WWI.. Also, the king's stammer was WELL known. They used to sit listening to their radios (no tv back then) and grade him on how well he'd managed to talk.

As strange as it is to an American, the British saw the king as speaking for the people. He was their advocate, their reassurance.

  • @Lamashtar If they made a film about the kings arm the yanks would probably buy it , wasn;t he a nazi sympathiser i suppose they glossed over that bit, mind you hindsight is a wonderful thing but then again he did fallout with churchill over it. I blame his father who was too strict even the other brother went off the rails.

  • @jrobertsoneff Yes, they only mention in the film about Wallis receiving flowers from Ribbentrop. No mention of the infamous tour of Germany and the Windsors sieg heiling!

It isn't just a bunch of anglophile monarchist yanks, tho, it's a genuinely good movie.

  • Oscar bait trash no one will remember in a month.

  • @RichardElden Yeah we get it - you want Colin Firth to get cancer. Any need to tell us this 20 times in 20 different ways? Jeez - get a new (and better) joke.

  • Two of the most brilliant actors on the planet...

  • I saw this movie yesterday and all I could say was wow this was worthy of a best picture nomination? Turns out the pile of crap won the award. Oh well I guess it will go down in history like the last 4 best picture winners FORGOTTEN!!!!

  • great please watch My lucozade and me....

  • youtube.com/watch?v=tYeIFR4RPNE

  • The last sentence of the king's speech--"May He bless and keep us all."--was left out of the speech in the movie. I wonder why.

  • @Atelerix1 Because it acknowledges God.

  • I wish they had kept that part in where Elizabeth says, "I intend to be a very good queen to a very great king."

  • hey does anyone know the name/artist of the song at the end?

  • @Phubzproud -- You mean the music played in the background while the King was giving his speech to the people of the UK? That was the Second Movement from Beethoven's Seventh Symphony....... known as "Requiem" .... a very timely piece of music which enhances the speech wonderfully.

  • @RichardElden How dare you, you're an insult to democracy, society and all who live within it. We are not cave men, we do not kill for pleasure, we do not bow down to such disgusting regimes.

  • What a wonderful film ! Really worth-watched

  • A great actor can make you forget in the first few minutes every other character you've seen him or her in. I think all the leads in this manage it, but Colin Firth is superb.

  • @jambutty48 He is the first celebrity I met at Sundance in Park City. He actually winked at my date which was why I turned around in the first place just to see who it was out of curiousity I believe he is happily married and I suppose I should consider it a compliment that he would wink at my date. Anyway came up behind him with his two bodyguards on each side and some idiot came running up and thrust a camera into my hands asking for a picture. Probably thought I was with him. lol. Good actor

  • Wonderfully crafted film, incredible acting from Firth and Rush. But also, Firth has managed to convey King george VI as a truly brave and wonderful man - and I'm sure he was. Only good can come of this film, in particular for those who have to cope with the daily trials of such a speech impediment, for they will now be treated with more compassion and understanding. My heart goes out to those who suffer in this way.

  • @2many2view

Your comment is most amazing. „Your word in God’s ears“. Thank you for your understanding, your are trying to see the part of the iceberg which is below the sea level. Much appreciated…

  • @MartinUnterlaa

Bless you Martin and no problem, my brother is profoundly deaf, so I know what a terrible limitations are imposed on those who cannot communicate as well as others. This film will change minds I'm sure, but it will also show that one can hold the highest office in the land - despite great impediments. I hope that others may see it that way too.The story of KG VI is greater than we realise.

  • @2many2view

I think it’s the „hidden“ impediments, like deafness, which are very difficult for people to understand. If a person is wheelchair bound or blind, people can somehow understand the handicap and assimilate it.

On the other hand, handicaps which are not immediately visible, like deafness or stammering are much more of a riddle and very often people do not know how to react. These impediments usually are very much stigmatized.

  • @MartinUnterlaa You are so correct Martin. We humans are blind ourselves, in this sense. Still a long way to go.

    Take care my friend; Rob..

  • @MartinUnterlaa I used to hang out with this deaf guy. Even people who knew damn well he was deaf would get angry at him and make fun of him for being unable to hear and communicate the same way they did.

  • @MartinUnterlaa the problem with stammering is that people do not know it. You know that a deaf person cannot hear, end of story. For centuries, stammer was a disease, a defect, a weakness, bad attribute, etc. Now we know that it's the defection of some nerves in the brain, but people still don't understand it really.

  • @MartinUnterlaa Very well said!

  • @2many2view Thank you for your gracious and insightful comments re: "The King's Speech". As a long-time stutterer, I appreciate people who "get" it like you do. I, too, hope that this film will make people more aware and sympathetic to what stutterers have to endure every day.

  • @2many2view I think it's not about physical impediments, or not only about these. I think we all stammer when we face life, this movie represents all of us. The scene where George faces his brother and he can't say a word, while his brother makes fun of him , brought me down in tears. We all have to deliver "the speech" sooner of later....

  • @2many2view Absolutely! I recently saw it and I can see why it won so many honors. I was especially touched by Colin Firth's performance because I myself stutter, although not as severely as George VI did. I think Colin Firth really captured the frustration of coping with stuttering.

  • forget everything else and just say it to me

  • Such an amazing film. So well cast

  • I love Geoffrey Rush

  • colin firth looks stunning in the interview

  • @RichardElden ive spotted your name about various posts and your always out to get a reaction, you need to be banned.

  • I want to see this movie so much! Colin Firth is an excellent actor and this looks like a wonderful film.

  • I love that fact , that Pride and Prejudice's stars Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are in this movie

  • @turkmencobra And David Bamber! I reckon Firth got all his old P&P mates in on this movie. :p

  • i am a stammerer & i just love this movie..it would really help to create some awareness about stammering

  • @SyrenniaLestrange thats what i mean, the majority of people agree his performance is better. it happens every year, bale will win

  • @SyrenniaLestrange Bale is the obivous favorite, your opinion means nothing

  • @gustovo134 bale the obvious favourite? don't make me laugh!..he's an over rated prima donna , if colin firth doesn't win the oscar there's something wrong with the acting industry!

  • @kiely456 colin firth will win for best actor in a leading role. Christian Bale will also win an academy award this year in the category of best performance by an actor in a supporting role. trust me these awards were already decided (figuratively) and just like all four acting awards last year it would be an upset if the academy didnt decide on bale and firth both to win.

  • oscars all around!!!

  • @RichardElden That really is a disgusting thing to say about any human..

  • @RichardElden

    u mad

  • @RichardElden "Gold, Shout at the Devil and The Wild Geese all massively funded apartheid" eh? Well since none of them were very successful I don't see how they 'massively funded" it and they weren't his productions anyway..I agree Moore's not the greatest of actors I find the charge of racist unsubstantiated, and as for 'Tory', that's just a political party in a pluralistic democracy. Using 'Tory' as a derogatory insult is no smarter than using 'communist' in the same way, i.e.simplistic.

  • @RichardElden Why do you say Roger Moore is 'a racist? Because he made a film in SA during apartheid? I doubt the movie was funded by the government anyway so he would have been working as a jobbing actor for an independent production company, you might as well call them all racists too. Seems a pretty glib judgement to make. Easy enough to throw these accusations around but I would be much more circumspect about that sort of charge. Anyway, his third world charity work suggests otherwise.

  • Rush was absolutely brilliant in this movie. So believable!

  • @TheShirlock I agree, he should have won that Oscar.

  • i have a stammer and i think colin firth was amazing!

  • If you think about it, the King's Speech is like one of the old musical films of the 30's where the stand-in has to take over for the lead player after something happens to the lead that prevents him continuing on. Except here the "lead" is a king who can't remain king because he wants to marry the woman he loves--which is ridiculous on two counts: kingship is an archaic idea and restrictions on marriage like that in the film are laughably stupid.

  • PS: The infamous JuanMacready wishes UNICEF ambassador Roger Moore cancer too. I think mentally sick people should be banned from you tube.

  • a great movie, no doubt. superb performances by excellent actors! Note G. Rush's voice...

  • Here comes the Oscarrrrrrrrr........

  • I will be listened to. BECAUSE I HAVE A VOICE! ahem...

  • This film is a dream come true of British and Australian talent. Just a stunning cast. :)

  • @SyrenniaLestrange Yup. I hope the stupid left-wing prick gets cancer.

  • @JuanMacready technically, we all have cancer in our DNA. XD

  • they really should stop people commenting on youtube. if you have nothing nice to say dont say it.

  • Fucking awful film, he looks and sounds NOTHING like King George VI at all.

  • @JuanMacready he wasnt doing an impression dickhead. colin firth at his best in this film. truely amazing

  • @JuanMacready Hear this, TROLL - George VI was a hairy man: Firth too is hairy. Hence, they look alike! Case closed. Jury dismissed.

  • "because i a voice"... such a powerful line and memorable as well

  • @JT11738 I have a voice*

  • I've just finished watching this movie, and damn! If Colin Firth doesn't get that Oscar, I'll be very much disappointed.

  • @soul0eater The stupid libtard faggot deserves a Razzie.

  • THIS guy is an amazing actor!!!!

    God Bless Him!

  • THE MOVIE IS GOOD, THE ACTING, LIGHTING, SCENERY, ALL SPOT ON.

    A WINNER.

  • Yes, Colin Firth has no talent. He is horrible. Hmmm, that must be why he won a Golden Globe for this performance and is a top runner for the Best Actor Academy Award. Really, you can have an opinion on him but you can't say that he has no talent because obviously he does. And if you listen to the actual King's speech Firth sounds spot on.

  • @3M1LY6U3LL Colin Firth is a talentless, stupid, average-looking left-wing prick who is BADLY miscast as George VI. He sounds NOTHING like the King at all.

  • I must say, this film was surprisingly good and really surpassed my expectations.

Helena, Geoffrey and Colin were excellent.

  • Christ, there are some serious looney tunes on this site! Armchair fuckwits without one iota of talent who wouldn't know a good movie if it ran up and kicked them in the arse! The Kings Speech, great movie, go see! End of!!

  • @JuanMacready How can you wish something so horrible on ANYONE??? And for what, a negative opinion on his ACTING??? And you don't like the movie...get over it, 'cause its nominated for 12 Academy Awards.

  • Something about this movie's YouTube vids attracts assholes

  • This movie was so gooooooooooooooood.

  • @JuanMacready how the hell would you like it if someone hoped cancer on you! how would you like to know what it is like to have or know someone close who has cancer! ONE DEATH = MORE THEN ONE VERY SAD PERSON! im sure if some hartless cold person like you were to say that about someone els would more likely murder if someone said that about you! SO I AM SO ANGRY PEOPLE LIKE YOU HOPE ON OTHER PEOPLE TO SUFFER!!!!!!

  • @JuanMacready How dare you wish such a horror on someone - you are obviously a person lucky enough never to have been affected by cancer. Honestly, words fail me... Just leave the video alone if you don't like it, and please stop wishing such horrible things on people.

  • This film is wonderfully good - in literally EVERY aspect. Films as good as this are so rare these days. Amusing, heartbreaking, dramatic, & SO true to what the times & the people actually were. This was when Britain at its greatest. I'm young myself, & it hurts to see others of my age being racist/violent. They've no IDEA how appaling life under Hitler would've been. The people, perfectly portrayed in this film inspired others to save the WORLD. The film reflects that. Excellent.

  • @RoonJazz i havent seen this film yet but really need to. I am young myself and am also frustrated with the way people behave nowadays.

  • @poker7499 I think you've just proved my point again, all by yourself. But bless you for joining in.

  • @RoonJazz It was also hard to understand what they were saying with their brittish accents

  • @poker7499 You need to use your head more mate, if not for thinking for banging in nails.

  • @RoonJazz It would have been far better if Hitler had overrun Britain in 1940.

  • @RoonJazz Very well said. I commend your astuteness.

  • I saw this film today. Wonderfully good - in literally EVERY aspect. Excellent.

  • How about my movie about LOU LOU the Stuttering Boxer I! It was the price of The King's Speech lunch budget... SAVE IT ON NETFLIX under it's title RevoLOUtion so we can get a better license fee!!! It's already on there but not avail... we released it experimentally (free)in NY/LA, now i'm tweaking it, hopefull shooting two more scenes in spring summer 2011 - I look forward to your comments - and if you like you can comment on the additional scenes we are shooting at facebook under LOU LOU

  • probably because it is set at a time where britons were very arrogant towards aussies

  • Yes thank you labour governments for trashing Australia's history at every chance.

  • i'm just pissed Rush is Australian, he should've been knighted along time ago.

  • @elvaelvirababe Australian knighthoods are dished out by the Australian government. They are not in the gift of HM The Queen. If you think Rush should be knighted write the Governor General of Australia and make you views heard.

  • @mc0558 Australia doesn't have knighthoods...and as HM the Queen, is also Queen of Australia writing to her representative in Australia (the Governor-General) would be the same as writing to her.

  • @prograstinator I think you are wrong about that or Australia has changed the law. It did have knighthoods--I know because I was invoved in getting one for a distinguished Australian inventor many decades ago. But yes, the fiction is that the Governor-General is The Queen's representative in Australia; however writing the GG is not the same as writing The Queen.

  • @mc0558 In Australia, so called "knighthoods" exist only as part of the Australia Day Honours agreed to the Queen. They are not the same. In order to "knight" Geoffrey Rush, one would write to Her Majesty through her representative. Receiving an AK isn't quite the same thing....or else our former PM would be wetting himself.

  • @prograstinator If you write The Queen about an Australian knighthood, you will get a letter from the honours department at Buckingham Palace, advising you to contact the Governor General of Australia's office. In other words, this is not a question that The Queen's own office in the UK deals with. Try it!

  • @prograstinator Wrong..there are no knighthoods in Australia, but aussies are still eligible. There are only 2 types of knighthoods..Sir and Dame. Australian honours..as most British honours are,are not knighthoods but titles below a knighthood such as an OBE. Both Bradman and Joan Sutherland were knighted.

  • Brilliant movie.

  • Fantastic movie

  • Geoffrey Rush is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This looks like a fantastic movie! I can't wait to see it. Haha it looks a bit over-the-top near the end though, oh no not a speech! I would just be glad I didn't have to fight in World War 2!

  • Brillent casting all the way around.

  • @JuanMacready Wow, thats extremely harsh. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, especially over one film of many to be made in this year alone. Leave him be if you don't like him. I'm sure you wouldn't want people wishing you cancer either. Damn.

  • @Mustang318 Excellent Mustang!!

  • @Mustang318 juanmacready is a pathological liar and supreme shit on the subject of the British monarchy. Being fundamentally irration and motivated by hatred, macready is not to be handled like a normal person.

  • @Mustang318 This JuanMacready appears on various boards dealing with the British monarchy under different names. He is completely irrelevant, and anyone who argues with him soon finds that it is a waste of time, which is no doubt why he changes his hame. He is doing this because he needs the response people give.He feeds off that attention.

  • @JuanMacready I wih you the same,mongloid!

  • @JuanMacready You're just an idiot if you think so. Thats all there is to it.
