I agree on the bored and eat or stress eater. I have changed and I always try to find something else to do instead of eat. Distractions are good indeed :)
great advice.. I think that's what my problem is when I try and try and try to lose weight. I focus TOO much. I criticize every little thing I do and then just get overwhelmed and stop. Hmmm...
Great advice..and much more interesting than BMI LOL Distraction works great for me..boredom is not good for my plan AT ALL.. cleaning, reading, watching YT vids, working on webstuff..singing and doing listens on Singsnap..or hanging out reading, commenting, or writing stuff on Gather are the main things I do..or go for a walk/exercise.. distraction is good!! :O))
Great Why Discussion... Eating from Boredom is still my distraction...this was a better topic than BMI LOL Can't wait to find out tomorrow :) Good Job Shanti.
Well my topic was going to be why the BMI is not the end-all, be-all of body goals - but why it CAN be an interesting tool to get you thinking about your body type, your weight goals, and your physical makeup. Nonetheless, I didn't feel like it. Glad you liked the video :P
See this was a much better topic and a very interesting perspective. I have been so all about focus over the least 2 months and how important it is (or at least was for me) and I love to see this perspective you have.
Much more compelling for big dumb boys like me! :P
Haha :P I know you are all about focus... however, I am interested to see how focused you will be in a year from now.
In the first several months of this, I was intense like a laser beam... but 15 months in, now, I find that over-concentration on weight-loss just drives me insane and repels me from wanting to participate (and lose) at all... no good!
you hit right here on exactly why I found it interesting. In fact, I have realized my "keeping busy" to keep me healthy really is a distraction from food.
If I am not focused on food...I use it for just fuel and make the right choices. So I have to be distracted to really stay on track eating. wow, interesting, huh?
reading, cleaning, organizing, drinking tea, drawing. :) its hard still to not fall prey to boredom eating but i just try to remember how nice it feels to eat when im truly hungry, and how much more i appreciate the food, then when i'm just bored. if anything, boredom eating can be an indicator that maybe ur in need of a new hobby or another layer in ur life. just a thought.
Great video! I think this was a great choice, over BMI (not that BMI isn't important but I already know about it, lol) I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about it quite like this before!
I'm not sure if I should give my actual response to that of "why must sex be thrown into that mix" or if I should give my goofball answer of "hey, want to distract each other? :D"
You make a good point, but I think you missed mine.
Escapism is one thing - avoiding your problems by constant distractions. However, distracting yourself as a life-hack - a method for recognizing your habits (mindless ingrained behavior) and changing them - is a great way to go. Better than just sitting there, wanting to eat, and anxiously battling temptation.
i agree with you 100 Percent, I need to be distracted, with that time goes by so fast, , so yea, disttraction is good. and i don't worry, too much about junk food. hahaha cuz i dont have time for any extra junk,

So glad you didn't do BMI. I think it is a
Big
Misleading
Integer (ok, I know it's not an integer, but I couldn't come up with anything better on short notice :P)
this was a much more interesting perspective.

Excellent point! I never actually thought about it, but I do tend to distract myself if I think I'm hungary (when I'm really not!)
Ash1eyEve 2 years ago
Distraction is not always the best answer. You must be aware on what the core of your being is, concerning your eating probs.
So binges don't come of physical needs, they are mental needs (unless you are realy starving and haven't eaten for days).
