  • @kmillard Amtrak equipment and Amtrak crews. So whats your point?

  • I love the Rio Grande livery !!

  • this video never gets old

  • So it's called the snow train because you see snow during the trip? Not because it is specifically designed to travel through snow?

I am also confounded by the concept of switching by hand. How is that done?

  • Its an annual tour train that runs from Emeryville, Ca to Reno, NV. Typically is full of drunken old folks on there way to or from Reno to gamble.

Switching my hand - The cross overs at Colfax, CA are not powered and need to be aligned manually (by hand).

  • there is no snow:(

  • As is normal at this altitude.

  • thanks

  • @cnw6500 it snows in colfax in the winter

  • @breadboyplaysguitar 53,000+ views and one asshole has to tell the original poster he is wrong. Yes its snows at Colfax on a rare occassion. Is it normal to snow at Colfax depends on your perception of normal, to me its not a normal occurrence and at the time the video was taken it was sunny and in the 50's.

  • why he was so slow?

  • Its crossing over to track 2 and the cross overs are all hand throw.

  • Its an ex GN full length dome car.

  • Don't see those cars on that track often

  • Gotta love F40PH,and Geneisis sounds, they can't compare to one another, exp. the horns!

  • what was the engineer doing>

  • Thats the conductor getting off the unit. I belive he flagged the crossing, but I really don'y remember exactly what he did.

  • Colfax, CA. This is an annual train that runs betwwen Oakland and Reno during the winter months.
