when im not running #1 in my 92 6.5 it gets around 19-20 its a 3/4 with 260k not too bad for the old girl

Has anyone had problems with there crank shaft int here 6.5? i was thinking about getting one because they are cheaper diesels, but my grandpa blew 3 of them...

Damn learn to drive haha jk. Nice truck. People say that the 6.5 turbodiesel is the least torqey diesel, which I disagree, but it's definitely the most powerful, and has the best mpg. Keep up the good work

well man thats a nice truck and thats the way any diesel should start in cold winter mornings. and yes they will take a pounding in the cold. i drive a 2000 gmc 3500HD with duel wheels and its a tow truck with the same 6.5 turbo. i have seen me not having it plugged in at -30 celcius or colder windchill and it takes no longer than that to start up and i take off right away driving it easy up the road till it comes off the cold mark. it dont hurt them

i have the same truck cept mine is a 454/TH400/4.10, Silverado, 3500 with single rear wheels [3/4 ton with second set of leafs], an 88 x-cab with a '94 "conversion" inside n out. every 88-94 truck/suv option except keyless locks, 454 SS foglights, leather seats [all very rare] and like I said dual rear wheels. I Love yer truck...

@Motorfordtoyota 6.5's were made mainly for fuel economy and not really to be a powerhouse. But 25mpg is kinda pushing it.

@mad4diesel have you done any mods to your Chevy Diesel to get such good fuel economy??? Do you do highway driving to achieve those figures???

@rottysaurus I only use my 6.5L mainly on the hiway,actually it gets about 19 in the city, and yes I've done a couple of mods but the biggest difference is changing all of the oils to full synthetics, diff's, transfer case, had the tranny flushed with full synthetic also ( all 14L of it ). Also I don't drive it hard, keep the revs at about 18-1900rpm on the hiway.

@Seydler3 best I have even seen in a 6.5TD is 18.5 MPG..... thats in a 1500 4WD

Im too skeered to check my C3500 2WD Crew Cab Dually, its probably around 13 or 15 at best.

If that was my truck I wouldn't be revving it like that right after a cold start, but that's just me.

@pznerd yea me either and thats why they blow up mistreatment and improper maintenance then they just blame it on poor quality by GM when really they are the dumb fucks that caused it
