There is a difference between epilepsy and mental illness.
There is no drug treatment for autism itself. If the autistic person has seizures they may be stopped by anti-seizure medicine but it is a separate issue and would be addressed by a neurologist not a psychiatrist.

One does not just "stop" psych meds...kids are weaned off them or the med is changed. Seizures must be 'closely monitored by physicians'...with the help of the parent. If properly managed-meds work. Kids have seizures every day-but they are hopefully being 'controlled' (to a lesser seizure type) by the proper med.

I have been diagnosed with epilepsy for about 15 years now and have been told it's unlikely to go away. Couple of years ago I considered joining staff, the Personnel Officer said my medication was fine (however I'd voiced uneasiness about going off medication) after hearing Tory Christman's account with this so-called church I'm convinced they'll say anything to get you on board so as to later gain control of you.

I don't like scientology but I'm not sure its right to assume they are against anti-seizure medicines. I remember hearing that he was on anti-seizure medicine but it stopped working.
There is a difference between epilepsy and mental illness.
There is no drug treatment for autism itself. If the autistic person has seizures they may be stopped by anti-seizure medicine but it is a separate issue and would be addressed by a neurologist not a psychiatrist.

"Seizures" is to this day a part of the reporting on Jett's death. This video showed no "hate," but rather served a public service at a time when it was needed to inform people of just what is a seizure and just how does medicine handle them.

Hey The Travolta's asked to be public figures...so the public needs some answers in regard to the DEATH of their child. Anna Nicole truly sincerely grieved and went on the air several time when her son Danial Died. She didn't want them to even bury him after the coroners told her that he had been autopsy three times and his body is deteriorating and needs to be put into the ground, it took three weeks. Jetts was less then a week, they mine as well of just thrown him in the trash.

People lets get something straight. His death was a result of his condition, there is no way to be positive it wouldnt have happened with or without drugs.
That being said if there is truly a block on important life saving drugs then this will surely bring that to light an hopefully change it even.

One does not just "stop" psych meds...kids are weaned off them or the med is changed. Seizures must be 'closely monitored by physicians'...with the help of the parent. If properly managed-meds work. Kids have seizures every day-but they are hopefully being 'controlled' (to a lesser seizure type) by the proper med.

When kids on psych drugs commit suicide (which is more common than just 'dying') It IS the parents'fault (to some degree-depending on the mental diagnosis) that they don't monitor kids closely. Ie: behavior, mood swings,temper,depressive behavior. Psychiatrists cannot be there 24/7. I was very upset when Heath Ledger died-too many doctors or too many meds from one doc? Anna Nichole smith's son, another one. Not an hungry wolf here, a very upset mom who has a kid.

The driver that hit my car was picking up her drunk husband that was 'drying out' in the hospital. I have some Trans-Siberian CDs. They are really good. Alcohol-the liquid drug-my son's friend just died while driving drunk weeks ago. My son took it hard. There are so many issues that could be discussed...but no quick fix. We just see a lot of death. A family member-active in his Church-great to help anyone in need...accidental overdose of prescribed meds. I am not over that loss yet.

Something big has to happen over this. Honestly. This has me extremely upset. My aunt is head of nursing at a big, popular hospital near Ocala. She was there when Kelly delivered the kids. Ella's nanny is the L & D nurse from my aunt's hospital. My aunt said "negligence-total negligence"..he needed meds.

There were no head injuries-just a seizure. My daughter(school psychologist) said her autistic kids go by ambulance once a week. Hey memama-I said they only had him on Depakote and there are 11 different meds that can be tried and used. They stopped the Depakote because he was seizing 4 times a week. They should have tried another med. I have said also if an aspirin doesn't help your migraine-do you go to bed for days or try another med?

Uh, no one has mentioned that Jett died in the Bahamas, NOT in US jurisdiction. The Bahamian police are in charge; their laws required his autopsy. They will investigate the legal cause and manner of his death. Such as: Cause = blow to back of head. Manner = Accident. Ok Do you guys realise that Travolta had Jett on anti-seizure drugs until they stopped working?
Infact the side effects made Jett even worst but you guys probably do not believe that.

One drug. He was on Depakote. When a drug does not control the seizure, another one is tried. (If you go to a doctor) The drugs have different chemical mixtures and strengths. Like antibiotics-if one does not kill the "infection"-a doctor will prescribe another classification of antibiotics.

Glorianna54. Nice to meet you. I am just defending my medical knowledge and following the Lord's guidance. This is affecting me because of a child's death to parent's ignorance. I have known incidences like this to happen way too many times. Sometimes we can look beyond a person's ignorance for reasoning...but for a cult's beliefs? Glorianna54, I am breathing-I almost lost a child to cancer-this has just hit me really hard. I thank God for 'medication' and my son's life spared. God Bless You.

robs, you have no need to defend yourself in ANY way. Not only is your information correct, but you show genuine compassion for Jett and so many others. NO ONE can understand what it feels like to lose, or almost lose, a child as you and the Travolta's have. I weep for the children who died at Jonestown and Waco. Their blood is on their parents' hands. The courts have already spoken many times about parental rights based upon freedom of religion. The parents always win.

It is not ignorance. Seizures are controlled by medications not approved by scientology. He was not given drugs because of his parents beliefs. If jett was poisoned and his parents refused the antidote. It is a crime. Scientology kills the mentally ill children of washed up actors.

cymbeli, I too was fooled into working for Scientology. As a freelance writer I was hired to write articles on alcohol/drug addiction for Stonehawk Narconon - a "rehab" center. I had no idea it was a Scientology front. After I found out, I terminated the contract; they refused to pay me for work done until I threatened legal action. I was paid immediately. Lesson learned: Do your homework before working for someone!

With holding a necessary medication that may result in death is negligence. (to say the least) Doesn't take much thinking if you read the first line of my comment and can understand it. I'm not a fan of Scientology. My faith in Christianity asks me to believe some pretty weird things, too. Christian Scientists and other recognized religions in the US decline medical treatment, as do many Native Americans. Will Anonymous go after them next? This is NOT the right time for this discussion; it's crass and offensive. My prayers go out to Jett and to the Travoltas in this terrible time of grief, in the name of Jesus Christ.

When IS the right time then madam? After a bevvy of lawyers and hand picked doctors (by Travolta under guidance from $cientology overseers)clear the body for burning with a pro forma excuse of an autopsy which fails to answer key questions?
When is the time? Don't play into the hands of people who would use a commonality of human grief to play fast and loose with facts if there's some out there that might hurt them.
There is no GOOD TIME to discuss the perhaps unnecessary death of a child.

CK, I think the "right time" is when all the hoopla dies down and all the facts about Jett's life and death are known. Christian Scientists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and many Native Americans reject medical intervention; should we go after them next? I do NOT regard Scientology as anything but money grubbing nonsense, but I get frightened when any system of beliefs is marked for destruction. Is Christianity next? The Romans sure thought so when the early Christian martyrs were killed.

The further a group is from a historical narrative that justifies belief as a part of culture, the less your argument holds any weight. $cientology devolved out of cold war paranoia by a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic who was dodging being institutionalized as a sociopath. These are factual statements and are not subject to interpretation or debate. $cientology's "cultural sensitivity" justification is based on 1950's America's fear of the atom bomb, McArthy, and UFO's. CK, I believe you're correct. The world's major religions can be dated back for thousands of years. Scientology is an "invented religion" that has no basis in fact; it is pure fiction from a psychotic madman. No matter how ridiculous the premise, some people will believe ANYTHING! I just get nervous when we talk about censorship of speech or so-called religion. I'm assuming that you're an American, but regardless, I think you understand my fear.
