  • There's an error in the video info: 'Single Released 28/11/41'. Should be '28/11/80'

  • magnificant!

  • Great to see this version loaded and in synch. The playing of McGeogh here is sublime.

  • Love this song, it's one of my favourites!

  • best front girl!!! YES!!!

  • Pwooooooooarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Was it just me? As a teen-ager,the sight of Siouxsie in that get-up and boots.....Had a marked affect on me for many years after!

  • best band ever!! mr severin does look like one of the beegees though! my infactuation with suz is fairly unhealthy!! who isn't infactuated with the sioux though? i was only a young child at the time with sweaty dairylea triangles in some sort of pop culture branded thermos lunchbox ensemble... one of the most under rated bands ever. pisses on most at the time and definitely present..

  • It drives me mad when people like you overdub the original live soundtrack with the recorded version !

  • @roddy76to86

Roddy, this is actually the music video, THOUGH the music video is actually compiled from a live performance or a rehearsal, or so I've read.

  • @Stig1138

I obviously didn't make myself clear. I can't stand it when a performance played live then has the original soundtrack overdubbed with the bloody single !

  • @Stig1138

But after looking at it again they're bloody miming anyway. I give up...

  • @roddy76to86

Well, I mean, it's the studio single dubbed over a live performance, or so I think. It appears more likely that it's just a straight-up mimed music vid.

  • @roddy76to86

The promo video for "Israel" was filmed during the first half of November 1980 at the Brixton Academy, London, whilst rehearsing for the forthcoming tour. The band are actually just miming to the song. It's filmed to look as though it's live on stage, even though Siouxsie doesn't have a microphone.

I love the song and video!

  • @VlogKing

Yep, great song. It's a shame it's mimed though, because John McGeoch always sounded far better live. There is that great BBC clip though when he is actually playing "Israel" brilliantly live, but wearing a very silly hat !

  • How many f***ing times does it need to be said Siouxsie was not a Goth???

  • My liking for this particular song is entirely due to the awesome beat, and is definitely NOT political.

  • Best song ever!! יִשְרָאֵל‎

  • Always thought this song was cool cuz of the sound of the music. The lyrics never seem to go out of style taking into consideration on the never ending situations of Israel. "Little orphans in the snow.... waiting for a sign to turn blood into wine" Love the banshees - soo unique!!

  • awesome drummer!!!

  • 4 Palestinians A.K.A. FAKEstinian people don't like this song.

  • Look how cool the Banshees look here ! Cool as fuck ! Best Banshees line-up ever IMHO !!

  • Comparing that attention seeking "oh im so outrageous" post op ladyboy drag queen to the talented goddess that is Siouxsie is like comparing a half empty skip to a ferrari.

  • Lady Gaga jajajajaja!!!"" ese nombre ni deberia cruzarse por aqui que falta de respeto ........

  • 3 words: thigh-high boots!

  • How can you even say that fricken name below....Oh can't even type it....Siouxsie is by far the greatest female artist....She's in my blood forever...Siouxsie is my queen.

  • Love this!!

  • This could've ended at 3 mins. and sounded excellent. Anyway it's perfect as was the group's lineup.

  • Serious stuff!!

  • I am glad no one is comparing her to Lady Gaga loooooooooool

  • @novocain68 Lady Gaga? No way... There is not point of comparison.

    Siouxsie is better by far;

  • @caloy5000 Fully agree ofc :)

  • @novocain68 hum

  • @novocain68 screwyou!

  • @zyanurito LOL are you ok m8? What did i do?

  • @novocain68 How could somebody compare Siouxsie with "Lady gaga"? That's stuuuupid in so many ways. No one does it, so shut up, please. Thanks!

  • @zyanurito Dude....LOL. It was meant as a joke, I was going to Siouxie Gigs probably when you were still liquid! The 68 in my nick is the year of birth, you do the maths, I'll do the Goths ROFL

  • @zyanurito BTW...you better read the comment i wrote properly...

  • turn blood into wine...

  • She is beautiful

  • Effortless cool.

  • "Single released 28/11/41", back when ice cream was just a penny....

  • @misterman71

Sorry for the late reply. I know Nocturne well enough to come to the conclusion that Robert Smith is mediocre compared to John McGeoch. Maybe I exaggerated by saying he couldn't play it, but the way he played McGeoch's Banshee's songs was rather lacking compared to later guitarists. It sounds to me like you're blinded by the fact that the lead singer from The Cure played guitar for Siouxsie and the Banshees. Nocturne would have been 10x better if McGeoch had still been playing.

  • This song has always struck a chord with me. It's lyrically powerful with Siouxsie's brilliant voice to bring the words such meaning.

  • @misterman71 Robert Smith couldn't even play most of the stuff McGeoch was playing.

  • @XellKamikaze

I agre that McGeoch is the true genius out of the both of them.

Rob Smith does deserves thanks for taking over when he did though.

  • @XellKamikaze

I meant agree not agre. Damn fast typing reflexes!

  • Omg I`m loving it

  • this song is pure awesomeness!

  • whitch year is it?

  • bassiine is bad ass the whole song is badass siouxie rocks

  • JOHN MCGEOCH!!!!!!

  • As bad as it sounds, this is true, at least she rectified, the song is admirable.

  • My comments go to

NineInchNailed people gave him thumbs down but he's absolutely right, check her bio in Wikipedia.

I love this song and Siouxsie however.

  • John McGeoch r.i.p. awesome

    in 1981 Israel was released.-
