NAw i surfed Del ray a tun of times at this size. It is rare thogh. But all florida is i guess. I was there on this day when these kooks were doin tow ins.Thats lafeabel but this is florida.

The only time the waves get that big down here, is when a hurricane is hovering off the coast.  Even the Gulf of Mexico sports some huge waves when that happens.
