Well, you can say whatever you want, but facts are facts and the Marines commited genocide against Nicaraguan civilians and virtually destroy the country, pretty much like they did in Abu Ghreib. Actually, Nicaragua was the first country in the Americas to be air-raided by the US Military. In fact, about 70 towns were attacked. There are even pictures of Marines cutting people's heads and holding them as trophies. So, you should read history books that are not biased!

This documentary is propaganda. This Marine may have been in Nicaragua but he is exaggerating. By his tone and words he is a leftist at the least. The Marines did much to develop Nicaragua. They stopped a bloody civil war and bult roads and hospitals. In the as we see now in Iraq this kind of intervention only breeds resentment.

I do not create to him. This gentleman does not have age for it. This video was hung in 2009 and it says to be 77 years old and that it got ready in the USMC to the 20 years of age. Sandino died in 1934, in 2004 turned 70 years of its death. The witness says to have trained the national guard, and this institution was based on 1927 in agreement with a clause of the pact of the black hawthorn. This man would have to be like minimum 97 years old to have participated in which says.

there are plenty of holes in his testimony. Somoza was at the end of the occupation and he was a liberal not a conservative. Nonetheless, Nicaragua, arguably, was the USA's first Vietnam and there were many atrocities commited by both sides. It was a war against the poor. Like Bruce Cockburn wrote, "to see an assault such as this on people whose lives are already so hard, so precarious, is heartbreaking. We do it to keep their labor cheap and to keep their products flowing our way".

Extraordinary documentary! We knew about all the attrocitties committed by marines against Nicaraguans during the occupation. However, this is the firts time that a living marine actually admits to them.  So this is excellent legal, historical proof that break more than 80 years of US govt silence and denial. @Sturmmann The occupation of Nicaragua by the Marines took place between the early 1900's and 1934. The Cold War happened after 1945. So, you need to read "History of Nicaragua" by Jaime Incer Barquero but also "Sandino, General of Free Man" by Gregorio Selser which is a compilation of cold hard facts about the attrocities committed against Nicaraguan civilians, and the ravaging of Nicaragua's wealth by transnationals using the Marines.
