i actually get between those hours of sleep and im still tired/groggy.... im a night person so its hard to go to sleep unless its like 2am-4am
i try to keep myself away from all the negativity that my family gives off because of their past that they cant get rid of but its hard
About the silence... certain things wake me up, music sometimes even puts me to sleep... it depends on the person really. im so used to it. I'm better at doing things at night (work, play, etc)
im Not trying to be mean but....you should ease up on the makeup. It tends to make real women look like wanna be women (tranny) You are very pretty and dont need all that lipstick. My friend thought u were male and thats y she wanted to click on your video.
With pillows size IS everything, the bigger the better. If you can get a hold of the European 70 x 90cm (27" x 35") size then go for it. Skinny pillows crank the neck forward - chuck em - go large!
This need to be repeatedly said/informed in many "modern" societies. I have already seen a couple of Dr. Mercola's videos about the importence of getting enough (good quality) sleep.
I love sleep! I am a deep sleeper I can sleep through any noise! I love sleeping in and then saying in a nice comfortable bed while I let my mind wander. I enjoy doing that for about an hour but I don't have the time to do that anymore.
I just wanted to say that I think about the video you did about why you don't watch tv at home quite often. I think about how I could cut down on tv and experience real life more.
I never thought about it being meditation but I guess it is. I have to get up right away out of bed because I have to cook dinner and make my best friend's lunch in a 2 hour period right after that. On our days off it's usually him yelling at me to get up out of bed and he knows I will fall asleep again if he doesn't bother me until I get out of bed. I visited my Grandparents for 2 weeks in July and I did that every day it was nice to do that again at least for just a few days.
I actually wet the bed for many years because of it thank goodness my bladder wakes me up now. I sleep through the people that mow the lawn and there was an earthquake here in 93 called the spring break quake I slept through that. I tell people I am such a deep sleeper I have literally slept through an earthquake. I woke up and the plates on the wall in front of me were crooked I was like what the hell happened this morning?!?
Tips? I find that light stretching (light hatha yoga) or deep breathing works to get the physical tension out of the muscles. (Not strenuous exercise)
On (rare) nights where there was a particular stress or excitement, I find 0.5 mg of melatonin works amazingly well... most pills I've seen are 3.0 mg but (for me) 3.0 mg is unnecessary. Seems to be more natural than synthetic "sleeping pills."
The stretching is a great idea, I haven't thought of that, I usually stretch in the morning. I've heard that sleep deprivation is a form of torture in some places too. Crazy huh? I don't wake up to an alarm clock either anymore, I'm so grateful.
When I started to work at home (and could wake up ~every day without an alarm clock), I could get as much sleep as I needed. Getting enough sleep changed my life, my entire outlook, and I hadn't even realized it before.
I've read several places that denial of REM sleep will cause psychoses. Denial of sleep is a form of torture.
Oh, and last thing. Not sure how reliable this is, but in some Chinese medicine report, it said that various hours of the night are naturally relaxation times for certain parts of the body, for example, 11-12 PM may be the time when your liver recovers (that's not actually one of the relaxation times...I don't remember which is which XD)
Xavia: I sleep actually alot when I'm depressed. It's like a escape from the world outside :o(
Gary: I always figure, the sooner I get to sleep the sooner I can dream of you Dianne ... now that is motivation!!! ;-) (and a bit of optimism)
Christie: Thank you for the great advice. Insomnia in the middle of the night is horrible. To wake up every night between 2am and 3am is absolutely awful! Ill try anything at this point.
I agree with everything except the use of ear plugs all the time whilst sleeping. It's definitely a step too far towards intollerance of your natural enviroment leading to alienation and could also be dangerous for your ears, and of course if there any noises that could alert you to burglary or fire or another emergency you could be completely oblivious. If you're disturbed by generic light noise at night such as light traffic noises then a white noise machine would definitely be my choice.
Good point. I only pop them in if I hear dogs barking incessantly or so and yes, I only wear them when I know I have the luxury to just sleep in. Thanks for that, I totally agree.
Ahhh, I sleep with noise or not, light or not, comfy place or not, etc ... :-)) But I completely agree with all your points. Additionally, sometimes the sleepiness issue could be related to thyroid hormone levels that need to be checked. That seems to be an offshoot of relation of thyroid hormone and anxiety. Loved the segment at the end :-))
Low seratonin levels may be responsible for poor sleep - you can get supplements of these. A special night time milk with extra melatonin is available too - I agree, test it on the cat first lol
Bad news on the M&Ms unfortunately, theobromine, which increases heart rate and causes sleeplessness, is found in small amounts in chocolate, especially dark. Chocolate even contains caffeine which will keep you awake and chocolate even causes certain people to physically thrash around whilst sleeping.
Sorry I'll have to take those M&Ms away from you ............mmmm
The body sees sleep deprivation as a state of stress; cortisol is the stress hormone. Cortisol causes, in turn, the release of insulin and insulin is a storage hormone that promotes fat storage.
If you need darkness, fit black-out blinds and for silence, treble glazing. Listening to a meditation CD before bed helps and don't have any caffeine in the evening. Have a glass of warm milk before bedtime.
I agree that getting problems out of your life helps calm the mind and aids rest.
i was sleep deprived last year.. but the summer was a great time to catch up on sleep. wen i cam bac frm the summer, everyone was like 'wow u look so fresh n nice" n i felt less lazy and was able to concentrate more..
but now again.. less sleep cz of school.. thank goodness we hav two days for a weekend cz in sum countries, it's only like one day! k i shd stop now.
I love the way you ended the video. That was so cute. I think this is one of my favorite videos of yours. There are lots of interesting facts and you just seem so cheerful and happy in it *smile*. You must be having a great day.
As someone who has obstructive sleep apnea, I've learned the importance of sleep the hard way. After 10 years, it would just feel wrong to sleep without my CPAP machine and the gentle background noise it makes :-)
I moved my bed around my room to a new spot and I now sleep better...Why I sleep better??? I don't know. But it's worth a try if someone is having trouble getting sleep.
Here is a Tip to better sleep : 20-30 mins of exercise a day or at least every other day. This combind with all you said will also aid a person to a better nights sleep. ♥
Thank you Dianne for this very comprehensive and thoughtful video .I am a fan of Dr. Mercola also .923 went by as though it was 30 seconds . Thanks again !
