i believe if the youngins wasn't so busy wasting their time on stuff like CoD multiplayer, this game would be one of the games they would LOVE when they're like 5 to 15 y.o and when they grow up and their taste in games evolve and mature they will still love it for the nostalgic memories.

Speed Racer is about 5 five simple things

1. Fast Custom Cars and the Racers Who Drive Them

2. Explosions

3.Colorful Evil Racecar Drivers with unique motifs

4. Convoluted plot points

5. Big Mouth Wide Eyed Reaction Shots

Anything else is just bad movie scripting. Speed Racer the movie should have been inspired more closely to Steeve McQueens Bullit.

This game has great gameplay. The car fu thing is no problem: it's actually fun once you understand how to control it. The only problem of this game is that it does not have that much content. There's a lot of characters and cars (all awesome) but few tracks.

I have the game and once you get the grip is pretty fun especially if your playing multiplayer destroying each other. The controllers are very well made they respond as a charm, one of the best racer for the Wii using the remote without the nunchuck for the stick. Sad it doesn't have online.

lol last comment: apparently this is on PS2 also. So some frustration with the motion controls may be rectified on the PS2 version.

The game is really fun though. If you were waiting for FZero or a Wipeout game for the Wii, well this is the next best thing. I highly recommend it, especially for the price it is now.

I have to disagree with Mark on this one (even though I had the same complaints early on) . The car fu has an incredibly difficult learning curve due to the motion controls and learning when and where to time your hits. Once you understand HOW to hit it becomes a lot easier. Though the later levels are brutal with the rubber banding which I think is the REAL downside to the game.

Speed Racer shouldn't have been made into a movie cause the movie is just too boring. I've tried on several occasions to watch the movie, and I fell asleep every time. I even tried watching the movie when I was fully awake and I still fell asleep. It's just a boring movie. There's just way too much dialogue and not enough speed or racing. The movie should have been called Speed Talking because there wasn't much racing in it.

@Ryanmiller70 well, really, when you think about it, if it was all action and no story, it'd be about 45 minutes and would make no sense, i really think they made the movie with fans of the old series in mind but working with the idea of modernizing it to keep it interesting for kids, hell, i love the movie, i think it's set up nicely and builds the characters well, and my kid brother loves it too, though that's probably because as with most movies he'll only watch the parts he likes..

I think that the 2008 movie is REALLY REALLY underrated. I think most people say they don't like it just because it's based on a cartoon. I loved the film, the story was involving, the characters I felt were real and I felt for Speed when everything was on the line during the final race. The special effects were fantastic, the best I've seen. I didn't care if they went didn't say "Oo ah ohh!" I got some good acting. Also the Racer X twist I didn't see coming. Great movie.
