  • does anyone know what is the French game played on board, dice, with little horses moving along the squares? I remember seeing it in one of Jeunet's films.

  • 5:40 what is happening to Krank? Is he remembering something that actually happened? Did the inventor put the dream machine on the infant Krank when he was first 'created'? And Krank's remembering of this event is tearing him apart inside? Because it seems to either kill him or make him braindead

or was this event something that only happened in the dream, and was Miette's doing? Obviously the inventor himself never joined into the dream, but Miette pulled the switch and he came...

  • The Original score is 100x's better.

Now... that's not to say that the score which you have introduced is bad in any way. I do like it...only it doesn't do the whole scene justice. The moment when Miette is in the dream, you only get the musical score. There are very minimal vocals and sounds, if any, at the moment of transformation. That is a Very critical moment! I've seen your version and Angelo's- and IMO yours is very slow, and very quiet.

I respect that you are a Fan of this great film!

  • @MrShaun42088 : Thanks very much for your honest feedback. You mention that:

"only it doesn't do the whole scene justice. The moment when Miette is in the dream, you only get the musical score. There are very minimal vocals and sounds, if any, at the moment of transformation."

Just for clarification's sake, there was no way for me to keep any of the original dialog from the scene (if that's what you mean by vocals).

    I appreciate your feedback.

  • Oh! This is your music? Awesome! Thanks for posting this! You are very talented!

  • I always loved Miette-- she was Firstly so beautiful. Secondly such a strong character. being on the streets you have to think on your toes. Clever and brave. In that dress, she always reminded me of a little Alice. The END-- is by far the greatest SFX i've seen. That dream tripped me out! It was pretty amazing to actually SEE her become the Woman she always tries to be, and then to see the Woman who's she Destined to be. What a transformation!! LOVED it!

  • Too bad you can't hear the voices. But thank you for this really... really creepy score! Reminds me of the score for Fable II.

  • Thanks very much, I appreciate the kind words.

  • I'm gonna keep you in mind if I never need a soundtrack composed.

  • The visuals in this film were great. For some reason it kind of reminded me of Brazil, with Robert De Niro.

  • very good terry gilliam film :)

  • Well done.

  • great film i came home after a few too many spliff's and wacked this on and i was just mind blown by the weird visual style and innovative story, really tripped me out as well though. : )

  • Thank you...apart from the opening sequence this is my favorite. Few films have moved me in such a magical way. Cocteau's Beauty & the Beast, Black Orpheus, Peter Weir' s Walkabout, Fellini, Terry Gilliam, Werner Herzog films are those I can think of at the moment

  • your music is great, but by putting 'original music' you might confuse a lot of native english speakers into thinking that this is THE original music/score, which I learn from comments below, it is not. perhaps a clearer wording could be sought.

  • Duly noted and adjusted, thanks for the suggestion!

  • I've been looking all over the place, who is that little boy eating at the end of this movie what is his name and is there a clip of this somewhere? It was my favorite part !

  • This isn´t the original score and sound. I´ve got the dvd and that particular scene where she dances with him has got a very particular theme. The music for the film is very special, I guess you could say that Jean-Pierre Jeunet is somewhat like Tim Burton in that sense because they´ve both got a talent for finding good composers that create music that fit the mood of the film precisly.

  • That's correct. As the introductory card and the youtube description for the clip imply, the music is my own score.

And I agree, the original score by Angelo Badalamenti is extremely well done. Thanks for posting.

  • i loved this film i wanna buy it and pass it down to my sons so that they can see how beutiful this movie is.

  • I am so happy to find this clip! Thank you!!!

  • Beautiful film.

  • The quality here is more clear than the blockbuster dvd I rented!

  • chilling and beautiful. The toys in the beginning especially.

  • This film was so visually stunning.

  • what is this movie about

  • its about a guy that cant have dreams so he steals children to watch their dreams and discover the secret so he can have them (cos apparently not being able to dream makes him old or somin) however in so stealing the children they get scared and instead have nightmares. one kid that is stolen has a older oafish brother that goes looking for him, meets a girl, she helps blah blah blah

  • tasty adaption of score to scene(s)........ 10/01

  • wow this looks amazing; visually stunning and the music is fantastic. Reminds me of American McGee's Alice - cant wait to get this.

  • thats exactly what i was thinking about (American mcgees alice)...

  • One of the best movie post 90's,

my fav. french movie with Delicatessen, Jeunet&Caro rules (did).

Original theme from the movie is made by Angelo Badalamenti (usually working with Lynch), best than this reinterpretation, wich is however cool.

  • I've said before that like your music but I wish I could get this same scene with the original dialogue and incredible score. A match made in music & filmmaking heaven

  • well done- fabtastic music! i simply have to see this film! hopefully santa will be kind to me this yr (and won't try to steal my dreams)

  • Oh baby, that's good steampunk.

  • WOW! You truely have a gift for music! I loved how the score went so well with the tone and visuals of this clip. Keep up the fantastic work!

  • Thanks so much for listening, and for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • this is one of my most favorite movies of all time. i the visual stimuli is stellar. love the actors , could you imagine anyone else playing the part of krank? and miette is the beautiful but hardend street kid. love it.

  • I don't think it's just a movie ...More than a movie

  • The sound and dialog were removed so that I could put my own score to the clip. (It's an all or nothing procedure... you either have the music, sound and dialog all at once, or you don't.) So, for this, you'll just need to imagine the dialog and sounds. Good question, sorry if it wasn't clear, and I hope you enjoyed the music!

  • so uh.. wheres the sound?

    the dialogue???

  • The comments were taken straight from the film's entry from IMDB. I really don't know the true definition of an "art film" myself, but I assume someone there does. Hope you enjoyed the music and thanks for watching.

  • Define "art film"? I don't think of it as an "art film" myself...

  • Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! :)

  • great stuff!!! Keep it up!

  • Of all the magical moments this is my favorite scene I would love to have this clip embed with or without your music.

  • Most welcome! Thank you for listening and for your comments.

  • i luv the overall tone of the film.the blend of special effects& paint.1&miette.thnk u for sharing,everone should c this film(&dream)!!!

  • Thank you very much for your kind words!

  • truly my most favorite film ever. Like great music compositions films can be as transcending. This is surely a brilliant work of art. Cool music Kukla
