  • that is just keeping traffic moving and not wasting gasoline.

  • Will you see a camera flash in the daytime if you roll through a right turn?

  • The car was turning before the green arrow came up. Sorry, that is running a red light.

  • Shoulda stopped. I bet the reason the light doesn't instantly turn to a green arrow is because the cross traffic doesn't always get a left turn signal. They want people making a right at that point to stop and make sure that cross traffic wasn't allowed to go. (very common for left turn signals to only activate when there's traffic wanting to turn left.)

  • @mr3vil666 The reason the light doesn't go yellow-green is that red follows yellow. CA Vehicle Code reads:

V C Section 21452 Circular Yellow or Yellow Arrow

21452. (a) A driver facing a steady circular yellow or yellow arrow signal is, by that signal, warned that the related green movement is ending or that a red indication will be shown immediately thereafter.

  • if you had your visor down and recieved a ticket by the video camera it will be thrown out of court

  • I made a playlist of cars triggering the sensors for your viewing pleasure. Go down to the intersection take a pic of the sensor location and then see where your vehicle is as the light switches in comparison to the sensor. Of course the judge won't listen to this argument but it is interesting observation all the same.

  • It is the sensors in the road switching the yellow to red premature. Let's say the yellow is supposed to be 3.5 sec but a car hits the sensor at 3.1 sec than boom! Ticket! Watch all the videos on you tube 9 out of 10 times the light switches within one car length of the stop line exactly were the sensors are located. I videoed this myself for a court case only to find at court it happened again 9 out of 10 times. Easy to see once you know to look for.

  • Look red follows yellow. Not green. The driver should have been prepared for a full and compete stop.

@gregopvuur, if you drive I would suggest you be tested for colour blindness.

  • @LastBrigand Yeah. However, in DC, I just got ticket. I actually stopped, and there isn't a "no turn on red" sign. In any case, there is nothing wrong if these prices are reasonable. They are insane and then they double. Under the veneer of safety. What I see is people in ski-masks running to individuals sticking guns to their backs. It's not just, it's kleptocracy, and it should be addressed. They need to worry about real crimes

  • It's a trap. Same thing in Arizona. They make loads of money for 'red light' running and make you go to a class, where they show stories of broadside hits of red light runners. The problem is when you have an intersection in which all traffic is stopped anyway, and thus the trap snaps shut and they fine you.

  • what about the truck before him that didn't even stop and ran through the fully red light?

  • There's an intersection here in Pigeon Forge Tennessee that does the same thing. Right turn off Veterens Blvd onto Jayell Road. I asked the police chief himself about it and he all but outright told me it would be OK to not stop in between the time the light goes red and the right turn arrow comes on

  • I have the right to confront my accuser, these cameras should be removed and banned; force the police to work off those fat pensions by walking the beat and doing real police work.

  • The motorist clearly approaches the amber phase late with no visible intent to stop and crosses the stop bar while the light is red.

If the motorist is familiar with the signal and is anticipating the arrow they should also be anticipating the red phase and time the crossing of the stop bar to coincide with the arrow.

Does the poster have another defense to offer?

In addition, the motorist fails to comply with CA vehicle codes 22108 and 22100.

  • @mtgpsman This is a perversion of law enforcement. It is not about road safety at this point, it becomes purely about revenue. Should we have speeding ticket machines that write you violations for going 41mph on a 40mph road?

  • @Entar0 Traffic control devices influence traffic safety by the imposition of "order".

"Stop" must be defined and applied consistently to all movements.

If you operate a motor vehicle you are required to know and comply with vehicle code:

CVC: 21450- "The sequence in which they are lighted is green to yellow, yellow to red, and red to green."

CVC: 21452- "A solid yellow traffic light means that the light will soon change to red."

  • California needs all the revenue it can get.

  • This isn't worth a ticket at all, whoever designed this isn't really bright or was hired to make more money for the city, in either case it's bullshit

  • The punishment should fit the crime. I'd say fine him $2.

  • yes, this is definitely not warranting of a ticket. other places should follow the city of anaheim, ca in deciding to permanently ban the installation of these cameras, especially when it becomes apparent that it is the fault of programming, not the driver.
