ha. my case is very similar. i just learned about finding shinies this way like a day or two ago. and my first swarm/first try with chaining is lickitung. same area too. idk if licky shows up anywhere else. my chains keep breaking with noctowl or bibarels though. my highest chain is 24 lickitungs so far. imma keep tryin before this swarm goes away.

(this might be long) when you get national pokedex you also get a pokeradar, so when you use it in tall grass youll see some spots move. when you do go on them. then keep repeating that process over and over again

Shiny patches are literally very bright and don't move, they just shine.

Shinies don't come easily. After chaining up to 40, you should stop chaining and concentrate on resetting the radar instead so you don't risk breaking the chain.

A chain is when you try to encounter a certain Pokemon a number of times in a row. In my video, I was chaining for Lickitung. A chain of 2 means that I encountered Lickitung two times in a row. A chain is broken when a different Pokemon (that you're not looking for) is encountered. So for example, my chain of Lickitung could have broken if I encountered a Psyduck.

You are very lucky! I caught a shiny Starly because of chaining, but I had a chain of 40! Yeah, I'm bad at chaining too, I haven't caught a shiny by chaining since. Being very new to chaining, indeed, even reaching 10 will be hard. A shiny at 2, that's nice, though. Glad you found your first shiny, seeing that non-rustling shiny patch is really awesome, yush?

Here is a suggestion (it's what I always do), bring a Pokemon with a move like Poisonpowder. A poisoned pokemon loses HP little by little all the time, and some ingame characters also say poisoned pokemon are easier to catch in general. =3
