Having said that, his voice (clearer at the start) sounds quite amazing. Anyone know who the didg player is?
If anyone's interested in looking up another Tibetan singer, the one I mentioned is Tenzin Choegyal, though tbh I haven't found a recording that did his voice justice - it can fill a hall. He's from the Mustang region.
It's good to see Tibetans. I just came out of a Tibetan singing bowls thread, with not a Tibetan in sight!
How nice it would be to see Tibetans represent in Tibet!
@itsme61 - hmm. Have studied Chinese & also hung out with traditional Tibetan singer here in Sydney who can't return to his homeland. Tibet is an exotic novelty to the Chinese. How on earth from one singer making a TV appearance would you gather an absence of oppression? I love Chinese culture, but what they have done in Tibet is wrong. However, they view it as improvement. It is not an improvement for the Tibetan people driven out of their home, clearly. A TV slot is not an alive culture.

looks like Tibetan culture is alive, flourishing and broadcast nationwide over CCTV, contrary to being suppressed as the exiles claim.

Explain this, is it Purba Rgyal or Phurpa Kyap? Because everyone seems to call him something different.
