after i render and i feel like a video clip is still a little off so i nudge a little. after i move that clip it shows that the while clip needs to be rendered again. is that supposed to happen? what if i render a long clip that takes 30 minutes to render and i have to move it 4 or 5 times? then i have to wait over 2hrs to get it right? that stinks! Is there anything I can do about this?

render speed differs a great amount. it depends on what you're rendering, how long the clip is, and the quality. so her computer actually might not be faster. You'd probably have to see other renders that are similar to be able to compare

Avid has an add on called Mojo which renders in realtime as you edit. pricey though
