  • i want a time machine to go to one of their gigs and have a pinte of beer!

  • what guitar is it? This song makes me want to learn guitar.

  • post punk jewel!

  • i love the bass sound, is it Fender Precision Bass?

  • really good sounds!

  • Guessing The Way was a great purchase :-)

  • As a member of Tunnelvison.....I never felt that I was on a record label..! Maybe thats a good thing, in hindsight....? No twats like Louis Walsh or Simon Cowell putting you on a PA treadmill.....And slow death

  • Great song, but my favourite thing is the brilliantly inventive sleeve, by Martyn Atkins, which is made up of dictionary definitions, even to the point where the catalogue number is [FAC39]. A great artefact all round. A great pity that Factory Records' management's business acumen was, well, shite - not making money, but producing high-end beautiful product like this. Read Peter Hook's 'The Hacienda - How Not To Run A Club' - It's simply heartbreaking.

  • This sums up 1950's Britain.....Genius

  • Hello,

Where can I found the lyrics of Watching Tthe Hydroplane and Guessing The Way's albums.

    Thank You

  • @FrenchStumm101 hi, your welcome check out the video comments,, one of the band members explained the lyrics and ltm compilation i can't find it to.

  • "Factory's techno ballad".....Tony Wilson.

  • I was at the London Tabernacle gig when they supported New Order in 81.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • very nice :)

  • Magic..

  • great song *^

    grettings from Bolivia

  • Wonderful stuff ! I just love the bleak and moody tunes from "Factory's" early years...

  • Quiet the night through lace and tan,

We've got a bad new wolsey man,

Who listens to broadcasts in '54....

Hydroplanes are back at your door.

  • "We're watching the hydroplanes on tv,

the dull 50's pain was in your head,

dying in Wolsey at Ascot each year,

you've never had it so dead......

At Farnborough Airshow, you and me....

Hold you in my arms, we're just as free as... Tony Curtis and the DC3....Slow and crying.

And now we are married, we have a kid, the hyroplane's gone, babe its gone...

The 50's are over, a black and white dream...

    Gilbert Harding and primeval scream.

  • You're my 'Wolsey' baby.....

    (A make of car...)

    Fed on 'dreck'....

(An old English slang term for shit..)

  • @stakka79

Dreck is actually German/Yiddish for Filth.

  • Thanks....I knew it meant something 'rotten'...!

  • thanx for uploading mate!

  • This is great. Somehow I missed this track the first time around, in spite of being a big FAC fan at the time.

I have to disagree with critics that said Tunnelvision was warmed-over Joy Division. This particular track has a very different feel -- big and expansive. It reminds me a little of John Foxx's Metamatic, with less detachment.

  • I own this, thanks for posting!

  • Ta WOMPYCHOPS, I'm a yankee, so my

elucidation of Manc is flawed. I do that a lot with lyrics, put in the ones I think I hear.

    Anyway great song.....

  • No problem .I only know because my friend wrote them.

  • You couldn't persuade him to post them somewhere, could you? I can make out most of them, but this is just too good let any of them get away.

  • Watching the Hydroplanes, Kremlin in check, your morals evade me, fed on dreck....fucking brilliant....thanks for posting haven't heard this in years.

  • Just a minor point - "Crinolene and check, your my Wolsey baby"...sorry!

  • Oh cool, could you post the rest of the lyrics?

I'd love to see the lyrics to Glenn Miller too!

  • If anyone is interested I got this single in mint cond.

UK 1981 ( Factory Fac 39 )[First Pressing Clear Vinyl].

  • beautiful

  • thanks for this mate.fucking love this song

  • A Classic Coldwave (-_-)

  • Fantastic - I remember this from 1981 and have been waiting to hear this again for fifteen years!
