Why weren't the giant corporations given a chance to comment? I'd like to hear this from both sides of the issue. This "news" piece only gives me the consumer one side of the issue.
Funny how the vid discusses diversity and hearing many voices - yet it only presents one side of the argument.
Obama’s “FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn Free Internet a Civil Right for Every Nappy-Headed Child” watch?v=JWETGCggzcE She also voted for Net Neutrality, which could ultimately censor the internet impeding our first amendment rights of Freedom of Speech. watch?v=lGplqSh8fYU

Her dad is James Clyburn, former house majority WHIP. She’s probably aware our unfunded liabilities are $113 Trillion per us debt clock. (Also Obama wants a “kill switch” for the entire internet!)
Remember when AT&t was once a monopoly but was finally broken up into many smaller telecom firms?? The same must be done for American media! We need to split CNN, MSNBC, and Fox into several smaller outlets that serve the public interest. No more media giants. All media must have a fair shake.
Will the 5 or 6 media conglomerates soon become only 4?? And then eventually 3? And then 2? Until one day, we have only one major company controlling just about everything we see, hear and read?? We must not let that happen!!! That is no better than state-run media.
Nazis want to dumb down America and destroy diversification and the truth. One way is to buy up all of the media. The FCC constantly acts against the public trust and should be fired!
Keep up the good work, some good substance here, and agree completely with the viewpoint here. I know Martin refused to interview, but if I could suggest you find someone to represent the other side then it wouldn't feel so one-sided.
Geo. Orwell had it right .... just the year was wrong. Soon ALL business will be owned by 5 major companies in the country . The USA will be called " The United Companies of America " God help us ... it is capitalism gone wild
I've done some work with NAB and don't agree with this video. Adelstein and the Free Press folks have such a reactionary view of media. They want to reach back to the Carter era, or even further, when there were only a couple TV stations or newspapers in each town. I agree with Martin and other voices (like the L.A. Times) who recognize that the media landscape is very fragmented with the rise of New Media. Many rural stations and newspapers are kept afloat thanks to corporate resources.
but they broadcast the same thing with a different voice. you can change the station but not the songs. the only hope is the new media, which some are controlling more and more of (ie. internet)
It's simple, Kevin Martin stands to profit from allowing more consolidation. The FCC has never been independent. I'm for an overhaul of the FCC. Make it a lottery system and draw two commission members from each of the bureaus at random who meet age criteria. That would stop this bullshit.
Why won't Congress stand up to the Federal Reserve with the same kind of public policy review requirements as they do with the FCC?
Why has Congress abdicated it's Constitutional mandate to coin money and regulate the value thereof, yet it has no problem slapping around an extra-Constitutional agency like the FCC?

Did you know that
Clearchannel just recently went up for auction. Mitt Romney's Bain Capital bought it just when he started running for President!
Google it... it is TRUE!

Start covering REAL News and report it plainly without spin, then maybe people will start reading the paper again.
Everyone know that Mainstream(corporate) Media are opinion monsters.

Kevin Marin (who looks extremely young to be FCC Chairman, btw) will be VP of NewsCorp after he does their bidding as FCC chair.
This system is so corrupt. How many congressmen, cabinet secretaries etc are now lobbyists or execs in the industry's they once "oversaw"?

Outrageous. Corruption in the US is running out of control.

Personally, I despise the FCC. Bunch of old farts who think they know what's morally and economically right for the citizens, my ass.

Republican "deregulation" is anti-democratic. These filthy, greedy pigs must be stopped. They should be tried and executed as traitors.
