@beepandbop At the time, the Cannanites and the Mitanni were client states of the Hittites. They could pursue their own ambitions as long as the Hittite king said they could. So either, the Hittite king had ordered the Cannanites and Mitanni to attack Megiddo or the campaign had been undertaken with the Hittite king's consent.

@englishfrenchgerman that can't be right. The Hittite King Suppiluliuma I (c. 1350–1322) first came into conflict with the Mitanni, during the revival of the Hittite Empire and fortunes. Thutmoses III lived a century earlier, from 1479–1425 BC.
Also, Suppiluliuma began conquering bits of the Mitanni Empire, but he hadn't crushed the entire thing under his fist--his successors would complete that task.

Incredibly, the Romans used the stirrup years before they ever met the Hun.
However, it was solely used to train the young for the saddle. It was considered to be 'training wheels'!
The real reason that the stirrup and calvary never took off in Rome was the food expense of massed horses in Italy vs the Steppes. Further, the Romans never developed footwear suitable for the stirrup. Note how different cowboy boots are from walking boots.
Plus, the cultural bias of infantry, first.

@singularku Also it is very hard swinging a sword or charging home with a lance without using the stirrup for support hence no extreme use of cavalry...but still that is not very true...cavalry was used extensively by Alexander also i believe Caesar won the battle of Alesia mainly due to his Germanic Cavalry who also used no stirrup...Pathians watsed Crassus at Carrhai using cavalry archers and they also used no stirrup...so hmm food for thought maybe...

"Four horned" saddles were used which provided quite some stability. It did not provide the same support making the couched lance stance to a degree and fighting mounted in close combat difficult. "The Arabs" did not invent the stirrup and the stirrup were introduced earlier. :)

Natural selection, genes, play a part in height, but environmental factors such as diet, exercise, disease and living conditions also play a part. As human living conditions improved (houses/warmth/medical/sanitary) and food was able to be produced on mass, human height increased.
