  • @TheGonzalezvalle no you don't. the ram is actually under the keyboard.

  • So? I have 10.2.8 on mine.

  • 96MB of RAM was never enough for Mac OS X. 10.1 only started to move at a decent rate with 160MB of RAM, and even then you'd have hardly any left to open any programs(excellent virtual memory management struggling to be of any assistance on these old slow hard drives).

  • @wwoorrdd I agree with you about that. 10.1 was sluggish as lol. It originally had OS 9 but it was Asian and I couldn't read half of the stuff on it. If I still had the clam-shell I would have reloaded 9.2.2 and put a heap of software and games on it. But for now my old power-mac running OS 9 is enough.

  • @wwoorrdd wait, 96MB? I have 576MB.

  • hey how do you update it... i have tried and it tells me error

  • it can 10.3 you know!

  • The iBook clamshell only supports WEP encryption or no encryption :P over wireless

  • Install More RAM and it will work faster?

  • @HBeagley yes it will but u can not install ram in it becouse u have to take apart the whole computer to et to it

  • can you up grade the prossesor of the clamshell

  • NO! the processor is soldered no the Logic Board

  • @macman2256

Could you in theory take a 900mhz g3 cpu from one logic board and solder it to a clamshell?

  • @daro2096 I would doubt it. The chips would be different I would imagine.

  • @daro2096 you have to also deal with the heat.

  • yeah too bad the g4 processor upgrades are really expensive

  • Yea i was gonna get the 1ghz g4 upgrade but with the current exchange rate it wasn't worth getting a upgrade for the old Powermac g3

  • yeah i could see if it was your primary but, yeh your right,.

  • I don't think it even had idisk on it, thats the boot screen for the original mac os x, before the boot screen on 10.2

  • The mercury in the display needs time to warm up and when it does that the colours on the display brighter.

  • Hey, Only the mac os x 10.1 boot screen was dark, when it had mac os 9 it was bright from the second it turned on!

  • do you still have the power mac?

  • No, I sold it, as i now have a 24" imac
