Just looking at the face of your lazy sheeps made me smile.
I was wondering why you were using fondant instead of gum paste and then I read the other comments and I realized you made this video before the gum paste vs fondant video...
Thanks for the laugh even if I look funny laughing alone in the kitchen
In order to make your paste stronger add some tylose powder to it. You could also add half and half flower paste and sugar paste (fondont). Thank you for your posts they are really informative.
I am making a birthday cake for a friend of mine and I was wondering what type of fondant should be used? Normally I just use box cake but Im feeling creative...
How about Marshmellow fondant, I've used it, all it is, is powdered sugar and melted marshmellow, theres a youtube video on it. Just give it 24 hours before using. Lots of friends tell me they prefer it to the regular one.
Your videos are great! I was wondering where you get this tylose powder and what kind of fondant you use? Its my first time using fondant i made my own marshmellow fondant and i find with the humidity its too soft to make anything with it. Can you put the tylose in mm fondant? Thanks so much your cakes are beautiful!!!
thank you :) i buy my tylose from a local cake supplier store. i couldn't find it in micheal's or walmart. if you put tylose in marshmallow fondant , it will dry up to a hard shell -- using tylose is great for making figures since they arent usually eaten. if your fondanty for the cake dries up really hard, i dont think that will be something you will want. Have you tried adding more powdered sugar in your mm fondant? Hope you find this helpful. thanks again!
Wonderful video! Adorable sheep! If you knead in a bit of Tylose powder into the sugar medium (fondant, choc. clay, or marzipan) it should hold its shape better.
Thanks :) I just recently discovered this wonderful powder ( tylose ) -- ny goodness, now i look back at this poor sheep and i pity him. he would have looked a lot better with tylose :) thanks so much for that!
I was thinking, why don't you shove a tooth pick in the legs, and let them sit to harden a bit, and then once they're hard enough you make the rest of the sheep and just shove the tooth pick into the soft body? OR you can just do what TammysCakes said to do :P
Maybe that would work too... but trying to make the whole body at 1am did not give me time to let any of them harden haha... so to 'try' to make the sheep look whole, he had to lie down :) ( besides, he was sleepy already haha )
I really think gumpase will give better results-- i gotta try that real soon !!!
oh, if you can get hold of 'cmc' powder or its also called 'tylos' powder, it makes your fondant alot harder and dries hard so you can make your sheep stand up. it kinda turns the fondant into modelling paste in a way. its completeley edible and works wonders for my figurines i make!
hehe, i will definatley try these sheep and i will attempt to make them stand, i just hope the body isnt too heavy or their legs will look like little squashed party sausages!! :P
i love this video thank you for uploading it. :)

Mayen, did you insert the figures on the circus train cake with toothpicks?
julykatty1 2 years ago
yup i did. anything with considerable weight on it has to be anchored with a toothpick

I think the sheep needs a tail but it is adorable

informative video, thanks. For the legs, use toothpicks just as you did for the rest of the body. It stands just fine.
