@MaximB13 For more people than those under "USSR Propaganda", its NATO's reputation for bombing more bystanders and fellow troops than enemy targets. NATO alliance may be useful for ending international conflicts, but not so much when its tactic of deterring an evil leader is by bombing innocent civilians that wanted nothing to with wars. When NATO tried to end Serbian aggression in Kosovo they bombed civilian targets of both Albanians and Serbs. They didn't aim for that dictator Milosevic.

They've recently been bombing friendly targets in Libya, and every other war they've been in, and for reasons like that I would not accept friendship in NATO if I was president. I don't know why NATO still exists, let alone expanded. All that it is a continuation of cold war strategic alliances against an enemy that's no longer a threat, but is worthless in combating the new enemy of non-state military groups using terroism tactics on civilian targets.
I don't think you know what NATO was originally organized for. Yes, there are still threats around the world that can affect the interests of many nations. However, Japan, South Korea and even Isreal are not members of NATO, but are the most vulnerable to the first three you mentioned.

If by some miracle the Ukraine will join NATO against the will of the population, half the Ukrainian military will defect to Russia, Just like they did after the break up of the USSR. And furthermore there are treaties with Russia that prohibit expansion into former Soviet territories. Why should Ukraine alienate itself? Ukraine should pursue neutrality.

Why do people think NATO - is a bad thing?
Because of USSR propagation...I wonder why people are against it?
And why do people forget,that in 1954 USSR wanted to join NATO,but NATO rejected this offer.And after that,Moscow direction decided to make something kind of like NATO-Warsaw Pactm,but gathering round USSR only "socialistic" countries...Well,nearly quater of them are in NATO now :S They were under influence of Russia too,why they joined it? @MaximB13 For more people than those under "USSR Propaganda", its NATO's reputation for bombing more bystanders and fellow troops than enemy targets. NATO alliance may be useful for ending international conflicts, but not so much when its tactic of deterring an evil leader is by bombing innocent civilians that wanted nothing to with wars. When NATO tried to end Serbian aggression in Kosovo they bombed civilian targets of both Albanians and Serbs. They didn't aim for that dictator Milosevic.

By the way, if Ukraine had "The Nuclear Status" ,I mean if it had nuclear weapons - I'd say that our country doesn't need NATO,and we could protect ourselves from possible enemies. But now,we can't defend our country,and there are no allies that would help Ukraine in case of military conflict. That why I think - NATO is necessary thing for Ukraine.

They've recently been bombing friendly targets in Libya, and every other war they've been in, and for reasons like that I would not accept friendship in NATO if I was president. Even if the UN had been less successful in history, at least these guys know better than to fire at innocent bystanders.

I don't think you know what NATO was originally organized for. Yes, there are still threats around the world that can affect the interests of many nations. However, Japan, South Korea and even Isreal are not members of NATO, but are the most vulnerable to the first three you mentioned.

If by some miracle the Ukraine will join NATO against the will of the population, half the Ukrainian military will defect to Russia, Just like they did after the break up of the USSR. A lot left because they didn't want to serve in Ukrainian forces. And the population will explode in anger towards the government and it will be another revolution. Nato has long outlived its original purpose. It is obsolete. Its original purpose was to defend Europe from the USSR, and that threat hasn't existed for more then 20 years. So why is there a need for this ever endlessly expanding military alliance? Nato was never supposed to be operating in Eastern Europe. And furthermore there are treaties with Russia that prohibit expansion into former Soviet territories. Why should Ukraine alienate itself? Ukraine should pursue neutrality.

Its not so rare that Russia doesnt want Nato weapon at their doorsteps. I think it is aggressive of the USA to put rackets in those areas.

you're right. But it's not necessarily about weapons. It's a matter of alegiance. I love Ukraine, hell i'm half Russian, Half Ukrainian. I just don't think it will ever happen. Ukraine has no infuence on these matters, no matter how hard Yushenko and TImoshenko try. Russian and NATO will negotiate the matter, using natural resource prices as bargaining chips, along with the other isssues.

The Russian culture is entirely finno-ugric or Mongolian. for example Pelmeni is a finnish dish. the balalaika is a mongolia instrument. Moskva is a Mongolian word. The use of " u tebya" in Russia has it's roots in the Finno-Ugric languages. In slavic languages it's " ya maju" " ty maesh" ty mash" etc. Ukraine as a slavic nation owes it to itself to unite with it's slavic brothers in nato- Slovakia, Poland, Czech rep, Slovenia, Croatia etc.
