  • Sounds baptist with all the clapping, throwing up the hands, and standing. 1Cor.14:40 says LET ALL THINGS be done in DECENT and IN ORDER.

  • I've never heard a congergation get so excited singing this song. Not that brother williams was singing to draw attention to himself but he brought excitement out in this congergation.

  • NOW this is what you call singing!!!!

  • This man really sang this old song and made it come alive!!!!!!! He sang this song like I never heard it sang before.

  • Just letting you all know that I was not trying to be critical when I asked about the word change, just curious.

  • Why are they saying "camping toward Canaan" rather than "camping in Canaan"?

  • @bluegrassbaby86 (Because that is the name of the song! If you have a sacred selections for the church hymn book ,you will find it listed as that! on page 396 so that explains why he is saying camping toward canaan's land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  • unscriptual

  • How is it unscriptual?

  • What makes this song unscriptural? I've been hearing it all my life in the COC.

  • I also have been a member of the COC for almost 50 years and I find Paul's songleading so uplifiting not only to the members but to the Lord.

  • Paul you can use your talent for the Lord. The Bible teaches us to sing with an understanding. Ephesians 5:19 teaches us how to sing. Colosians 3:16 also teaches us how to sing. It is sinful to add to or take from God's word. Revelation 22:18-19 and Deuteronomy 4:1-4 discusses how God dealt with those who were persistent in not following his commands.

  • Ephesians 5:19 is taken out of context by the church of christ

  • @IAMSHAK how is out of context please use scripture to back up your statement

  • @IAMSHAK how is it taken out of context...explain the meaning of that scripture ot show me other scripture where we are wrong

  • Who is He? The Gap Band?

  • When one considers that it is scriptural to sing those songs that are psalms, hymns and spiritual songs - the latter category can include most anything uplifting that is Christ/God centered. What makes something relevant is contingent upon what it does and means for those who are yet benefitting from it. If this is "naustalgic" for you, that probably means that you are not among the group. Thus for YOU, it might be a youtube novelty, but it is certainly not merely that for others.

  • Ditto everything writer426 said! Thank you both for the comments. That's how we learn.
