Yeah I've had some leeches on my legs, hiking through some really wet areas. I salted/tabasco sauced them off, and I bled for a while, which is how I learned to just leave them on.

I know I'm not at risk there, being human and all, but I had to check my tongue in the mirror regularly for an entire week back then, because I was so freaked out. I dare you to google for more pictures; it closely resembles a certain kind of pasta on some (which I've never eaten since)...

Can't you put salt on leeches? I specifically remember my mom trying that when I had two leeches (one on each foot), and it didn't work. She claimed it was because they were too big, but it might just be because it doesn't work in general. Anyway, they had to be pulled off and it did hurt a bit.
