@ronnyfr11 obviously no 1 person could shut down mchale entirely but according to Bill Simmons he was the best at guarding mchale, because as i stated before, he went to college with Kevin and knew his moves. He gave McHale FITS.

he always made it look so..EASY;"Well-he didn't go for THAT FAKE;one more;there you go..up and under for the layup..".and he always seemed to be taking his time..like it didn't matter who the defender was or what the defender was doing...SO HUMILIATING,,..for those reasons,I would rather be dunked on or scorched by any other player ..than to be in Kevin McHale's torture chamber...
@DamindofManning Olajuwon was faster, stronger, and always the focal point of his team's offense;but McHale had MORE moves-a tremendous variety of shots, to respond to whatever the defender was doing..
Yeah it's true McHale's post moves wouldn't work today in the NBA. He's too slow and he wouldn't be able to keep up with the players today.......the man is 52 years old.
McHale in his prime....there is still no one in the league TODAY who could guard him.
Cover Kevin McHale? 1 player could never cover Kevin McHale unless his name was Bill Russell. Even Russ would have a hard time with McHale. Covering McHale was like trying to cover a football field with a postage stamp.
@jongib369 Bill Russell averaged 14.5 points vs Wilt and he was was limited offensively,Kevin McHale with his moves would have Wilt Spinning Like A Merry Go Round....LOL
@jongib369 Chamberlain stricty played center, McHale played power forward and center primarily when Robert Parrish was out of the game. Parrish played for 21 seasons and was the Celtics center during McHale's entire playing career with the Celtics. McHale great player but he sucked as a coach and G.M. in my opinion.
growing up in the 60s-80s,I used to hate hearing oldtimers talk beamingly about the "great" teams of yore, like the Yankees and Dodgers of way back, the Lombardi Packers,etc.....well I'm one of them now and I sure miss the 80s Celtics teams....will never be matched.
when i saw this guy as a rookie in 81 my first reaction was oh no who is this awkward bastard but after a year or so he began to develop some of the most cooky , craziest and then finally most fluid post moves ive ever seen in my life .ONCE HE WAS INTHE LOW POST IT WAS A WRAP you could not stop this mofo best post up player ever !!!!!!!
In all the talk about his post moves, which are indeed some of the best in basketball ever, people often overlook this guys almost unblockable fading jump shot from behind the head. McHale was truly one of the greats, and could easily play with today's players if he was in his prime.
mchale's moves would have alot of todays players in foul trouble. best post moves in history...i tried some of his moves in games...and with those moves you draw fouls alot..i did. mchale could have been on the line alot more than he was but if you notice the players back then, when Mchale started his moves, most players just stood there, trying not to foul. JUST BACK OFF AND LET THE MAN DO HIS THING.
"I think wingspan is every bit as important, maybe way more important than your height," said Minnesota Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale, who had an 8-foot wingspan in his day. "You've seen those guys that are 6-11, and they've got those pterodactyl arms. Those guys, they don't do too well."
There's no way someone 6,10" can have an 8 foot wingspan. Someone 6,10" with even a 7,5" wingspan would be very impressive and above average. I know many ppl have wingspans are a lot longer than their height, but the it's only by 4-5 inches usually and hell no more than a foot.
"No one can guard Kevin," Bird said, "especially in the playoffs."His arms were long enough to tie his shoes without bending over - and those arms were perhaps his greatest asset. McHale's wingspan, on his 6-10 body, has been estimated at 8 feet.
there's a 7,4" guy on the Harlem Globetrotters who has an 8 foot wingspan...Shagari Alleyne...it's hard to miss that guy in a game...he's just so huge!
kevin mchale will eat garnett's and rasheed's lunch everyday. thats good mchale was. the great charles barkley even said that he copied mchales up and under move and regarded him as the toughest post player in his era. and this includes other great post players karl malone, dream, ewing, moses malone and jabbar. garnett and rasheed dont have a go to move at the post. mchale could easily average 25 and 10 if he is playing.
Agreed and Barkley destroyed Garnett and Duncan at ages 34-36, overweight and with crippled knees and back problems. McHale is the Second Best Scoring PF Ever after Sir Charles. I think Garnett is the Best All Around PF though and Duncan right now the Best Post Game PF right now
He had some pretty decent moves, but he wouldn't get them shits in today's game. So much more athleticism these days would limit his moves. But Hakeem Olajuwon had WAY better post game than him. Foot work, speed, strength, athleticism, he's the best post player to me. Then Shaq
Hakeem was inferior than McHale in the Post. He might have been more athletic, agil and fast but McHale had way more Moves and a Superior Shooting Touch. Not to to forget McHale had an 8 ft winspam. What are u 20 years old Kid!!!? Basketball today is soft, no hard fouls & no handchecking allowed. McHale under todays rules would destroy the league even more. He shot 56% from the Field on what? 12-13 FGA PG? playing like 31-33 MPG. Don`t go by looks if not Bird & McHale would not have shooled :)
Kevin McHale against somebody like Kevin Garnett? Or Rasheed Wallace? He wouldn't stand a chance. He had moves, but the athleticism in big guys way more than anything he ever played against. His moves were subtle, but a guy like Olajuwon wouldn't struggle against that at all. Take Hakeem in his championship years against McHale in the 80's. Kevin McHale would get his ass handed to him
Your Basketball Ignorance simply does not deserve others that know the game to discuss this shit with you. Todays Players Lack what McHale Could Give Out as Tips on a Bar: SKILL and FUNDAMNETALS and an 8ft winspan on his 6`10 frame
Olajuwon wasn't near his prime in 86. McHale is too slow to play in today's league. An 8 ft wing span won't help him if he can't keep up with the guy he's supposed to be guarding. And those slow plodding moves he had wouldn't give him much advantage against a double team or triple team.
Funny. Well you are a 20 year old what can you know about the Golden Era of Basketball 80s- early 90s = Walks Were Called, Handchecking Was Allowed (So Real Skills and Fundamentals had the edge) and No Pussy Fouls Called. Just ask Barkley how good McHale was. McHale Destroyed both Hakeem and Sampson in 86. They Big and Athletic Enough? Go watch todays Ball: The Worst It Has Been Since the 60s Probably. No wonder Jordan, Stockton, Malone & Miller plus other 80s players kept ruling till their 40s
I told you three times already Hakeem Olajuwon wasn't even anywhere near his prime then. That's like the first time Shaq and Yao matched up there's a big difference in experience there. Handchecking rules meant u had to be a better 1 on 1 player and the game required more strength back then. Nowadays u can throw all ur defenders at one guy. That means u have to have that much more fundamentals in regards to passing spacing & discipline. Its not a matter of getting punked by a guy stronger than u
In 1986 Hakeem was 22 years old so that is athletically/physically even more Prime than he was when facing Shaq (at age 32, passed physical and athletic prime). McHale was 30 that is edging your physical/athletic prime because usually u are faster, more agil and more potent at ages 20-28 than in your 30s (Playing Prime is 25-32). McHale faced both Hakeem and Sampson a freghtining Duo at the time and he destroyed it: 25.8 PPG, 57.28% FG, 8.5 RPG and 2.5 BPG. Get Real Kid!
He had enough age. Remember he trained with Moses all this time & at 22 had superior athletic/physical attributes than at 32. Lets also remember he had Sampson next to him who was a monster before his injuries and off court activities (drugs etc). McHale went up against these two monsters and achieved this: 25.8 PPG, 57.28% FG, 8.5 RPG and 2.5 BPG. Don`t underrate McHale. Barkley called him the Best Player he ever faced and Bird said that McHale could score over 40 every every game if he wanted
If you want to see the polar opposite of what not to do as a big man, watch Kendrick Perkins on Boston, when he gets an offensive rebound, he brings the ball down to his toes then goes up, usually getting stripped, he drives me crazy.
What are you 20 years old? Barkley was a Better Scorer, Rebounder, Passer, Floor Defender, Stealer and Shot Blocker than Malone. Not to mention: Clutcher, More Skilled and Better All-Around Player. Barkley stands 10th in EFF and 9th in PER. Barkley shot at an insane 58.13% from the 2-Point FG while Malone shot at only 51.9% from the 2-Point FG. Barkley shot 55.13% from the 2-Point FG in the Play-Offs while Malone Shot a Pathetic 46.56%. Barkley from 1985/86 to 1995/96 was way better than Malone
Barkley has the highest 2-Point FG% is 58.13%and 55.13% that as the go to go guy that is only comparable to Shaq. Not to mention Barkley was a better Rebounder, Passer, Assiter, Ball Handler, Driver, Stealer, Long Distance Shooter, Stealer, Floor Defender and Could Take Games Over In More Areas. Barkley is the Best Offensive Powerforward, then McHale and then Duncan.
LOL at 2pt FG% which isnt even use in the NBA stat system. LMAO. Ok u have ur opinion my friend n I have mine. I respect ur opinion. U like Barkley better ok. I respect that. I have prove my points why earlier on this page as well. Dont need to repeat it again. The things I said r all facts my friend. So its all good regardless both r great.
You're TOO subjective buddy.Malone is a better than Barkley IN ALMOST EVERY ASPECT OF A GAME.He's more durable,he's stronger and he scored more points, assists and even rebounds than Barkley. He has also won more trophies than Barkley....And you shouldn't put Garnett and Duncan on your list because their careers aren't over yet...

Just imagine if Barkley would have had Stockton and played in a Fast Paced Conference in his 20s? Imagine his PPG Avg and FG%? (he had a 58.13% 2-Point FG, insane!) Imagine if he had Prime Ginobili?, Prime Parker?, Prime Robinson?, Prime Stockton?, Prime Magic?, Prime Bird?, Prime DJ?, Prime Parish?...
Charles Barkley is the Most Underrated Player Ever!
Skill set wise Garnett is superior to McHale and Malone. Neither as athletic, nor as talented on the ball, passing and frankly rebounding. Better prospect than both of them. Malone benefited from playing with Stockton and Sloan's system. Mostly 1 step base power moves with a solid mid range shot. Defense is overrated. Rebounded well. McHale was a great post player and interior defender but is not as versatile as Garnett. Garnetts problem has always been assertiveness.
Skill Wise Superior to McHale when away from the Basket but In the Post, McHale would destroy Garnett. Garnett`s problem is that he is not a Great Scorer, As Efficient and Offensively Clutch. He doesn`t have the Offensive Impact as Barkley, McHale and Duncan. He is around Malone`s level with the difference Malone was a tougher and in running game like Charles was a master finisher.
Not a dominant scorer but Garnett does have the skill set to be a exceptional scorer. Shoots well from 18 feet and in. Can score facing, posting, off the dribble, off the ball, off the break and off the boards. Garnett is not assertive enough to be a dominant scorer. Malone was a not a shot creator. Mostly relied on Stockton and the system. Barkley was unbelievable. Just at times lazy.
Duncan is the best post up player in the game but has at times been containable against certain player such as Rasheed Wallace. Long athletic defenders have been given Duncan problems in teh past in isolations situations. Garnett is a tougher matchup due to his skills and athleticism. By value top 5 player value(talent+market value) since 99(Not in order; Shaq; Duncan; Lebron; Kobe).
Duncan is not as talnted verstatile on the ball as Duncan either. Better interior player but not as versatile. Barkley was special and never gets the respect he deserves from gans today.
Barkley is the Most Underrated Great of All Time. There is`nt one player in the league today that would not get humilated, not just outplayed, but humilated against a Prime Barkley. Yes McHale was not as Veretaile as Duncan but after Barkley, McHale is the Most Efficient Scorer and Hardest to Guard in the Post. His Shot Bloicking Averages would have been much higher if he played more minutes per game and so would have is rebounding.
@AceroySangre I love Barkley, his post game was amazing and for his size he rebounded like no one else... but he was not a well conditioned athlete and I have no idea what you meant with "floor defender" but he was s defensive liability. Worse even he was a disinterested defender and McHale abused him in the post. So, in terms of being the best you have to be a complete player in offense and defense and Barkley was most definitely not. Duncan, McHale, Barkley. In that order.

@AceroySangre While I can agree with Barkley being a better, more versatile player offensively he was definitely a far, far inferior defender than McHale. In fact, McHale was exactly the type of player Barkley could not handle defensively. Problem with Barkley was that he was a disinterested defensive player.
@AceroySangre Barkley sure was a better driver..Charles Barkley Pleads Guilty to Drunk Driving
Charles Barkley is turning the page in his drunk driving case. In a plea deal with the Government, Barkley has admitted that he was driving while intoxicated.
Charles Barkley pleads guilty to Driving While Intoxicated and agrees to jail time. According to reports, Barkley's breath test result showed that he was almost twice the legal limit of 0.08.
@AceroySangre Mmm. Barkley always had a amazing talent and he'll always be one of my favs no matter how many stupid things he says on TNT. But would I say he's better than McHale was? I'd give it a tie in the half court and Barkley edg in transition O. McHale all the way on D. In 86-87, McHale was so good in the post that they nicknamed his post position, 'The Torture Chamber'. That season he was the first player in NBA history to shoot 60 % from the field and 80 % from the line. CONTD
@AceroySangre CONTD. I do think Barkley, McHale, Duncan and maybe Garnett are in the same class. McHale is under-rated b/c he played in Bird's shadow and injuries limited him to 31 mpg. Barkley was good. If he had been playing with a prime Pippen, he would have got a bunchf of rings too. Jordan is over-rated and Barkley is absolutely under-rated.
@FavreianVengeance ...u think if barkley had prime pippen he would have a bunch of rings too?...
mike= championship in 1998 with pippen
barkley= 1st round exit in 1999 with pippen
mike is better than barkley....3-0 in playoff series vs barkley....
mike= 45 pts 11 rbs 6 assists in a 111-101 playoff win AT philly in game 4 of 1990 2nd round....pippen missed the game to go to his dads funeral....mike still whipped barkley
@shaqpopcorn34 That's just a stupid point. Barkley was over the hill and Pippen was past his prime by 99. Jordan got lucky to beat the Pacers, Knicks, Jazz, Heat, whoever in 98. They defied the odds. That's why he retired. You think he didn't want 4 in a row? He knew that there were better teams including the Spurs, Lakers, Pacers, etc.....And I didn't make the case Barkley was better than Jordan, though there's a case. I said the diff between Jordan and Barkley's success was one had Scottie.
@FavreianVengeance ...you damn fool....more proof you know NOTHING about bball....mike retired in 98 for one simple reason....bulls ownership had said even before the bulls won the 98 title, that no matter what happened it was phil jacksons last year....i guess 5 titles(when jerry krause said that) was not enough for phil to keep his job.....back to back seasons of 72-10 and 69-13 just wasnt gonna cut it...lmaoooo.....why would mike reward an owner that did that by returning?....NUFF SAID
mike= retired at 35 as a bull....after winning reg.season,allstar,and finals mvp....and scoring title....had 45 points a championship winner in final game as a bull...
bulls= coulda won in 99....that was a pathetic year anyway....delayed season,50 games jammed into a tight span, and the lowest scoring season in modern history...
it says a lot that you would be holding a 36 year old mike to a championship standard
@shaqpopcorn34 Barkley was still an all-star. He was done as a dominant player. Jordan was on his downhill too despite all your fantasy talk. And shut the fuck up on the Bird hating. He had fucking torn acls and a degenerative back condition. Jordan would've been done with that too. Stop taking your stupid fucking cheap shots just b/c you like to whack off to Jordan.
@shaqpopcorn34 Seriously. Why do you make such stupid points? Why would you even think to compare an over the hill Barkley and past due Pippen combo to the the prime Jordan/Pippen combos? Seriousy, if you make such stupid comparisons I may just not bother responding. Stop throwing shit against the wall and hoping it sticks. You do that with your messages too. START THINKING.
@FavreianVengeance ...lmaoo...didnt i show 2 seasons that are ONE YEAR APART....u say "over the hill barkley"....
barkley= 23.5 ppg 13.8 rpg 3.8 apg in 99 playoffs..THATS WHAT OVER THE HILL BARKLEY DID WITH PIPPEN....yet pippen had a 1st round exit
pippen got a ring in 1998 with mike...in 1999,1st round exit with .329% in the playoffs..did pippen go from championship caliber player in 98 to washed up loser by 99?...lmao
shaqpop= genius....you arent on my level....barkley sure struggled...LMAO
man gotta love mchale. most big man highlights are just DUNKDUNKDUNK after dunk, and i'm a shaq fan. nice to see some pretty moves in the post we dont see as often nowadays.
Better 1 on 1 Off the Dribble Scorer/ON the Paint or OFF the Paint, Spinner (Spin Moves in the Post), Coast to Coast Player, Capable of Taking Games Over on His Own!, 39 Inch Vertical Leap, Stronger, Faster, More Athletic, etc just a Better Player than McHale. That is why Having Pathetic Teamates in his Prime but 3 years of his Career he is TOP 9 PER and TOP 10 EFF, Highest Season 2-Point FG% Ever as the Go To Go Guy (only comparable to Shaq, Jabbar, Wilt but taking less shots!) etc
Saying McHale was a Better Scorer is insulting regading that he only did what a PF does, Charles did that better and then some with as High or Higher 2-Point FG. Kevin was a Better Shot Blocker Do to Height and Had More Varied Post Game (Not More Efficient or Better) About it. Barkley is the BETTER: Scorer (Being Nº1 Focal-Scorer "Go to Go Guy"), Rebounder, Floor Defender, Stealer, Paint Heavy Defender (Could Contain Shaq Off the Paint), Passer, Game Creator, Dribbler, Driver, Mid Range Shooter
Barkley first is not a great defender by all means. He couldnt stop Shaq if his life depended on it. Mark Madsen can post Shaq out the block but could he stop him. Rodman the same, none could stop him. So I dont know y u act like that is a great defence when all he had to do was back them down n shoot over them. Better floor defender. He isnt a great defender. Avg at best. Charles is a good driver. LOL. His dribbling skills r not great. His shooting isnt great.
Then So We All Must Admit It Is Much Harder to Have a High 2-Point FG% if you are the Focal-Scorer "Go To Go Guy" Right? Anyone will agree!. Well Barkley`s 2-Point FG% which is the Measure for Powerforward`s/ Center`s Efficiency and Dominance is the Highest Ever! For a Focal-Scorer in the Season at 58.13% (more than Shaq!) and 55.13% in the Play-Offs while him Being the "Go To Go Guy" Focal Scorer Not "The Second Option". By the way Charles only went below 50% 2-Point FG ONCE 98-99 at age 35!
LOL. Man u r making up stats big time. Barkley went under 50% even in his prime. LOL. Year after the Suns made the Finals he went under 50%. LOL. He went under 50% five times. N 58% with hmmm Maurice Cheeks, Cliff Robinson, Dr. J(for crying out loud), World B. Free, Andrew Toney most not be hard to do. Im sure all those guys draw TONS OF ATTENTION N ANYBODY WHO KNOW BASKETBALL WILL SAY THE SAME THING. Like I said Barkley had help at all times. Dont know y u wont admit that.
McHale was not a more efficient 2-Point FG% Socrer than Barkley. I will mention it again: Charles took 2,271 3-Pointers and McHale just 170 3-Pointers. Barkley`s Season 2-Point FG% is the Second Highest Ever at 58.13% Second Only to Artis Gilmore (who was a 7`2 ft Center that was only the Focal Socrer of his team from age 26 to 28, then Again a Second Focal Scorer like McHale before and after) All this Being Barkley the "Go to Go Guy" Focal Scorer from 1986 to 1996 doubled-tripled teamed.
Mchale is a more efficent scorer to me. He gets better shots cuz of his post skills and size. N to shoot a high percentage due to not getting tons of shots and looks is superb. Barkley always had a great shooter on his team. They were good shooters n scorers. People like Toney, Hawkins, Hornacek, Majerie, Ainge, E. Johnson. With that said, teams couldnt double him alot cuz those guys can shoot it with the best of them. Running the floor n put backs is where Barkley got a good bit of pts.
Then in Houston he was 33 yrs old "Passed His Prime". He actually went to Houston because he "could not play anymore" as the focal scorer" because of back and knee injuries from 1994 (excessive work he did on his own from 86 to 92 in Phily!). By 1994 Barkley announced he would retire but Ainge convinced him not to. So in Houston he met with other stars ALL PASSED THEIR PRIME: Hakeem 33 yr, Drexler 34 , Kevin Willis 34, Mario Elie 33". Eddige Johnson 37. Best Players Average 34 yr? Come on!
Passed his Prime. LOL. So Nash being in his 30 thirties winning multiple MVP is passed his prime. MJ winning 72-10 rec n multiple Finals awards was passed his prime in his thirties. LOL. Barkley still was effective. He went there for a ring. He wanted to go somewhere to win a ring. N passed their prime is like they all r not effective. Anyone would tell u that Hakeem, Drexler, Willis, E. Johnson, r effective n barley lost to Jazz for trip to Finals.
The Best PF Ever is Charles Barkley. In his Prime its not even close! its laughable to even compare. All who know about basketball and saw him play in his prime will say the same...
I respect ur valuable opinion as Charles is a great player. Charles will tell u that Kevin Mchale out of all the greats he played against in the post is the hardest for him to guard. With that said coming from Barkley says alot. Now ur opinion is a good one as well and I respect that. But Kevin is a great player that is to me some what underrated. He is a better Defender than Barkley n better Post player(scoring wise)than Barkley to. Both r great no question.
McHale was Better Shot Blocker do to his 6`10 frame and 7`3 wingspan but Barkley could prevent bigger-heavier and stronger players off the paint. I`ve seen a prime Barkley force Shaq out the paint and Guard Parish succesfully. Barkley was a better floor defender than McHale. He was quicker, had better hands to steal and anticipate. Was a better Rebounder, Driver, 1 on 1 Player Off the Dribble, Could Actually Dribble 1 on 1 and Start a Break. Mid Range Shooter, 3-Point Shooter & Ofcourse Passer.
The on reason Mchale Numbers isnt as good as Barkley is due to Bird(the main guy), D.J.(A scoring option as well), D. Ainge(A good shooter), R. Parish(Solid scorer), Walton(solid big man). Those r all Hall of Famer besides D. Ainge. Now if Mchale didnt play with all those greats I would bet u his number will be on par with Barkley or better. Barkley was more athletic but Mchale was way smarter. Mchale is the better post scorer to me. Wayyyy more moves than Barkley ever had.
Veo I agree McHale had better "Post Moves" but thats not the only way to score. It is just one way. Chuck was way better "Designing his OWN SHOT". He did not need Bird or PG DJ to set him right on the Post for a Good Timed Pass. Barkley could get the Ball: Post Up, Spin Move, (better than McHale) Fadeaway, Go 1 on 1 Off the Dribble (something McHale could not), Drive, Get A Rebound and Go "Coast to Coast" (Something McHale Couldn`t do), Lead a Break, Handle the Ball and Assist Like a Guard
I didnt say the Post Moves r the only way to score. But as a PF and C its the primary option. N Mchale is better than. Chuck had Kevin Johnson, Prime Dan Majerie, Great shoot in Jeff Hornacek, Drexler, Olajuwon, Pippen, Dr. J(although toward end of his career), A good vetran in Danny Ainge(went 2 4-5 Finals), Tom Chambers( underrated player), Prime Cedric Ceballos, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, A. Toney, C. Robinson, Tisdale, D. Manny, M. Finely, E. Johnson, Kevin Willis, Steve Francis.
Wrong! McHale in "His Prime" played with a "Prime Bird" (Best SF Ever), "Prime Robert Parish", "Prime DJ", "Prime Ainge", Prime "Cedrick Maxwell", "Walton" etc.
Barkley played with Dr J when this one was "Passied His Prime" 34 yrs-37 yrs old! (and Barkley did not start 1-2 Seasons) Played with Moses for just 2 seasons and ended up playing with a pathetic team from 1986 to 1992. With the Suns he played with KJ only Great Player,Ainge when he was 34 passed his prime! & Chambers 33 a Sub!.
So Dr. J was not effective playingwith Barkley is what u r saying. LOL. Scoring nearly 20 pts n he was effecive. LOL. U making excuses for these guys ages n anyone would tell u that watches n understand basketball that those guys were effective. They still could score and know the game. If they wasnt effective they would be like Sam Cassel was this yr awful, Olajuwon in a Raptor uniform, Current Shaq. u could really tell a difference. MJ passed his prime was still effective with the Wiz.
With all those Greats, he had help on his team, n wasnt always the primary option either. He was or 1 of the leaders on those teams dont get me wrong, but Im sure some of those players I name were better as well as more or equal valuable than Chuck. I know he had talent around him. He never had a team like Allen 76ers team that went to the Finals against the Lakers, now that is the worst Finals Roster I ever seen. Barkley never had a team like that n carried them to the Finals like that.
I don`t think that McHale is a Better Post Scorer. I think he had More Varied Post Moves but Barkley also had the Most Skilled Post-Spin Ever. Barkley`s FG% excluding 3-Point FGs/FGA is as insane or more insane than McHale`s especially considering McHale had DJ leading the PG and the Best Passing Forward Ever (Bird) to Set Him Up for Exact Timed Passes. Barkley on the other hand had to design his shooting on his own and could do it in more ways:
Barkley was ok off the dribble, n better than Mchale, but he isnt a great dribbler by any means. He had more perimeter gm due to his size cuz Barkley was under-sized(6"4" to 6"6'projected) for his position n to have successful, u better be able to play out side alittle to. Barkley jumper was solid not great. Barkley spin more was great. But his overall post gm isnt better than Mchale in my opinion. Mchale had 55-56% Career FG percentage. That is GREAT. A better FT Shooter than Barkley to.
Barkley`s Off the Dribble Moves Where Not Ok for a PF, They Were The Best Ever for a PF. Barkley`s Post Game was Incredible and As Good as McHale´s (Regarding How Many Moves He Had). Barkley was like a Little Shaq with More Skill and Superior Ball Handles. In his Prime Most PFs did not want Barkley Near the Basket because he was way stronger and faster than McHale to contain and his "Post Spin Moves" "Mid Range Shot" & "Dribbling Skills" where way Better than McHale`s too.
Barkley's Off Dribble moves r no way better than some of the other Great Power Forwards in the gm. Heck Ralph Sampson dribbles were just as good in his prime. Dirk has better handles than Barkley ever had. Barkley just goes forward with his dribbling. He isnt superb. He isnt really great in the open floor with ball. He doesnt pass the ball like a guard either. That is over exaggerating. I agree he handle it better than Mchale, but no where near the best in the history of pro ball.
Can Dirk or Ralph Sampson Get A Rebound Lead a Break and Make an Point Guard-like Assist on the Other Ground? Nope they can`t Sorry! but Barkkely Could :). Ralph and Dirk are Great for their Height but they but Not Even Close to Barkley`s Dribbling Ability for a PF. Ofcourse not better than a Barkley from 1989 on when he began playing SF next to PF Mahorn.
I dont know if u r watching the NBA, cuz I can show u Ralph getting a rebound or stl n leading the break as well as Dirk. N to say they r not close to Barkleys dribbling is awful thing to say my friend. LOL n to say Dirk isnt could not be argue career wise with Barkley is funny. LOL. Dirk was rob of a title by horrible officating n as we see with the current betting scandles with a ref in NBA n other refs possible in it as well, im sure it was in that Finals gm although they wouldnt admit.
Mid Range Shooting, 1 on 1 Driving, 1 on 1 Off the Dribble, FastBreak, Coast To Coast, Offensive Rebounding Put Backs, Monster Dunks, Sping Moves, On His Own Take the Game Over etc. Remember Chuck was the Focal Scorer "Go To Go Guy" for most of his Career while Kevin was the 2nd Socring Option after Bird. Bird as the Greatest Passing Forward Ever, DJ & Parish All made it Easier for McHale. Chuck`s Season 2-Point FG% 58.13% is the Highest Ever for A Focal Scorer & 55.13% in Play-Offs also insane
Mchale could easier be argue better than Barkley to me. Both r great dont get me wrong n its really hard to say who is better to me. But u can argue either is better than the other in a fair debate. Both r great. Mchale, better FG%, better FT shooter, better shot block, better post player, more durable(to me), Height advancage, more rings, made playoffs every yr he played, Solid rebounder(also Parish, Walton, Bird etc on the block rebounding to),etc. But like I said, respect ur opinion.
Barkley as a "Go to Go Goy" Focal Scorer Never Benefited by having the Best Passing Forward Ever in Bird as the Focal Soorer Whom Was Doubled Teamed By Perimter Players, leaving McHale for easier man to man confrontations. Chuck had to do it all on his own doubled. Better Rebounder, Passer, Game Creator, 1-1 Off the Dribble Socrer, Post Spin Move Scorer, Mid Range Shooter, Stealer, Floor Defender, Could Take Games Over.
Barkley benefited from great player if u saw the talent he had around him. That I disagree with u on. K.J. was huge in the Suns getting to the Finals. Barkley had help. Majerie. etc. Mchale is the more efficent scorer. His FG% is higher n he draws double teams to. No one could stop Mchale one on one. He can get any shot he wanted. Barkley got alot of his points running on the break n put backs. Not as great as Mchale one on one scoring for that position. Both r great n I respect u.
Think about it. Mchale was able to play one on one alot. So if he is able to have 2 60% FG shooting season, he must be great. Thats more than Barkley to. Mchale was able to score close to 20 pts per gm for his career with all of the HoFers. Not easy to do at all. He was so accurate with his scoring attempts. Says alot to me. Now Barkley played on a star studded Rockets team. His FG% under 50. Says alot compared to Mchale. Mchale could possibly have better number if he was the go to guy.
I already told you what Chuck´s 2-Point FG% is Higher or As High as McHale`s in total. The only reason why it doesn`t seem so is because Charles took 2,271 3-Pointers and McHale just 170 but FG%-wise in the Forward Region and in the Paint they have Similar FG% with the difference that it is Harder for a "Go To Go Guy" Focal Main Scorer (like Barkley) to Have High FG% than the Second Option (McHale) who benefits from Bird`s Perimter Double Teaming, Parish (a High FG% Scorer), DJ`s Passing etc
U make it seems like its Mchale fault cuz he had great players around him. He couldnt control that. N to be able to shoot just as good or better than Barkley due to his shot attempts being down cuz he clearly had to share the ball ith about 4 HOFers on his team is simply amazing. Like i told u, Barkley played with Drexler, Pippen, Olujawon n his FG% decease below 50%. All r HoFers. Mchale never went below 50% until his last season n that was becuz of injuries.
Its not his fault at all i love Kevin McHale too but its obvious he was benefiting by Bird`s constant double teaming since he was the Main Focal Scorer and Game Creator and Top Assiter, DJ`s Great Passing and Parish himself as a High FG & Scorer. This Left McHale for easier baskets than Barkley ever had in his Prime. You have to admit its way more difficult to have High FG% when you are the 1st Option "Go to Go Guy" Focal Socrer than being the 2nd Option. Big Difference!
Barkley FG% isnt higher than Mchale n there is no such thing as 2 pt%. LOL. Both r great players n u have ur opinion which i value. But u r stating some false info my friend. Barkley is clearly one of the best to ever play. i truly respect him and love watching him play. But he had some talent around him to help make him effective. Its up to u to agree or disagree which is fine. U have a right to entitle ur opinion which i respect. But once again both r great players.
Its weird to hear BEST POWER FORWARD ever, I mean, dont start the typical youtube bitching please Im just curious. To me, its neither McHale nor KMalone for that matter. I believe Duncan should be the officially named best 4spot of all t...

he always made it look so..EASY;"Well-he didn't go for THAT FAKE;one more;there you go..up and under for the layup..".and he always seemed to be taking his time..like it didn't matter who the defender was or what the defender was doing...SO HUMILIATING,,..for those reasons,I would rather be dunked on or scorched by any other player ..than to be in Kevin McHale's torture chamber...

AceroySangre 3 years ago
There's no way someone 6,10" can have an 8 foot wingspan. Someone 6,10" with even a 7,5" wingspan would be very impressive and above average. I know many ppl have wingspans are a lot longer than their height, but the it's only by 4-5 inches usually and hell no more than a foot.
supersmash43 2 years ago
Response:
"No one can guard Kevin," Bird said, "especially in the playoffs."His arms were long enough to tie his shoes without bending over - and those arms were perhaps his greatest asset. McHale's wingspan, on his 6-10 body, has been estimated at 8 feet.
End!

kevin mchale will eat garnett's and rasheed's lunch everyday. thats good mchale was. the great charles barkley even said that he copied mchales up and under move and regarded him as the toughest post player in his era. and this includes other great post players karl malone, dream, ewing, moses malone and jabbar. garnett and rasheed dont have a go to move at the post. mchale could easily average 25 and 10 if he is playing.
tin2975tin 3 years ago 2
Agreed and Barkley destroyed Garnett and Duncan at ages 34-36, overweight and with crippled knees and back problems. McHale is the Second Best Scoring PF Ever after Sir Charles. I think Garnett is the Best All Around PF though and Duncan right now the Best Post Game PF right now
AceroySangre 3 years ago
He had some pretty decent moves, but he wouldn't get them shits in today's game. So much more athleticism these days would limit his moves. But Hakeem Olajuwon had WAY better post game than him. Foot work, speed, strength, athleticism, he's the best post player to me. Then Shaq
boss12 3 years ago
Hakeem was inferior than McHale in the Post. He might have been more athletic, agil and fast but McHale had way more Moves and a Superior Shooting Touch. Not to to forget McHale had an 8 ft winspam. What are u 20 years old Kid!!!? Basketball today is soft, no hard fouls & no handchecking allowed. McHale under todays rules would destroy the league even more. He shot 56% from the Field on what? 12-13 FGA PG? playing like 31-33 MPG. Don`t go by looks if not Bird & McHale would not have shooled :)
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Kevin McHale against somebody like Kevin Garnett? Or Rasheed Wallace? He wouldn't stand a chance. He had moves, but the athleticism in big guys way more than anything he ever played against. His moves were subtle, but a guy like Olajuwon wouldn't struggle against that at all. Take Hakeem in his championship years against McHale in the 80's. Kevin McHale would get his ass handed to him

Olajuwon wasn't near his prime in 86. McHale is too slow to play in today's league. An 8 ft wing span won't help him if he can't keep up with the guy he's supposed to be guarding. And those slow plodding moves he had wouldn't give him much advantage against a double team or triple team.
boss12 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago 4
I told you three times already Hakeem Olajuwon wasn't even anywhere near his prime then. That's like the first time Shaq and Yao matched up there's a big difference in experience there. Handchecking rules meant u had to be a better 1 on 1 player and the game required more strength back then. Nowadays u can throw all ur defenders at one guy. That means u have to have that much more fundamentals in regards to passing spacing & discipline. Its not a matter of getting punked by a guy stronger than u
boss12 3 years ago
In 1986 Hakeem was 22 years old so that is athletically/physically even more Prime than he was when facing Shaq (at age 32, passed physical and athletic prime). McHale was 30 that is edging your physical/athletic prime because usually u are faster, more agil and more potent at ages 20-28 than in your 30s (Playing Prime is 25-32). McHale faced both Hakeem and Sampson a freghtining Duo at the time and he destroyed it: 25.8 PPG, 57.28% FG, 8.5 RPG and 2.5 BPG. Get Real Kid!
AceroySangre 3 years ago 2
Dude Olajuwon didn't have that much EXPERIENCE at 22. He knew the game way better at 32
boss12 3 years ago
He had enough age. Remember he trained with Moses all this time & at 22 had superior athletic/physical attributes than at 32. Lets also remember he had Sampson next to him who was a monster before his injuries and off court activities (drugs etc). McHale went up against these two monsters and achieved this: 25.8 PPG, 57.28% FG, 8.5 RPG and 2.5 BPG. Don`t underrate McHale. Barkley called him the Best Player he ever faced and Bird said that McHale could score over 40 every every game if he wanted
AceroySangre 3 years ago 3

AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley has the highest 2-Point FG% is 58.13%and 55.13% that as the go to go guy that is only comparable to Shaq. Not to mention Barkley was a better Rebounder, Passer, Assiter, Ball Handler, Driver, Stealer, Long Distance Shooter, Stealer, Floor Defender and Could Take Games Over In More Areas. Barkley is the Best Offensive Powerforward, then McHale and then Duncan.
1-Barkley
2-Duncan

Charles Barkley is the Most Underrated Player Ever!
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Skill set wise Garnett is superior to McHale and Malone. Neither as athletic, nor as talented on the ball, passing and frankly rebounding. Better prospect than both of them. Malone benefited from playing with Stockton and Sloan's system. Mostly 1 step base power moves with a solid mid range shot. Defense is overrated. Rebounded well. McHale was a great post player and interior defender but is not as versatile as Garnett. Garnetts problem has always been assertiveness.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Skill Wise Superior to McHale when away from the Basket but In the Post, McHale would destroy Garnett. Garnett`s problem is that he is not a Great Scorer, As Efficient and Offensively Clutch. He doesn`t have the Offensive Impact as Barkley, McHale and Duncan. He is around Malone`s level with the difference Malone was a tougher and in running game like Charles was a master finisher.
1-Barkley
2-Duncan
3-McHale/Malone/Garnett
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Not a dominant scorer but Garnett does have the skill set to be a exceptional scorer. Shoots well from 18 feet and in. Can score facing, posting, off the dribble, off the ball, off the break and off the boards. Garnett is not assertive enough to be a dominant scorer. Malone was a not a shot creator. Mostly relied on Stockton and the system. Barkley was unbelievable. Just at times lazy.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Duncan is the best post up player in the game but has at times been containable against certain player such as Rasheed Wallace. Long athletic defenders have been given Duncan problems in teh past in isolations situations. Garnett is a tougher matchup due to his skills and athleticism. By value top 5 player value(talent+market value) since 99(Not in order; Shaq; Duncan; Lebron; Kobe).
chitownmo 3 years ago
Duncan is not as talnted verstatile on the ball as Duncan either. Better interior player but not as versatile. Barkley was special and never gets the respect he deserves from gans today.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Barkley is the Most Underrated Great of All Time. There is`nt one player in the league today that would not get humilated, not just outplayed, but humilated against a Prime Barkley. Yes McHale was not as Veretaile as Duncan but after Barkley, McHale is the Most Efficient Scorer and Hardest to Guard in the Post. His Shot Bloicking Averages would have been much higher if he played more minutes per game and so would have is rebounding.
AceroySangre 3 years ago

CONTD
FavreianVengeance 3 months ago
@AceroySangre CONTD. I do think Barkley, McHale, Duncan and maybe Garnett are in the same class. McHale is under-rated b/c he played in Bird's shadow and injuries limited him to 31 mpg. Barkley was good. If he had been playing with a prime Pippen, he would have got a bunchf of rings too. Jordan is over-rated and Barkley is absolutely under-rated.
FavreianVengeance 3 months ago

mike= championship in 1998 with pippen
barkley= 1st round exit in 1999 with pippen
mike is better than barkley....3-0 in playoff series vs barkley....
mike= 45 pts 11 rbs 6 assists in a 111-101 playoff win AT philly in game 4 of 1990 2nd round....pippen missed the game to go to his dads funeral....mike still whipped barkley
shaqpopcorn34 2 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 That's just a stupid point. Barkley was over the hill and Pippen was past his prime by 99. Jordan got lucky to beat the Pacers, Knicks, Jazz, Heat, whoever in 98. They defied the odds. That's why he retired. You think he didn't want 4 in a row? He knew that there were better teams including the Spurs, Lakers, Pacers, etc.....And I didn't make the case Barkley was better than Jordan, though there's a case. I said the diff between Jordan and Barkley's success was one had Scottie.
FavreianVengeance 2 months ago
@FavreianVengeance ...you damn fool....more proof you know NOTHING about bball....mike retired in 98 for one simple reason....bulls ownership had said even before the bulls won the 98 title, that no matter what happened it was phil jacksons last year....i guess 5 titles(when jerry krause said that) was not enough for phil to keep his job.....back to back seasons of 72-10 and 69-13 just wasnt gonna cut it...lmaoooo.....why would mike reward an owner that did that by returning?....NUFF SAID

@FavreianVengeance ....lmaooo....done?....
bird= retired at 35....he was done...
mike= retired at 35 as a bull....after winning reg.season,allstar,and finals mvp....and scoring title....had 45 points a championship winner in final game as a bull...
bulls= coulda won in 99....that was a pathetic year anyway....delayed season,50 games jammed into a tight span, and the lowest scoring season in modern history...
it says a lot that you would be holding a 36 year old mike to a championship standard
shaqpopcorn34 2 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 Barkley was still an all-star. He was done as a dominant player. Jordan was on his downhill too despite all your fantasy talk. And shut the fuck up on the Bird hating. He had fucking torn acls and a degenerative back condition. Jordan would've been done with that too. Stop taking your stupid fucking cheap shots just b/c you like to whack off to Jordan.
FavreianVengeance 2 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 Seriously. Why do you make such stupid points? Why would you even think to compare an over the hill Barkley and past due Pippen combo to the the prime Jordan/Pippen combos? Seriousy, if you make such stupid comparisons I may just not bother responding. Stop throwing shit against the wall and hoping it sticks. You do that with your messages too. START THINKING.

@FavreianVengeance ...lmaoo...didnt i show 2 seasons that are ONE YEAR APART....u say "over the hill barkley"....
barkley= 23.5 ppg 13.8 rpg 3.8 apg in 99 playoffs..THATS WHAT OVER THE HILL BARKLEY DID WITH PIPPEN....yet pippen had a 1st round exit
pippen got a ring in 1998 with mike...in 1999,1st round exit with .329% in the playoffs..did pippen go from championship caliber player in 98 to washed up loser by 99?...lmao
shaqpop= genius....you arent on my level....barkley sure struggled...LMAO
shaqpopcorn34 2 months ago
3:25 - That's on Kevin Willis kids. He was one of the best post defenders ever (which is why he played forever). McHale just made him look helpless.
FavreianVengeance 3 months ago
If I were to choose from James Worthy, Karl Malone or Kevin Mchale, Id choose Mchale ,,
even on his bad day, Worthy & Malone were great players,But they never mastered the clothesline like Kevin...,Ouch!!!
martdelacruz 3 years ago
man gotta love mchale. most big man highlights are just DUNKDUNKDUNK after dunk, and i'm a shaq fan. nice to see some pretty moves in the post we dont see as often nowadays.
fhrmdhs1 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley first is not a great defender by all means. He couldnt stop Shaq if his life depended on it. Mark Madsen can post Shaq out the block but could he stop him. Rodman the same, none could stop him. So I dont know y u act like that is a great defence when all he had to do was back them down n shoot over them. Better floor defender. He isnt a great defender. Avg at best. Charles is a good driver. LOL. His dribbling skills r not great. His shooting isnt great.
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Mchale is a more efficent scorer to me. He gets better shots cuz of his post skills and size. N to shoot a high percentage due to not getting tons of shots and looks is superb. Barkley always had a great shooter on his team. They were good shooters n scorers. People like Toney, Hawkins, Hornacek, Majerie, Ainge, E. Johnson. With that said, teams couldnt double him alot cuz those guys can shoot it with the best of them. Running the floor n put backs is where Barkley got a good bit of pts.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Come on!
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Passed his Prime. LOL. So Nash being in his 30 thirties winning multiple MVP is passed his prime. MJ winning 72-10 rec n multiple Finals awards was passed his prime in his thirties. LOL. Barkley still was effective. He went there for a ring. He wanted to go somewhere to win a ring. N passed their prime is like they all r not effective. Anyone would tell u that Hakeem, Drexler, Willis, E. Johnson, r effective n barley lost to Jazz for trip to Finals.
VeoShock 3 years ago
The Best PF Ever is Charles Barkley. In his Prime its not even close! its laughable to even compare. All who know about basketball and saw him play in his prime will say the same...
Sorry
AceroySangre 3 years ago
I respect ur valuable opinion as Charles is a great player. Charles will tell u that Kevin Mchale out of all the greats he played against in the post is the hardest for him to guard. With that said coming from Barkley says alot. Now ur opinion is a good one as well and I respect that. But Kevin is a great player that is to me some what underrated. He is a better Defender than Barkley n better Post player(scoring wise)than Barkley to. Both r great no question.
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
The on reason Mchale Numbers isnt as good as Barkley is due to Bird(the main guy), D.J.(A scoring option as well), D. Ainge(A good shooter), R. Parish(Solid scorer), Walton(solid big man). Those r all Hall of Famer besides D. Ainge. Now if Mchale didnt play with all those greats I would bet u his number will be on par with Barkley or better. Barkley was more athletic but Mchale was way smarter. Mchale is the better post scorer to me. Wayyyy more moves than Barkley ever had.
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
VeoShock 3 years ago
With all those Greats, he had help on his team, n wasnt always the primary option either. He was or 1 of the leaders on those teams dont get me wrong, but Im sure some of those players I name were better as well as more or equal valuable than Chuck. I know he had talent around him. He never had a team like Allen 76ers team that went to the Finals against the Lakers, now that is the worst Finals Roster I ever seen. Barkley never had a team like that n carried them to the Finals like that.
VeoShock 3 years ago
I don`t think that McHale is a Better Post Scorer. I think he had More Varied Post Moves but Barkley also had the Most Skilled Post-Spin Ever. Barkley`s FG% excluding 3-Point FGs/FGA is as insane or more insane than McHale`s especially considering McHale had DJ leading the PG and the Best Passing Forward Ever (Bird) to Set Him Up for Exact Timed Passes. Barkley on the other hand had to design his shooting on his own and could do it in more ways:
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley was ok off the dribble, n better than Mchale, but he isnt a great dribbler by any means. He had more perimeter gm due to his size cuz Barkley was under-sized(6"4" to 6"6'projected) for his position n to have successful, u better be able to play out side alittle to. Barkley jumper was solid not great. Barkley spin more was great. But his overall post gm isnt better than Mchale in my opinion. Mchale had 55-56% Career FG percentage. That is GREAT. A better FT Shooter than Barkley to.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Barkley`s Off the Dribble Moves Where Not Ok for a PF, They Were The Best Ever for a PF. Barkley`s Post Game was Incredible and As Good as McHale´s (Regarding How Many Moves He Had). Barkley was like a Little Shaq with More Skill and Superior Ball Handles. In his Prime Most PFs did not want Barkley Near the Basket because he was way stronger and faster than McHale to contain and his "Post Spin Moves" "Mid Range Shot" & "Dribbling Skills" where way Better than McHale`s too.
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley's Off Dribble moves r no way better than some of the other Great Power Forwards in the gm. Heck Ralph Sampson dribbles were just as good in his prime. Dirk has better handles than Barkley ever had. Barkley just goes forward with his dribbling. He isnt superb. He isnt really great in the open floor with ball. He doesnt pass the ball like a guard either. That is over exaggerating. I agree he handle it better than Mchale, but no where near the best in the history of pro ball.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Can Dirk or Ralph Sampson Get A Rebound Lead a Break and Make an Point Guard-like Assist on the Other Ground? Nope they can`t Sorry! but Barkkely Could :). Ralph and Dirk are Great for their Height but they but Not Even Close to Barkley`s Dribbling Ability for a PF. Ofcourse not better than a Barkley from 1989 on when he began playing SF next to PF Mahorn.
AceroySangre 3 years ago
I dont know if u r watching the NBA, cuz I can show u Ralph getting a rebound or stl n leading the break as well as Dirk. N to say they r not close to Barkleys dribbling is awful thing to say my friend. LOL n to say Dirk isnt could not be argue career wise with Barkley is funny. LOL. Dirk was rob of a title by horrible officating n as we see with the current betting scandles with a ref in NBA n other refs possible in it as well, im sure it was in that Finals gm although they wouldnt admit.
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
All This Considering he was the "Go to Go Guy" and "Focal Scorer" that had to Design his Own Shooting Most of the Time. Is Just Insane.
Barkley 2-Point FG% 58.13% Season/55.13 Play-Offs as A Lonesome Warrior and Focal Scorer is Just Insane.
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Mchale could easier be argue better than Barkley to me. Both r great dont get me wrong n its really hard to say who is better to me. But u can argue either is better than the other in a fair debate. Both r great. Mchale, better FG%, better FT shooter, better shot block, better post player, more durable(to me), Height advancage, more rings, made playoffs every yr he played, Solid rebounder(also Parish, Walton, Bird etc on the block rebounding to),etc. But like I said, respect ur opinion.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Barkley as a "Go to Go Goy" Focal Scorer Never Benefited by having the Best Passing Forward Ever in Bird as the Focal Soorer Whom Was Doubled Teamed By Perimter Players, leaving McHale for easier man to man confrontations. Chuck had to do it all on his own doubled. Better Rebounder, Passer, Game Creator, 1-1 Off the Dribble Socrer, Post Spin Move Scorer, Mid Range Shooter, Stealer, Floor Defender, Could Take Games Over.
Barkley 2-Point FG%: 58.13%/55.13%
McHale 2-Point FG%: 55.75%/56.30%
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley benefited from great player if u saw the talent he had around him. That I disagree with u on. K.J. was huge in the Suns getting to the Finals. Barkley had help. Majerie. etc. Mchale is the more efficent scorer. His FG% is higher n he draws double teams to. No one could stop Mchale one on one. He can get any shot he wanted. Barkley got alot of his points running on the break n put backs. Not as great as Mchale one on one scoring for that position. Both r great n I respect u.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Think about it. Mchale was able to play one on one alot. So if he is able to have 2 60% FG shooting season, he must be great. Thats more than Barkley to. Mchale was able to score close to 20 pts per gm for his career with all of the HoFers. Not easy to do at all. He was so accurate with his scoring attempts. Says alot to me. Now Barkley played on a star studded Rockets team. His FG% under 50. Says alot compared to Mchale. Mchale could possibly have better number if he was the go to guy.
VeoShock 3 years ago
AceroySangre 3 years ago
U make it seems like its Mchale fault cuz he had great players around him. He couldnt control that. N to be able to shoot just as good or better than Barkley due to his shot attempts being down cuz he clearly had to share the ball ith about 4 HOFers on his team is simply amazing. Like i told u, Barkley played with Drexler, Pippen, Olujawon n his FG% decease below 50%. All r HoFers. Mchale never went below 50% until his last season n that was becuz of injuries.
VeoShock 3 years ago
Its not his fault at all i love Kevin McHale too but its obvious he was benefiting by Bird`s constant double teaming since he was the Main Focal Scorer and Game Creator and Top Assiter, DJ`s Great Passing and Parish himself as a High FG & Scorer. This Left McHale for easier baskets than Barkley ever had in his Prime. You have to admit its way more difficult to have High FG% when you are the 1st Option "Go to Go Guy" Focal Socrer than being the 2nd Option. Big Difference!
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Barkley FG% isnt higher than Mchale n there is no such thing as 2 pt%. LOL. Both r great players n u have ur opinion which i value. But u r stating some false info my friend. Barkley is clearly one of the best to ever play. i truly respect him and love watching him play. But he had some talent around him to help make him effective. Its up to u to agree or disagree which is fine. U have a right to entitle ur opinion which i respect. But once again both r great players.
