WW2 had nothing to do with Germans. The destruction of Warsaw in Sept 1939 by the peace-loving Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe was all the fault of the Poles. The invasion of Russia after Hitler signed a peace treaty was all the fault of the Russians. The bombing of British cities was 'peace-loving' bombing not the 'terror bombing' used by the allies. I have a few ww2 items myself,not much,a couple of bayonets and some cloth patches to the uniform,all Wehrmacht...Im a small time collecter,like you I guess...:)

The Germans did not wish to surrender to the Russians for several reasons: 1) The Germans had killed millions of Soviets (soldiers and civilians alike) and they knew the Russians would come seeking revenge. 2) They HATED Communism. 3) They saw the Soviets as being racially inferior (Easter Europeans/Slavs are seen as racially inferior and Eastern Europe as the heart of European "Jewry".

But Germany is now a fiercely democratic country and today's Germans are not responsible for the sins of their grandfathers. HJ and BDM units were both fairly common in the last days of the Reich. Hitler wanted to play the total war game by bombing other people's women and children.

Whilst Dresden and Frankfurt were regrettable one must hesitate from comparing them to the holocaust. One was an act of war against factories, the other a deliberate concerted attempt at genocide. The bomber crews did not know what they were hitting. The same cannot be said for the Camp attendants

but the key element that you deny or fail to understand is that the Axis Powers did it in the name of oppression while the Allies did in the name of liberty.

The U.S. and British did do some pretty horiffic things in terms of killing masses of innocents. When firebombing cities with little to no military, or political significance etc. Still even after that, and the fierce fighting between the two, and when operating on the ground the Western-Allies were remarkably humane. Just about ever SS and Wehrmacht soldier wanted to surrender to the Western-Allies, and even have their capitol captured by us. That is a true testament to how cruel Soviets were.

Even despite knowing of German mass killings of US and British POWs when captured themselves German troops received more than adequate care. I only know of like two instances where Western-Allies actually murdered German POWs, and both cases were in France (west of Saint-Lo, and North of Paris) The Nazis especially Hitler were bad. The historical truth is that Hitler could only hope to kill as many millions as Soviets. Soviets were committing genocide as early as their 1917 "revolution"
