Okay...showing my age. Spent hours doing the bump to AWB, especially this song. Thanks for posting! I used to have this album and I miss "Nothing You Can Do". Can you please, please post? xoxo
I remember when this set the standard for music on the radio...no, there's no real talent required...most of today's "artists" think that funk is something they develop when they sweat on stage...
I would like to make y'all aware of a new music book which contains literally thousands of YouTube comments. The quirky publication is entitled 'You Are A Tube!' compiled by Steven Fried PLC.
lol this has such an abrupt ending. I can just imagine a couple dozen people gettin down to it, and then suddenly they're all just awkwardly standing there.
Most awesome blue-eyed/kilt-wearing funk number evah!
Camden606 mentioned Undercover Brother . . . I thought it was kind of funny that the opening scene's song was by a white band (considering the theme of the movie). Great movie, no doubt. Just kinda ironic.
@shydmples Every time I hear it I just remember the three baddies running amok! If you're gonna blow up a town and crush the army then this is probably one of the better tracks to do it to
I wish they would have had those hand claps at the end throughout the song. It would have had more of a Zapp/Roger Troutman sound...way before Zapp and Roger Troutman.
James took his influence and did something new and different with his music. A true artist will admit their influence all artist are inspired. AWB never admitted James Brown was a influenced. I have read several interviews where they were asked and it was said to them you guys have that James Brown sound and to this day they still deny the influence. All you have to do is listen.
New world order bites I was not being racist. I am speaking the truth. When Black artist perform something new JaZZ R&B Rap or what ever they are made fun of laughed at and mocked but when white artist come out and copy it is considered great and new. Now you tell me what is racist about that when that is a true fact because that is the way of the world especially in america.
The truth hurts! James Brown himself made a comment to the rappers and to other musicians to get off of his tip. It is one thing to be influenced and it is another to copy someone's sound and try to take credit for it. That is what I was saying. AWB was good but James was original. Big difference
Yes this was a good song but everyone really knows AWB ripped off James Brown. When I first heard this song along with a lot of other people we thought it was the JB's. Listen to the guitar riff all James Brown grooves. Admit it guys and tell the truth. That is why you called yourselves Average White.
Who can name a better funk song than this? You can't. It is what it is, the finest funkiest song there is. You cannot listen to it and not either strut or dance.
I spent three hours trying to figure out the name of this song and who sang it. I heard it on the radio this morning on my way to work and remembered hearing it on a toothpaste commercial. I googled and youtubed every toothpaste commercial till I just found it. Thank you for posting, maybe now I can sleep!
"Good afternoon, ladies & gentlemen! This is Dick Callahan welcoming you to The Coliseum for today's game between the Los Angeles Angels...and Your Oakland Athletics!"
I could listen to this tune for days, thanks for putting this up. :)
I first listened to this in Destroy All Humans: Path Of The Furon, but then I watched Iron Man 2 and heard it again, so I had to find out what the name of this song was... and here it is!
i was opening a brand new hamburger joint in the winter of '75 just north of akron and this song was on our jukebox (and got worn out quickly). great times. does anyone remember what song was on the flipside? maybe 'work to do'?
