I wonder if this song influenced Robin trower? One of my all time favorites. Made me realize that this song has elements that Trower may have liked also.
I like Halestorm's cover better. I love the hypnotic feel of this song. I'm sure many will disagree but the beat and slow rhythm kind of reminds me of Santana's music.
Every time I listen to this, the ending gives me chills. This song is just pure, primal, raw emotion. I think it gets its point across better without lyrics. The Beatles did with 13 words what no one else can do with full novels.
The interplay between the unique lead guitar and the great bass line (I think McCartney is an underrated bass player) is really something. It's kind of like in earlier songs when H & L did dueling leads. Ringo's drumming is spot on & the vocal sticks with all the variations. Just a lot of different parts coming together. The Beatles always strived for a synergistic effect, no matter how great the individual elements.
There is some of the spookiness and creepiness of Magical Mystery Tour and White Album in this song. I also love how it just stops suddenly out of nowhere.
i liked the Beatles before but after i watched across the universe 1 year ago i knew why they were in the top 3 most famous musitions with michael jackson and elvis i don't know what order though
The bass at 4:06 is the reason Paul is my favorite Beatle..... GAH! Words do not describe my love for this album. There will never been a better one created.....
You've got to understand. Nobody but nobody even sounded remotely close to these guys at that time. No one even came close. They set the standard and the bar so high no one could touch their sound or their songwriting. I can't emphasize how completely they dominated styles, music, culture. This song epitomizes John's absolute desperate love for Yoko.
In terms of production, this is George Martin's masterpiece... It's hard to believe this was recorded over 40 years ago... It's scary how good this is...
I tried slowly cranking up a fan while the white noise at the end comes in & it made the song even more atmospheric & sinister. If anybody reads this, I suggest trying it out.
"Ringo is one of the greatest rock drummers. There were times when hed get in the middle of a drum fill and not know how to get out, and thats what made it great." -Kenn Scott
It's evolution, and I don't even think they realized it themself, it's a new era and a new zone where you start to see Pink Floyd coming into the music scene
Out of this world. The guitar layers - oooosh. Takes me back to high school, a doobie, bedroom door locked with the headphones on! Heaven. Year later, I came home from college and my 14 yr old bro and friends thought van halen was best. I played abbey road for them and they were in awe!!
If you listen to this song and then "Because" and "You Never Give Me Your Money" you get an strange sense that the 3 songs were written together to be listened to together. Abbey Road is The Beatles pinnacle achievement!
con todo y la perdida de calidad debido al cambio de formato. suena genial. me hace sentir como las primeras veces que escuche estas canciones. parece que tengo a john cantandome en las orejas .
I read where the intense guitar portion was simply John, Paul and George playing the grunt out of the notes. In this remastered version, it is so full-flavored that I feel as if I've tripped back in time to Abbey Road Studios.
I was waiting for the part at 4:28 when John screams and people in the control booth are yelling to him. It's a lot more audible now and it seems that John's voice doesn't distort nearly as much as it did in the previous mix. Don't know how the pulled that off since it was recorded like that... Awesome
At firs I thought I heard some yellings after John screamed but then I read your comment and went back to listen to that part. Amazing, after more than 30 yrs I heard something new in this recording.
Very cool song. Never heard it till now. Thank you for posting these remasters. They sound amazing. Can't see why Capitol/EMI used 3rd of fourth generation tapes to master the CD's.
